Farmer, Sigmon Headline Card in Winchester October 29!

Two popular Virginia Boxers are slated to headline the Left Hook Boxing card on Saturday, October 29 at the New Winchester Armory located at 181 Pendleton Drive in Winchester, VA.

Front Royal, VA junior welterweight Andrew "The Doo Man" Farmer will headline the card in an eight-round rematch against Andre "Shake and Bake" Baker of Lumberton, NC. The last time they met was on June 25 in Virginia Beach, VA. Farmer (14-2, seven KO's) won by technical decision when Baker (8-32-2, two KO's) suffered a shoulder injury. Farmer was pitching a shutout through six rounds.

Bedford, VA super middleweight Scott "Cujo" Sigmon is slated to be in the co-feature bout against an opponent to be determined. Sigmon has been one of the busiest boxers along the Beltway as this is the seventh bout he has participated in this year. Sigmon (18-3, nine KO's) is coming off an eighth-round TKO over Joe Park on October 1 in Greensboro, NC.

Also on the card will be Richie "The Rocket" Andrews of Staunton and the debuting Ronnie "Braveheart" Carrigan of Vienna.

There will also be two pro Mixed Martial Arts bouts on this card.

ITS A WORD I MADE UP LIKE THE FIGHTERS YOU MAKE UP. PUTTING 2-0-1 FIGHTERS UP AS DEBUTERS. SMH BOXING IS FALLING APART! YOUR CARDS HAVE BEEN PULLED. YOU WILL GET A FIGHTER HURT LIKE THAT SAYING HE IS A DEBUT BUT HAVE FIGHTS UNDER HIS BELT. THATS ALL

Scott Farmer is very shady, what else do you expect? He has a track record of deceit and short-changing fighters, we all know this.

Anonymous said...

Call him scottie king! Say what you want. At least he is promoting again. If you don't like him sit your ass home on the 29th!

Scottie King of Crap

Sounds like a few of the posters in here could use a little therapy

Anonymous said...

When you say we.....who are you refering to? If youre a fighter or manager then speak up with you name. Then we can go into detail of your instance of short changing.....maybe you recieved a gift in the form of an opponent but got beat because you didnt know what to tell your fighter. how bout them apples? hhhmmmmm
I am glad that scott still has his fan club! Oh yeah and there is no law stating that you have to put the show on boxrec.com maybe if you actually promoted or have been affiliated with a show you would know! peace out!

Richie Andres had 16 amateur fights beginning in 2002 when he was 10. He had 2 amateur MMA matches. He had his first pro boxing fight 9-18-10 against Anthony Gregory in Hampton. The ring announcer called the fight a win for Andrews, but the VA Commission discovered that there was a mistake on the scorecards and declared it a draw. His second fight was 7-30-11 against Edgar Torres in Winchester. This fight was also a draw, so he is now 0-0-2.
Scott Farmer has always been good to me and has never short-changed any of our fighters.

Scott Farmer is a good promoter and a great guy. Figures it would be an anonymous coward who takes a cheap shot at him.

Anonymous said...

Henslea, u a fake and a cheapskape also. Worry about what your doing.

Anonymous said...

Truth hurts, If the man had 2 pro fights then he should be on box rec. Where your other 2 bums at Hopkins and Palma?

Anonymous said...

Hopkins only fought on one of scotts cards....palma is a bum and is retired! Is that all you got against this guy? If the guys record isn't on boxrec then check with the commissioner not the promoter!

This site is never short on critics, even the uneducated street urchins. We have an idea of who you are, not really that hard to trace on the computer.. You really should grow up, quit being jealous, and last but not least, we have shipped you a case of listerine, toothpaste and a toothbrush, use them because your breath really stinks.

PS. If boxrec is your only source of information on fighters, than it shows that you really are a no body and don't know anything about the sport.

Again, brush your damn teeth!

Joe Hensley is broke in more ways than one.

Yes, Hensley is a fake and cheap-skate. He gypped me twice.

What, wait a minute Boxrec isn't the end all be all? Just kidding of course. Scott Farmer has been ok to me. Joe Hensley has always been friendly to me. Tony Jeter has always been good to me, JD and the Lange's have been good to me, CUJO has always been good to me. Just about everyone down here in the beltway has been fair with me in regards to this sport. Hell Middendorf has been great to me.

So as much criticizing as I do here on this blog, none of the usual suspects people complain about has ever done anything to wrong to me.

There are a few; maybe 5 who have did me wrong. You know who you are and you suck.

I, for one am looking forward to this event and very excited to see some of the fighters on this card. For those of you that know Scott Farmer knows that he is a great guy and there is nothing shady, crudy, or deceitful about him, and short-changing fighters? You really dont know him. Glad to see Scott promoting this event,I know it will be an exciting night of fights as well, can't wait and i will be bringing lots of fans with me!

Part 1 of 2

Brian, you're all right with everyone I can think of including myself. You sign your name to what you post and that speaks volumes about your character in my opinion.

Now on to BoxRec.com and boxing commissions and in particular the Virginia Boxing Commission. BoxRec is an important tool that everyone in the boxing business uses. You can use it to search for fighters, look at who they fought, what their record is and so on. It is quick, easy, and it is FREE. Fight Fax reports are used by boxing commissions when they give their official sanction to a particular bout. The main problem with Fight Fax reports and why they aren't reasonable for every day use are 1) they cost money (about $3 to $5 each) and 2) they are not readily available 24/7.

When you promote a show in Virginia the Promoter pays for the fight fax reports for every fighter on the show. Those reports are sent to the commission and they use those reports to sanction each bout, review suspensions, etc. That bill is usually around $100 per show.

Almost every fight that has taken place in Virginia has a question mark beside it on BoxRec. This means the official result has not been verified by the boxing commission. If there is a check mark beside the bout that means the bout has been verified by the boxing commission.

Take Jimmy Lange for example. Almost all of his Patriot Center bouts aren't verified but his recent tune up bout with Mike McFail in North Carolina is verified as are most of his other bouts including those in Maryland. His bouts in Virginia are on BoxRec in large part to reputable and verifiable media sources such as FightNews.com and BATB.

In the case of Richie Andrews and his two pro bouts, both have taken place in Virginia and Virginia did not report those bouts to BoxRec, therefore those fights don't show in their database. However his Fight Fax report should show him as 0-0-2 per Bruce Frank's explanation.

Part 2 of 2

Virginia appears to be among a handful of boxing commissions that refuse to verify results with BoxRec. All of the big boxing states update to BoxRec regularly. John Shep, the facilitator of the BoxRec website, sent me an e-mail a few years ago and asked me if I could persuade Holland to verify results in VA to Boxrec. All he had to do, according to Shep was fax the results to a toll free fax number or e-mail the results to Shep and they would be verified. To the best of my knowledge, neither Holland nor anyone at the Virginia Boxing Commission has ever done this and thus VA results are unverified on BoxRec.

In my opinion this hurts fighters that fight in VA, the majority of which are from VA, and it makes VA appear to be a low level boxing state. Is VA on a level with Nevada, New York, and California with the huge mega fights? No. But we have real talent in this state and we are certainly producing better shows than the historically lower tier boxing states are.

Now how do you correct the problem of fights in VA being verified on Boxrec? I don't think Holland understands the importance of Boxrec in the boxing community and I'm certain he won't be verifying results to BoxRec anytime soon so the only real solution is this. When Promoters promote fights in VA and get their fight fax reports, fax them directly (or e-mail them whichever is easier) to BoxRec and they will update the boxer's record, results, etc. The only problem with this is that these aren't really results as the bout the fighter will soon fight will not show on the fight fax report. At least the prior fights will be verified and expenses are kept to a minimum. To keep BoxRec up to date with real time results a fighter, promoter, manager, anyone really, could get a Fight Fax account, pay for the report, then send the Fight Fax report to BoxRec and it would be updated within a day.

But it would be so easy to fax or e-mail the official results off to BoxRec at the same time you sent them off to Fight Fax so that those in the boxing business from Virginia wouldn't have to go through all of these steps to update BoxRec. Don't you think?

Really disappointed in all the negativity, disrespect and name calling on here.

Anonymous said...

Joe H why are you so negative?

Anonymous said...

It's ok for Joe to be negative because he signs his name half the time. Very insecure!

Joe Hensley said...

You call me insecure and you don't sign your name? I'm negative? Listen, all I did was write about how boxrec is a valuable tool in the boxing community. Then some anonymous coward calls me a shameless self promoter. I'm just tired of all these bums and cowards and losers out there who post anonymously and put people down. They are the ones being negative, I'm not being negative. Criticism is one thing, but when someone pretends to be someone else and signs that person's name, or just the sheer outright hate and jealousy that some of you anonymous posters are putting on here; it just shows how cowardly, pitiful, and spineless of a lowlife you really are. I'm not going to respond to anymore anonymous posts.

Anonymous said...

You responding shows how insecure you really are.

Anonymous said...

Andrew Should have a lost on his rec i saw him lose to Torres in winchester wait never mind it was a draw it should of been a lost for him.

Anonymous said...

I don't like the negativity either but, I have to admit, Hensley is acting like a big baby, considering all his past posts, particularly the pro wrestling style ones of getting in the ring himself. Facts are facts.

Anonymous said...

Man i was there myself torres beat him, i dont know how it was a draw, but any how what dose torres have to do with anything.

William Gagnon said...

Joe Hensley, you are complicated fellow. There was a time there where you were signing your name to some posts and not others. Now you are calling out authors of anonymous posts when you have done the same in the past. There also was a time, not so long ago, when you wrote many negative and reckless posts, namely challenging a chap to a fight in the ring. I would agree with the commenter who said you are a shameless self-promoter - childish too. Again, you are accusing others of being negative when you have done the same. I do believe the other commenter who has diagnosed you as insecure is precisely correct. I would add the following to that diagnosis: delusional, sociopath, yellow-bellied, two-faced and fork-tongued. I've signed my name and am happy to sit down and talk with you about this matter at you convenience.

so whatever happened to farmers show in winchester? did it go through, we did not even here of the weigh in, i just was wondering how the show went and how the local fighters did, can someone let everyone know what happned

Anonymous said...

Farmers show in winchester was well attended ,400 or so I would guess and most of the fights were
very entertaining especially the main event. It went the full eight rounds with Farmer winning a unanimous decision but with both fighters coming out of the ring with swollen eyes and with Baker having a sore body ,today I would guess.Cujo fought some guy they said was from Las Vegas but probobly was from some town in the south. He could fight a little but really just more of the same ol same ol from Sigmon.
don't really recall the other fighters names but there were a couple lighter classes that brought the crowd to their feet.
All in all everyone left there happy they had went.

Anonymous said...

can someone tell me why farmers shows are never on boxrec, its like if these fights are just exhibitions, also we never hear of the results from the show

Brian said...

What is it with you people and boxrec?

Anonymous said...

we follow boxrec because that is one of the few ways to find out how fights turned out, thats why
wouldn't you like to be informed of what the results were from a local boxing show,
what if your fighter was fighting someone with no record when he really has ring experience, just that it is nowhere to be found if i was a manager i would like to scout a fighter that would be going against mine.
that is one way to scout fighters,
it is like basically false information of your taxes.

Anonymous said...

if it was not for boxing along the beltway we wouldnt even know about the show and you probably believe you know alot of boxing when really you do not know anything,
your probably just a low class trash person cursing on the web feeling tough that you cussed at a computer screen

Andrew "The Doo Man" Farmer won by UD, Scott ( Cujo) Sigmon won,Colton (Guy doing MMA)won,Ronnie Carrington won (pro debut),Richie Andrews won by TKO. Great night of fights, glad I went,Excellent show, will be sure to attend more of Scott Farmers events.

Again its BOXREC. It is a reference guide at best. It is not an official records keeper nor is it recognized by any commissions and governing bodies. That is why some Commissions choose not to supply them with information.
