Top Beltway Prospects Get ShoBox Date May 13!

Undefeated Beltway Boxers Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell and "Mr" Gary Russell, Jr. -- the 2010 co-BATB Prospects of the Year -- will be involved in a Showtime ShoBox telecast on Friday, May 13 at Buffalo Bill's Star Arena in Primm, NV.

The Brandywine, MD heavyweight Mitchell (21-0-1, 15 KO's), regarded by many as the current top heavyweight prospect in the country, will take on Evans "The Sandman" Quinn of Miami, FL by way of Nicaragua (20-5-1, 18 KO's) in the 10-round main event. Mitchell is coming off a second-round TKO over Charles Davis on March 5 in Anaheim, CA. Quinn has scored first-round knockouts in his last two bouts.

Russell, the 2008 Olympian and Capitol Heights, MD featherweight (15-0, nine KO's) will take on one of his most notable foes in Dat "Be Dat" Nguyen of Vero Beach, FL (17-1, six KO's) in the opening bout on the telecast, scheduled for eight rounds. Russell won his last round by six-round unanimous decision over Adolfo Landeros on April 15 in San Francisco, CA. Nguyen has not fought since October 2009 when he won an eight-round unanimous decision over Andres Ledesma in Houston, TX.

Folks, this will be the first of some big upcoming bouts involving Beltway Boxers coming up in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

G. Russell and Seth have been very impressive I expect to see world championship's for them in the near future. Then hopefully they will bring some exciting show's back to DC, instead of this crap they have been calling boxing.

I hear Russell pulled out due to back injury? True?

Don't know whether it is because of his back, but I have heard Russell's bout got moved to a Showtime date on May 27. Haven't heard that officially yet, though.
