Kisner looked pretty good. Good movement and his left hand blistered Johnson pretty much the whole fight.
I hope to get info from the Golden Gloves early next week.

i was a bit disappointed with stevenson, everyone knows rivera cant take punch, not putting rivera to sleep calls your punching power into question.
it shows that stevensons been fed alot of soft opposition.going the distance with a fragile guy like rivera is not a good sign.
What? Stevenson is very skilled and Rivera gots heart.VA bums getting exposed?They didn't get blown out or stopped in 1 round-they put up pretty good fights and came out on the losing ends of decisions-how is that getting exposed?
keeping hyping, i know you gotta pump these phoney match-ups! i expect this in virginia,your state
has a rep to uphold! but boxing needs REAL fights if its going to
survive.anyone watching tape of cujo will quickly realize he has
ZERO boxing skill,the only reason
hes on the card is he will sell tickets, so keep matching him up with smaller guys who cant punch to

Something needs to be stated here. I don't know where people are saying that Rivera can't take a punch. Rivera has only been stopped twice in his 16 bouts.
The first took place in Rivera's second bout against a very tough and hard hitting Charles Norwood and the second time was when Rivera retired on his stool in the fifth round against a very good Latif Mundy.
Rivera is a very tough boxer who (and if you listen to the BATB Wrap-Up, he admitted it) was very flat last night.
how many times has rivera been knocked down? i know several times,
and not by huge punchers.
look at the records of the people who rivera has fought, very telling.
and hes been dropped by some very questionable opposition.
i guess the digital hype man doesnt want to answer the question! i dont blame him it would expose him as a shameless salesmen of these phoney
shows.
Floyd Patterson once told me that it's not how many times you get knocked down, it's how many times you get back up. I know of only five times Rivera has been knocked down, but only twice that he has been stopped.
Please, enough with the hating. I WAS there. All four main event fighters gave it their all and acted professionally. Nicklow DID win, but Sigmon certainly was game and in the fight. Stevenson DID win, but Rivera was at least game. The REAL disappointing display of poor skills that I saw was from just a few members of the crowd who showed poor behavior skills -- some by taunting, others by fighting. Security did a very good job and, in spite of the isolated crowd issues, this was a great night for beltway area boxing.

I've probably forgotten more about the Beltway "fight biz" than you have ever known.
Regardless of how many times Rivera has been knocked down, the fact remains that he has only been stopped twice. This shows that he does have a boatload of heart.
I've also seen just about every one of James Stevenson's encounters and I personally believe it was a solid performance. The fact is that this was a step up for Stevenson and although he didn't knock out Rivera, he showed good boxing skills and tough defense at times.
If you read my Year-in-Review from 2009, you would have seen that I said that this year was a pivotal year for Stevenson and that he needed to step up his competition. This was just a first step. Let's see what he does from here on out.
"digital hype master"? Are you kidding me? Man, you got some nerve. Gary tells it like it is and, pardon the pun, doesn't pull any punches when it comes to his boxing reports. I do have to ask: Have YOU ever even been to a local boxing show in this area? Last night's boxing show included some quality bouts. Actually, I thought the Todd Wilson - Dontre King fight was worth the price of a ticket alone. Gary, ignore the haters and keep fighting the good fight in supporting beltway boxing.
It was a GREAT show! Slick Nick got a KO. Wilson vs. King - Wilson's got heart and came back strong to win the last round and win the fight. Taylor-Carasquillo - I had Carasquillo winning the fight. Cujo-Nicklow - FIGHT OF THE YEAR! Stevenson-Rivera-solid performance by a solid fighter. CARD OF THE YEAR - IT'S A WRAP!

you know, my texas instruments calculator once told me if youve fought 15 fights and been put on your ass 5 times and put to sleep twice you go down one in every 3 fights and go to sleep in 1 in every 7.5 fights and this is by no means with world beaters, one k.o. was by someone whos only win in a boxing ring was a k.o. over rivera, yup,

teddy atlas told me" has a soft commission and weak fighters, a place you can pad a record. so basically like my personal friend and attorney johnny cochran

Why is this Anonymous so on "Rivera" and the VA Boxers? State your name and play your game "dum ass"! There is one thing I would like to say about "Mr. Rivera" he does not trash talk none of the fighters and/or his opponents. He is a man with a lot of class! None of you fighters/people that are on this blog are talented or good enough to hold a fight on HBO/SHOWTIME! You will never make the mega bucks!! So all that trash talk is cheap! You are all a bunch of local bums in BMORE!! Stop pointing the finger at what another fighter is doing and/or not doing and look at your broke ass in the mirror!

To the guy that says Rivera has no chin, he's wrong. Rivera's been stopped once, not twice as reported on boxrec. The fight with Mundy was later reversed to a Technical Decision loss because Rivera couldn't continue because of a cut to his eye. People that know Charles Norwood know that he can punch like a mule kick so saying Rivera has no chin, well you can stick that up your ass! He got dropped by Nicklow with a low blow, he got dropped by Norwood, and he got dropped by Ezeji when Ezeji stepped on his foot and hit him at the same time. Those are the only times Rivera has officially been down and the only one that was legit was the Norwood one.

what kind of drugs have you been taking.Both of them looked like a couple of Jerrys kids.Nicklow showed some skill at times but nothing really impressive.Cujo was in good shape for fighting a smaller man.All the bulshit about
who won what rounds.Nicklow 8 rounds Sigmon 2 rounds.Effective blows landed thats rhe name of the game.Nicklow was fatigued but never hurt.Sigmon was hurt several times.Maryland a clear winner.
