and was it me but did the ring card girls look like 13 yr old sex slaves
and their pimp was the worst announcer in boxing

how many fighters get anywhere
without any boxing skill? not
that i didnt enjoy watching the punches bounce off cujos fat head,
but when i watch boxing, i want to
watch boxers, no just toughguys
swinging there arms aimlessly!
has this cujo character ever spent
time in a boxing gym? or does he
just train for tough man contests?

George looked more on survival mode than anything. He appeared very comfortable at jabbing distance but covered up when Stevenson brought the fight to him. George managed to land a couple nice hooks at some points in the fight but Stevenson never looked phased. $40 ticket price will keep me from coming back to any Jake Smith cards though even though Nicklow and Cujo tried to make it worthwhile, as well as supporters of both fighters who came to blows with fists and chairs during the break for George's low blow.

Wow Stevenson looked really sharp in his first real test-he made a believer out of me.Its getting exciting seeing Mccall and Stevenson-2 talented LOCAL boxers-start to climb the pro ranks.

yea, but stevensons power definitly comes into question if
he cant put rivera to sleep. riveras chin is extremely fragile,
i know hes been ko'd and knocked down several times by soft opposition.

Gary,

Who would you like to see Cujo fight next? I would personally like to see him fight Ridgeway, but I don't think it would ever happen especially after Cujo getting beat by the much smaller Nicklow

i would like to see cujo fight to
keep his big mouth closed and concentrate on learning how to box!
he cant go any further than hes already gone, hes been exposed, either
learn the game, or retire at 22.
watching him fight i dont think he has the athletic ability to ever be
anything more than a tough guy contest opponent. but to listen to him talk youd think hes muhammed ali!
too funny! a great disconnect between
reality and his elevated idea of himself.hes fun to laugh at though,
a genuine walking joke! but cujo we arent laughing with you, we laughing at you!

Cujo won that fight by two points AND he didn't get credit for a knockdown in round 9 (ropes held up Nicklow) AND round 10. Official scores should have been 96 to 92 for Cujo.

Anonymous said...

LOL sorry Cujo lost

kinda easy to tell which posts were
made by lynchberg losers who dont know anything about boxing. the fact
that they proudly represent cujo (a complete bum of a fighter)pretty much tells the story. if this bum was fighting in a state with REAL boxers and a REAL commision, he would
have been sent to an early retirement already. after getting beat by a junior middle weight he
should retire....what a p.o.s.!!

Stevenson, you need to choose a better entourage. All that dirty dancing by your barn animal was unnecessary and not easy on the eyes. It was very offensive to the fans. I can understand why things got out of hand. I had my 8 year old daughter with me. We had to move to another location to avoid the repulsive behavior. I purchased VIP tickets. None of the Stevenson people had VIP bands. Why did security allow them to sit in the VIP section? It could of been avoided. Security did a great job in handling the outbreak!!

Anonymous said...

Hey Gary D, u missed a great night at the GG. I think it was the best night so far, thier were plenty of knock downs and knock-outs. And best of all we were graced with a visit from the GREAT SUGAR RAY LEONARD who stopped by and took pictures and signed autographs. He was thier to watch the number 1# 132lbs. in the country Kevin Rivers fromthe HeadBangers who is from Pakmer Park. I no our night was more exciting then the pro fights. I bet the fights at the GG were way more competetive.

Anonymous said...

Question? Why every time a BMORE boxer feels the pressure from their opponents they hit below the belt in order to disadvantage the other boxer? Not only dirty, dancing and dirty looking but also dirty fighting!!!!! No credit to Stevenson at all!!!! I agree with Nancy from OC, MD. Why were the barn animals sitting in the VIP section (no VIP bands). It was obvious they were looking for trouble. My wife and I moved to another section as well. The security at the arena did an excellent job. "Good job guys"!

Concerning the first post about the VA fighters having no talent. I think the VA fighters on the card had some talent. Todd Wilson has some talent and showed heart. Cujo lacks in talent but showed a lot of heart, toughness and will to win. Rivera has talent just not as much as Stevenson.
As far as Cujo's nut huggers in his little crew. Talk about classless behavior bring out a trash bag to the ring and trying to act like bunch of tough guys what a joke. to the tough guy who acted like he wanted to take on Jeter you don't know how close you came to having your feelings hurt and your Jaw broken.

We would love to fight Jessie Nicklow on Jake's next card. Cecil McCalla is ready for Jessie whenever, wherever & whatever!

I am just an area fight fan. Saw Jeter fight as an amatuer and he was a good fighter, though he had head gear. As a pro, he simply seems scared. Kwame Bumphus fight sent him into exile, James Shaddock seemded to scare him good.

I hear all the time from promoters and friends on the commission that he is impossible to matchmake bc he only fights upside down fighters with glass jaws. Nicklow, Paschall, Samuels, Arvin, Cujo, Rivera have all stepped up and fought a real bout. Jeter, over 10 years as a pro, don't you want to step up just once?

Tony, would you fight Cujo?

Your career is essentially done, but this could be your beltway championship. Cujo has a better record than anyone you ever fought, and he is certainly not scared or without heart. So the question is out there, do u have the heart to sign and fight Cujo? Or are you content with being the baddest man at Fitness One?

Anonymous said...

You mean second baddest man, I mean, person. Don't forget Grandma trains there too and she's already kicked The Bed Wetter's sorry ass!

He will NEVER fight Cujo! It was a pathetic display to see him fake and front and pose when Cujo left the ring! It was a joke and everybody knows it! He wouldn't have gone three rounds with Cujo on Saturday night.

Anonymous said...

Jeter, will you fight him? You taunted the man after he did his job. Cujo, showed up and fought, didnt beg the commission for a upside down, glass jawed Joe. Will you fight him? Or are you content with running your mouth in a controlled scenario?

Anonymous said...

is it true sigmon was on steroids? PED is cheating

"Jeter, will you fight him? You taunted the man after he did his job. Cujo, showed up and fought, didnt beg the commission for a upside down, glass jawed Joe. Will you fight him? Or are you content with running your mouth in a controlled scenario?"

That is the best quote on here that describes this whole situation in a nutshell. First, Jeter busts the windows out of Cujo's car. Then Jeter gets up in the Promoter's face when he's there doing his job and when Jeter knows nothing will happen (I'll take that big ass Promoter in a street fight over Jeter anyday!). Then Jeter makes a big scene after Cujo's fight with Nicklow when he knows that he will NEVER fight Cujo. Don't forget he did the same thing when Cujo fought Espinal. Now Jeter is fighting a guy who has been stopped in his last 4 fights in the first round and is there any wonder why people hate this pathetic guy?

Brian - yeah, we learned a lot in this fight. We learned that Malik Walid missed not one but TWO knockdowns. Nicklow fell against the ropes in round 9 and would have went down if not for the ropes. In round 10 he definitely went down after Sigmon clipped him and he called it a slip. We also learned that in Maryland it is okay for someone from Maryland to headbutt an out of town guy repeatedly. Nicklow caused not one but TWO cuts and headbutted Cujo at least 20 times during the fight. A 1 point deduction would have been called by every other commission out there after the second cut. We also learned that Don Risher has no idea what he's he's doing. 99 to 91? Get thicker glasses, get laser surgery, get a telescope. But until then, don't judge another boxing match. Cujo won that fight, 6 rounds to 4 easily. Throw in the 2 knockdowns that should have been called and take away 1 point for the continuous headbutting and Cujo wins that fight going away 96 to 91. NOT EVEN CLOSE!

Anonymous said...

Mike D, I'm a Maryland fight fan. I'm too old for cyber tough talk. Since you seem to be a friend of Jeter's, can you answer the question? Will he fight Sigmon? If not, why all the bs?

I watch a ton of cards. Jeter for what ever reason gets lots of attention for a guy who has never, ever beaten a fighter with Sigmon's record.

He's 34, been fighting for 10 years and has fought guys/scheduled to fight guys with an amazing combined record of 29 and 65. When will he step up? Does he just like beating up defenseless guys?

Anonymous said...

Jeter, Jeter, come out to play! Will you fight Sigmon? WIll you step up? Its a big step up for you, as he would mark your toughest opponent to date. I know you get real scared in the dressing room, to tears sometimes. Are you ready? Will you fight him?

Brian said...

I was actually going in the direction of the fights were good, all four headliners made good showings for themselves despite anyone's personal feelings towards them.

Also learned some people act likes Jack A$$es when out in public according to published reports. Although I can't verify cuz I wasn't there

And to your point we may have learned that officials may not always get it right.

Falling into the ropes does not and I don't think ever has warranted a knock down, I can't speak on the second instance of a knockdown you bring up I wasn't there.

I can only wait for the videos, but in all accounts a fighter who was seriously doubted EVEN BY ME made it a great fight.

Joe Hensley said...

Mike D -

I haven't gone anywhere. Your time will come.

Tony Jeter - if you get in my face again I will take you out.

James Stevenson is a good fighter. He won the fight against George. I do however question his dance skills and his orientation after his little display in the 7th round.

Cujo beat Nicklow 6 rounds to 4. I thought Cujo knocked him down in the tenth round but it was such an action packed and frenetically paced fight, mistakes are prone to happen and are just a part of the game. Malik Walid is the best ref in Maryland and even without the official knockdown Cujo still won. Cujo was prepared and he did his best and that is my definition of success. He didn't get the official win but he beat Nicklow up. If you ask yourself which fighter you would have rather been after the fight - Cujo or Nicklow - and you answer honestly, there is no doubt about who won! CUJO is the man! But hats off to Nicklow, I never expected him to make it through ten rounds with Cujo. Very, very tough guy and in tremendous shape. That was the most action packed and exciting fight I have ever seen and I am privileged to have witnessed it and been a part of it! Hats off to Jake Smith for putting on the Fight of the Year and The Card of the Year!

Anonymous said...

Tony didn't bust anybody's windows out thats ridiculous he went straight to his car and left there was security outside with him at the time because some guy got an erection and went crazy acted like he wanted to fight tony

Anonymous said...

Joe I will give you this if you asked which man would i have rather been it would have been Nickelow he won the fight, got engaged, and beat a man who outweighed him by atleast 20lbs. I will give say this Cujo was alot less spent after the fight, but he did not do enough in the alotted time to earn the victory. As far as you fighting Jeter let that go it's nonsensical you don't even believe that you can honestly beat Tony.

Let me ask you this put yourself in Tony's shoes and be honest. Would you fight somebody knowing it was going to line his pockets? Would Cujo fight Tony if Tony was promoting it? The answer is NO because you guys despise him and vice versa. It is what let it go its not going to happen it doesn't make enough economical sense. In the meantime spend some money on getting Cujo some boxing lessons. That dude if he knew how to throw a punch would be impossible to beat cause he has stamina unlike anything I have ever seen.

Mike D said...

Joe I won't even comment on you thinking Cujo won that fight. The so called knockdowns looked like pushes. Even if they were he didn't win the fight.
As far as you not going anywhere you begged off of my challenge. I was gonna come over to you at the fights and say hello but I wasn't gonna start any trouble with the already brewing situation with Tony. I was simply gonna come over and introduce myself but I figured I would leave it alone(plus I had my infant son with me.

Anyhow there you go again saying how are gonna take Tony out. How in the hell are you gonna do that? Hire a hitman, thats the only way you could.

Anonymous said...

what i dont get is, tony is 8-2 and so is cujo. just let them fight even a 8 rounder. honestly from a neutral stand point i think jeter is scared of cujo. cujo called him every name in the book, offered him good money and the man still turns it down. but will do nothing but talk shit. that is the sign of a coward. just fight him. people act as though this is a pay-per view fight. its not just sign the contract jeter. this is horrible that jeter just wont step up. and again im speaking from a neutral stand point. but yes i thought nicklow had won the fight clearly cujo had his moments but nickow clearly won. but one thing i have to say for cujo is at least he will step up and fight. and again im not biased just speaking a neutral mind. tony jeter is a coward in my opinion, and i think should step up and fight cujo at jakes next fight. tony turns down everything they offer and makes aa excuse for everything that he turns down, and just talks shit. piece of shit, he is what makes the bad part of boxing.

Anonymous said...

you all act as though tony shoudnt take this fight, cause hes so big all he has to do is make a right move and will be set for life. he isnt getting any calls. so just take the fight with cujo and make more then fighting a guy whos 3-8. ok so answer this wht will tony get more against cujo 8-2 or a 3-8 guy. stop making excuses and just fight you coward

can todd wilson really fight at all? because he got knocked down by a 1-6 fighter didnt he?

opinions on fights

1st fight- first off who said slick nick cant punch? wow. we all knew he could box but not punch like that. and to be able to take out a heavyweight who holds a steady record at 3-3 with 2 ko's easily is very impressive. johnson showed tremendous heart by taking a beating and not giving up.we knew kisner was good but it seems thats he's better then we thought. watch out everyone there is a new generation in cruiserweight boxing.

2nd fight- todd wilson is tested and passes. but with being 6-0 and almost took out and still winning a close decision over a guy 1-6 seems a little shaky. but overall he still passed and dontre king showed incrdible determination and heart and i think might be able to pull off a few upsets in his carrer. very exciting fight. congrats to both of them

3rd fight- very risky chance for manny taylor, but he passes. cassquillo is no joke and is a tough journeyman who has skills an with taylor only being 19 and only having 5 fights to take this was risky. but still he wins. this taylor is impressive and i think we might be able to see him do something one day. very good display from taylor in this fight and i want to see him some more hes very impressive

4th fight- what a fight. tremendous determination by both. nicklow boxed smart but sigmon never gave up. this was definently the best fight of the night. nicklow showed good boxing back ground. nicklow can box when he wants to. and looks pretty good at doing it. sigmon does not have the best skills but very tough and great determination. hats off to both men for such a great fight.

5th fight- good job by stevenson, but horrible by rivera. stevenson did what he had to do, and just clearly controlled the fight, and looked good doing it. rivera has 3 things tht he does excellent. jabs, runs and holds. what a disgrace. all this hype for nothing. he is definently not a good boxer and is very boring. but not a bad display by both men from what we have to take this was definenty the less entertaining of the night but also more to blame from rivera. i believe both of them could act more like proffesonals but either way it is what it is.

opinion awards

boxer of the night- kisner easily

fight of the night- nicklow and sigmon easily

worse display of the night- george rivera easily

shock of the night- king dropping and almost pulling off upset against wilson easily

Anonymous said...

Please, enough with the hating. I WAS there. All four main event fighters gave it their all and acted professionally. Nicklow DID win, but Sigmon certainly was game and in the fight. Stevenson DID win, but Rivera was at least game. The REAL disappointing display of poor skills that I saw was from just a few members of the crowd who showed poor behavior skills -- some by taunting, others by fighting. Security did a very good job and, in spite of the isolated crowd issues, this was a great night for beltway area boxing.

Joe Hensley said...

atsivtnirp2Mike D - I never "begged off" of your challenge, we'll get it on soon enough. And I don't need a "hitman" for Tony Jeter. I mean exactly what I say, if he gets in my face like he did on Saturday night, I will take him out right then and there. And yes, Cujo won that fight! We will have the video up on MajorLeagueBoxing.com and BaltimoreBoxing.com within the next week or two and you can see for yourself.

Why is this Anonymous so on "Rivera" and the VA Boxers? State your name and play your game "dum ass"! There is one thing I would like to say about "Mr. Rivera" he does not trash talk none of the fighters and/or his opponents. He is a man with a lot of class! None of you fighters/people that are on this blog are talented or good enough to hold a fight on HBO/SHOWTIME! You will never make the mega bucks!! So all that trash talk is cheap! You are all a bunch of local bums in BMORE!! Stop pointing the finger at what another fighter is doing and/or not doing and look at your broke ass in the mirror! And if Rivera was so boring why is his name on this blog by a jerk that won't sign his name and back up his comments?..."When people talk shit about other people it's good, when people stop talking that is when you are not important anymore."

I went to high school with Joe Hensley. Joe was caught stealing money from students out of their gym lockers. Joe used to skip gym class and sneak into the locker room, pry open lockers and steal wallets. He stole my wallet, which had $100 in it. Hensley got caught with a stash of wallets in his school locker, over 50 of them, one of them mine. Joe is as bad as they come. Don't trust anything he says or does.

Joe Hensley,

After the recent fights in Baltimore, I was beginning to believe that you had changed your ways for the better.

You were silent for a few days. I'm sure some of us were under the impression that you were rightly allowing the victors to enjoy their time in the spotlight without interference.

In silence, one can most readily preserve his dignity. I believe that the Langes have shown this recently in defeat.

Your recent posts are atrocious. Please think before you post as you are tearing down the sport we all love.

Joe signs his name and he becomes a target for you and people like you that dont know no better. I like the fact that he shows some balls and signs his real name when he posts. William is not defending Tony's actions he is only pointing the obvious which is Hensley acting in an infantile manner.

Hensley should have remained silent on the matter as a promoter and somebody who should remain above board. This is not a time or place to be discussing Jeter or airing personal greivances. Hensley should take note from his fighter Cujo, and give Nickelow his moment without interferring with this "beef" which has become far to drawn out and quite frankly dangerous. His making this into a three ring circus has caused himself to get involved in a capacity he is not equipped for, as well as fans in Lynchburg whom have been worked up in such a frenzy they believe it is their place to attack or attempt to attack boxers. Hensley as much as this may hurt for you to hear people show up to watch the fighters not you. Stop turning this into the Joe Hensley show, and if you want to be the main attraction sign a contract to fight somebody. Until then focus on your fighters because all of them have work to do based on their performances last week.

how do you make mention and applaud a man for attaching his name to a post and then you post anonymously? You state thats the actions of a coward well then what does that make you? If you are unable to see what this is turning into then you sir are the individual who needs to take a back seat and observe from an unbiased perspective.

When a fan gets hurt or even worse some fatality should befall one of these athletes then you will see what a detriment this Joe H is to the sport. It is okay to engage in verbal warfare as it creates an atmosphere like what was experienced Saturday, however when fans become minions and take on the role of emforcer thats when it becomes dangerous. Joe is not now or has ever been, a boxer. Joe put himself into this beef and these impressionable Lynchburg fans thought it was okay to stick their noses into it seeing as how Joe did. This is a classic example of the blind leading the blind. Somebody is going to get hurt and it's going to be a black eye on the sport and this area. Joe and Cujo have fueled this and once again when the proverbial shit hits the fan ultimately the blame will fall squarely on their laps as they have been the ones involving partial fans preying on their fans ignorance.

You want to talk about ignorance I saw a 50 year old man with his wife beer in hand attempt to attack Jeter. Is that not ignorant? Would any man or woman with any common sense do this? Not where I am from. Joe let the fighters fight, the promoters promote, and the fans cheer. Thats all we ask show some dignity and respect for the sport.

This is whats wrong with the sport involving drunk, unreasonable, and impressionable fans. Both of you should be embarrased by half the things you say and do. BTW Cujo how long are you going to be out for after your eye was split open?

Yes I do.Ridgway and I are trying to work on something. As far as Jeter he is too busy vandalizing cars to worry about a fight, but Jeter will not show his face around me again I promise because my fans and I will end him.Ridgway is a man Jeter however is not.Congratulations to Nicklow great fight appreciate the opportunity. CUJO

How can the man "remain above board" as u say when Jeter rushes him and gets in his face? Whats he supposed to do? Tuck tail and piss on his leg? The mans got to defend himself if it comes to it and Jeter got in Joes face not the other way around.

Anonymous said...

I know Joe very very well. Nicest guy in the whole world. Looks like a big teddy bear and is 99.9% of the time. You Jeter have messed up big time by getting in that big mans face and trying to scare the man. Jeter is out of here.

Anonymous said...

I was not there but for anyone to get into another person's face is not acceptable. I would have put him on his ass with the quickness. I have seen Joe stick up for his fighters which is what I would expect. Joe did not promote the show he was there for his boxers. Now for a group of men to go after a bunch of women shows they had no class. One thing for sure you would never see the people of Lynchburg would never act like this. They should be arrested and banned for all boxing matches.

I really have a problem with people not giving Joe H credit.
I mean really, hes a boxing promoter in virginia, kind of like being a general in the french army(not alot to work with)His success
means one of two things: he has a lifetime supply of turd-polish,or
hes just a great salesmen of a lousy product. And his true genius shows thru when he picks the most
fertile ground for his shows, i mean if your promoting boxing shows
and your fighters dont know how to
box, how about promote the sweet science in a place where they dont
believe in science "lynchburg" i mean people there believe the earth
is only 6 thousand years old, and
jesus road around on a brontosaurus.Perfect place for faith based boxing, where cujo will win because thats what jesus wants.Think about this: 2 people going to one of these phoney shows will pay more than the cost of a pay per-view show of "REAL BOXERS"
in these hard times joe tells them,
"hey, dont pay for looking at micheal angelos painting at the sistine chapel, looking at these stick figures drawn in crayolas by
cujo for MORE MONEY!and it works!
hopefully for joe's sake the in-breading continues in lynchburg.
I do have a suggestion for a sponsor for cujo GEICO!! show a few
clips of cujo flopping around in the ring and say "GEICO, SO EASY A CUJO CAN DO IT"

"WHAT? Who attacked anybody? From Lynchburg or anywhere else? Jeter was the one that got in Joe's face and Joe didn't back up. I saw it all! Who got thrown out? Was it Joe or was it Jeter? It was Jeter you Fucking idiot!"

Unfortunately you appear to lack the intelligence to read, absorb, and decipher the message I was trying to convey. First of all there were several in Cujo's entourage who attempted to attack Jeter as he was leaving not being kicked out, he decided on his own that it would be best to leave. The incident with Joe H occured prior to the second bout Jeter left after the fourth. My point is it is never a fans place to take it to that level look at other sports baseball, tennis, etc... When FANS cross that line it is a recipe for disaster. As far as the "remaining above board" part was Joe utilizing this site to spew his disdain for a fighter and going as far as challenging him to a fight. I would have had no problem if Joe feeling he was being attacked defended himself. My problem is the line that he has crossed and incited others to cross. Cujo stated himself what he and his fans would do to Jeter. As much as two men may dislike one another, they should have enough respect for the sport to know better than put the fans an a potentially dangerous situation.

If you are unable to understand that you are the idiot and you are the one who does not have respect for this sport, its fans, or its participants. I am sure there are many fine citizens in Lynchburg, but Saturday the Lynchburgs finest were not on display. Joe stop stirring the pot it is not going to get any better.

Rounds 1 through 8 of Cujo vs. Nicklow is up at www.MajorLeagueBoxing.com. Let it be known who won!

Anonymous said...

Looked at video. Cujo won 96 to 95 and won rounds 1,4,6, 9, 10. Jessie won rounds 2, 3, 7, and 8. Round 5 was even. Cujo should have gotten credit for a knockdown in round 10!

Anonymous said...

Just watched videos of fight. Nicklow won for sure. Most striking thing I picked up from fight is Cujo punches like a girl.

Anonymous said...

i watched the video and there is no doubt that Jessie won that fight.

Anonymous said...

and after sigmons pathetic showing against a much smaller man who cant punch means his days of
being considered a future contender are over. youve been exposed as nothing more than joe
h's media creation. with nothing what so ever to back it up. no power, no skill, no class. now please do us all a favor and go away!

Anonymous said...

Cujo won that fight and won 7 rounds of that fight.

Anonymous said...

"CUJO IS THE MAN" It is obvious Cujo won the fight. In order for him to had claimed his victory he needed to KO Jessie. No need to cry over spilled milk. Every dog has their day..what goes around comes around.

"Rounds 1 through 8 of what has been called The Fight Of The Decade"

Shameless

Anonymous said...

Has Cujo been knocked out before in sparring or something he looks very timid when he has punches coming at him. Also he has zero power because of how he throws his ppunches but I bet he has faster hands than most people are ready to give him credit for. He definitely is not ready for any real competition he is horrible.

Brian said...

Well it has been 5 days since the show. I finally have been able to see rounds 1-8 and you know what. It was a tough fight to score...

I watch it two times. Using all the criteria of judging a fight...
News flash no matter how you slice this thing, neither one of them were winning convincingly after 8.

I had it 78-77 Nicklow... All the rounds were close.
rounds 1-2 were Jessie's
rounds 3-4 were Sigmon's
rounds 4-7 were Even
round 8 was Jessie's

So with that I can't wait to see 9 and 10.. I will say this; in my opinion that weight is too small for Sigmon and that weight maybe too big for Nicklow..

For the competitive fight it was there was far too much clutching, grabbing, and making out on the ropes.

Brian said...

just watched rds 9-10

Nicklow won rounds nine closely...He hit him with too many cleans straight left hands in the first 1:30 Cujo came on late in round, but didnt do enough

round 10 was Sigmon's very convincingly. You can make a valid arguement on a knockdown but you can't call it one because it wasn't ruled one.

So final score for me was
Nicklow 97-Sigmon 96..
Good fight far from a blow out.

Anonymous said...

Shut Up Brian, stop acting like it matters what you say...

Anonymous said...

Jessie made an easy fight look difficult,he was not at his top form and should have stuck to boxing. I give Cujo a lot of credit for hanging tough and not backing down.
It was Wilson who learned the most.He will never under-estimate a journeyman again.

Anonymous said...

Judges are discouraged from awarding even rounds; It makes you a weak judge! I was rindside and I could care less about who won this fight. Look very close boxing fans, notice how Nicklow had his hands up and was bobbing and weaving, blocking most of Cujo's salvos. Notice the body shots that Nicklow threw that scored almost at will, slowing Cujo down and making him think twice. At the end of the fight one guy looked like he'd been beaten with brass knuckles and the other guy proposed marriage. BTW Cujo won the 10th rd. He's got a big heart and he was in shape. He should be learning a lesson from this experience. Maximum respect to both combatants!

Brian said...

Yes judges are discouraged from scoring even rounds, but when neither guy does anything to win it why should you score it for someone?

Anonymous said...

There are other considerations when scoring fights. This fight had 3 very close rds. Some were won by a body shot here and a round ending flurry there. Just because a fighter throws alot of punches does not mean he's scoring points. The scoring punches have to be NOT blocked or partialy blocked or rolled with but good hard scoring shots. Body shots are to be noticed and scored and can very often determine the winner of the rd.

Anonymous said...

what about damaging blows? did nicklow ever hit cujo with anything that hurt him? no! other than his head which caused the cuts. they got this one wrong, cujo won 7 to 3. 97 to 92. Im counting the knockdown in the 10th even though the ref missed it.

Anonymous said...

that fight was good for wilson and im sure he learned a lot. but we also learned alot about him. he got back up when many wouldnt and completely turned the fight around.

Anonymous said...

Besides Brian remember with Cujo having his head in the air to a judge some blows may not have been damaging but with his style it looked worse. This was not a close bout Cujo threw a lot of punches but his lack of boxing prevented them from gaining him favoritism with the judges. Cujo did not control the action. He was slapping and most shots were blocked, and he constantly looked off balance. He had some flurries but most punches were blocked

Anonymous said...

Just saw the 10th round -- those were not knock-downs, not even close. Joe H. and Scott S. -- you both would be well-served by getting Scott some very basic boxing lessons. Scott doesn't throw punches -- he pushes them, and sideways at that. Scott keeps his head upright without any movement at all -- like a pig pumpkin on a silver platter waiting to be smashed. Joe, you are going to get Scott hurt out there. Scrap the plan of having Scott fight every month and take 6 months off to focus on the basics.

Anonymous said...

Yeah Brian just showed how much he knows about boxing Cujo did nothing to warrant the final round and those were not even close to being knowcked down neither time a punch was thrown

Anonymous said...

This was a close fight I scored it 95 to 95. I gave no even rounds, but the ref did a horrible job. Jessie Led with his head and both fighters were guilty of hitting and holding. There were no knock downs in the fight, Jessie was just exhausted in the 10 round, and was pushed down.

Both Fights fought like warriors and deserve a lot of credit.

I hope there can be a rematch made sometime in the future.

Anonymous said...

It's hard for Cujo to pick up points when he can't box and looks so awkward. He tries hard though.

Anonymous said...

good fight that cujo won. jessie was tough and has a better looking style but he didnt win the fight. i want to see cujo and jeter. i saw jeter get in about 3 different fights outside the ring on saturday. how about fighting cujo in the ring? i would think cujo would fight you since hes fought several tough guys already in his career. will jeter fight cujo? im sure jake smith would promote it.

Anonymous said...

i never want to hear about joe h's
no talent, media creation again. we
found out, once and for all, the guy
cant even handle a guy 3 weight divisions beneath him. and jesse
isnt even a puncher at 154.cujo is
a no talent fraud! how about we focus
on boxers that deserve the attention
for their skill, not no talent,no power tough guys, who talk the talk,
but have no business robbing fans of
their hard earned money. LASSIE GO HOME!

Anonymous said...

Is it just me, but do Cujo's punches look like harmless bitch slaps? Get back to basics, baby.

Anonymous said...

Be careful Scott Sigmon. I had a converstaion with Joe Hensley two days ago and Joe admitted to me and others in the conversation that he is looking at new boxers to bring into his stable, and that Scott is not a real long-term propspect because he'll never be able to promote Scott outside of Lynchburg. Scott, Joe is getting ready to de-emphasize you. Scott, I'm not a fan, but I do respect you for your work ethic. I thought you should know this.

Brian said...

I scored the 10th for Sigmon because Nicklow did nothing. Didn't do much at all but slip some slaps.
Sigmon came forward albeit with pitter patter and off balance punches, but he pressed the action.

Now these are the four criteria's judges are supposed to use when scoring a fight.
Clean Punching
Effective Aggression
Ring Generalship
Defense

Effective blows only counts for 25%of the scoring criteria its not the main criteria

proper technique: not a criteria
how much a punch hurts: not a criteria

Anonymous said...

Brian you have probably read a ton of books on boxing but you need to do more than that, judges do not break things down like that what you described is what judges look for but their eyes don't lie they go off what they see there is no percentage table they use. cujo was coming forward but not for any other reason than jesse's movement was leaving him off balance thats not ring generalship thats jusat clumsy. A judge has seen enough boxing to know if they see a guy throwing a bunch of slappping punches that are blocked they are not going to give him the round.

Brian said...

Actually I never read one boxing book in my life. I was merely following the ABC's criteria for judging.

Now as fans of the game we tend to see things as we WANT to see them, not as they are. Sigmon was off balance several times, and slapping 80% of the times. Nicklow was diving head first in with his eyes looking straight down for most of the last 3 rounds, and pott shotting with his straght left hand (which is how I thought he won the fight).

Do judges put more emphasis on clean punching, yup probably, but it isnt the only thing too look at as 85% of the windbags on this website do.

Jessie scored several points slipping and sliding punches, Sigmon scores for pushing the pace.. I NEVER and please pay close attention SAID CUJO SCORED ON CLEAN PUNCHING.

I think what I said is when two guys are doing nothing but making out along the ropes, you have to score it for NOBODY...

We see what we want to see.

Now for all Sigmon's people and Nicklow's people. Take the hate and disdain for each other, watch the fight again through sober goggles then tell me what you think.

It is only natural to think that YOUR GUY won in a close fight. Me I am a fan of neither with loyalty to neither, so there was no bias at all. I called as I saw it.

Anonymous said...

thats right cujo, joe will love you
as long as you put money in his pocket, now that youve gone as far
as you can go you will find out that joe h's only loyalty is to money! ol blood and guts joe,
his guts your blood!

No, he's not. His boxers have been exposed as no talents. In my 45+ years as boxer, ref and coach, I have never seen a hyped boxer with as little skill as Scott Sigmon. Big heart, but no skill - and he can't be taught - he doesn't have the coordination in him. His big heart will ultimately get him hurt. The talk in the inner circles is that Joe H. knows Scott as been exposed and is going in another direction.
