Manfredo Jr. Headlines Ogden Benefit in Cockeysville November 5!

In an interesting coincidence, the Beltway has been blessed with boxers who were a part of the first season of "The Contender" all year long. Of course, the Beltway's own Jimmy Lange is here and his most recent opponent was one of his east teammates, Jonathan Reid. The area also has been visited by Joey Gilbert and Jesse Brinkley. Also, in 2007, another first season Contender star -- Anthony Bonsante -- fought on an area card.

Now comes word that world title contender Peter Manfredo, Jr. of Providence, RI will headline the Jonathan Ogden benefit boxing card on Thursday, November 5 at Martin's Valley Mansion in Cockeysville, MD.

Manfredo (32-6, 17 KO's) was the runner-up to Contender champ Sergio Mora, fought for the WBO Super Middleweight championship against Joe Calzaghe in April of 2007 and lost by third-round TKO.

Manfredo's opponent will be Ronald "Cobra" Weaver of New Orleans, LA (29-18-2, 22 KO's). Weaver has lost his last four bouts.

No word yet on whether any Beltway Boxers will be on this card. This means there will be two charity boxing cards on the same night. Fight Night takes place on November 5 at the Washington Hilton and Towers.
