Featherweight Kevin Rivers of Landover, MD has advanced to the third round of competition at the Amateur World Championships in Milan, Italy.
Rivers defeated Bashir Hassan of Sweden, 9-5 in today's second round action. Rivers will now face Russian Sergey Vodopiyanov in Tuesday's third round contest. Vodopiyanov advanced with a 22-4 decision over Yerzhan Mussafirov of Kazahkstan.
