Day 3 Golden Gloves Results!

Three more Junior Division champions were crowned last night on the third day of competition at the Washington Golden Gloves Tournament at the Sugar Ray Leonard Boxing Center in Palmer Park, MD. Here are those results:

9-10, 60 pounds: Dwayne Holmes, Jr. (Old School Boxing) defeated Chris Normile (Cherry Lane)

9-10, 75 pounds: Mansabury Conde (Cherry Lane) defeated Daniel Walsh (Old School)

15, 152 pounds: Xavier Ward (Supreme Defence) defeated Justin Hurd (Hillcrest)


In Novice Division results:

132 pounds: Seth Billups (Old School) RSC-3 over Winfield Goldring (Upton)

141 pounds: Johnny DaSilva (Round One) defeated Daryean Gomez (Cherry Lane)

152 pounds: Marques Taylor (Tony's Gym) defeated Darryl Jacobs (Nomis)

152 pounds: Charles Brumfield (Dream Team) RSC-3 over Pavel Mimchev (Unattached)

178 pounds: Manuel Ramos (Olympia Boxing) defeated Quincey Nelson (Hillcrest)



In Open Division results:

132 pounds: Charles Dobbins (Club One) defeated Hugh Hinds (Keely's Boxing)

132 pounds: Elvis Medrano (Old School) defeated Roger Blackburn (Upton Boxing) This was the bout of the night -- incredible back and forth action.

141 pounds: Cornelius Whitlock (Midtown) RSC-2 over Zachary Macintosh (Frederick)

141 pounds: Marlon Bolen (Cherry Lane) defeated DeMarcus Wiley (Sugar Ray Leonard Center)

152 pounds: Alantez Fox (Dream Team) defeated Sherman Artis (Club One)

165 pounds: Eric Govan (Jeff Gordon/Laurel) defeated Allan Perkins (Frederick)

165 pounds: Jarrett Hurd (Hillcrest) defeated Barrington Smallwood (Tony's Gym)

The quarterfinal round will be on Saturday, March 14 at the Sugar Ray Leonard Gym beginning at 7:30 PM.

  4. What is that a joke. He seemed like a nice kid but give me a break. His opponent was pretty bad and very open yet he couldnt capitalize. A real good novice fighter would of knocked out that opponent in 1 round and at most 2.
