The opponent has been named for former WBO Junior Welterweight champion DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley's 10-round main event bout on Tuesday, February 3 at the Meadowlands Sheraton Hotel in East Rutherford, NJ.
His name is Wilson Enrique "Topadora" Galli of Miami, FL by way of Salto Uruguayo, Uruguay (31-8, 13 KO's), a former world title contender who lost to Artur Grigorian for the WBO Lightweight title in November of 1999. Galli, whose nickname means "bulldozer," has fought throughout South America and Europe, but this will be his first bout in the United States. This will also be his first bout of any kind since April of 2002.
Corley (32-10-1, 18 KO's) mentioned in a press release that, if successful on Feb. 3, he is targeting newly-crowned and two-time IBF Junior Welterweight champion Juan Urango.
By the way, undefeated Laurel, MD heavyweight "The Big Ticket" Dwayne McRae, who was slated to be on this card on its original date of January 22, will not appear on this card and focus his efforts on the Friday, February 20th card in Westminster, MD. Baltimore heavy Hannibal Otey who also slated on the January 22 version of the card, remains on the bill.
