Big Stretch of Beltway Amateur Boxing Events!

There is a huge stretch of major amateur boxing events coming to the area between now and mid-April. The stretch actually began on January 16 with the Paschall Promotions show at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD. Although I was unable to attend the show, many people have said that the show was VERY well attended.

Here is the schedule for this great time for Amateur Boxing Along The Beltway:

Saturday, January 24 and Saturday, January 31 -- the 2009 USA Open Tournament at Tony's Gym, 2201 Shannon Place in Southeast Washington. Bouts will begin at 7 PM on both nights. This will be a fund raiser to help raise money for travel expenses.

February 5-7 Silver Gloves National Championships, Independence, MO -- 25 Beltway Amateurs will participate in the tournament.

Washington Golden Gloves Championship Tournament

Begins on Saturday, February 21 at the Sugar Ray Leonard Community Center, 7707 Barlowe Road in Palmer Park, MD.

The tournament will run for the next three Saturdays (February 28, March 7 and March 14) all at SRL.

The semi-finals will also be at SRL on Saturday, March 21. All cards at SRL begin at 7:30.

The Washington Golden Glove Championship Finals will be on Friday, March 27 at the Waldorf Jaycees Community Center, 3090 Crain Highway in Waldorf, MD, beginning at 8 PM.

The Golden Glove Regional Championships -- Pitting the Washington/Maryland Championships against the winners from Virginia/North Carolina will be Friday, April 17 also at the Waldorf Jaycees at 8 PM.

And if that wasn't enough, the National Collegiate Boxing Championships will be held at the University of Maryland's Ritchie Coliseum in College Park, MD on Friday-Sunday, April 2, 3 and 4.
