Results From Glen Burnie!

Here are the results from the Ballroom Boxing card at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD:

Pasadena, MD super middleweight Mike "The Persecutor" Paschall put on a strong performance in winning an eight-round unanimous decision over veteran Larry "The Laser" Marks of New Castle, DE. Paschall controlled the action in the ring throughout and showed solid ring generalship that frustrated Marks. Judges Don Risher and Malik Waleed scored a shutout for Paschall, 80-72 while judge John Gradowski had it 78-74. Paschall is now 17-0-1, four KO's while Marks is 29-10-1, 16KO's.

Brandywine, MD heavyweight Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell scored a crushing second-round technical knockout over Alexis Cruz Medina of Science Hill, KY. Mitchell was all business from the opening bell and eventually landed a crushing right hand that had Medina bouncing off the ropes onto his knees and out. Referee Gary Camponeschi stopped the bout immediately at 1:23 of the second. Mitchell is now 3-0-1, two KO's while Medina is 0-4-1.

Debuting Baltimore heavyweight Kevin Johnson registered a fourth-round TKO over Glen Burnie's Danny Kisner. During the bout, Kisner suffered a injury to his right shoulder. The shoulder started to really hurt in the third round but Kisner was able to finish it. But Johnson put Kisner away with a right hand that dropped Kisner. Referee John Gradowski stopped the contest at 20 seconds of the fourth. Kisner was taken to a nearby hospital and was unable to be in the corner to coach Paschall. Kisner now has a record of 1-1, one KO.

Also on the card, Adrian, MI cruiserweight Harvey "Candy Man" Jolley scored a crushing first-round TKO over "The People's Champion" Jonathan Felton of Stafford, VA. Jolley used great hand speed and two crushing right hands to drop Felton twice before the bout was stopped at 1:14 of the round. Jolley is now 8-8-1, five KO's while Felton is 5-10, five KO's.

Brooklyn, NY light heavyweight William Jeter knocked out debuting Calvin "Shotgun" Aughtry of DC in the third round. Jeter almost knocked out Aughtry with the first punch he threw in the bout, but Aughtry was game before being stopped by a Jeter right hand at 2:02 of the third. Jeter is now 2-0, one KO.

The co-feature of the card saw Carney "The Fireman" Bowman of York, PA remain undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over Edward Valdez of Brooklyn, NY. Bowman looked sharp throughout the contest using solid rights against Valdez, who fought primarily to survive the contest. Bowman is now 10-0, four KO's while Valdez falls to 3-5-2, two KO's.

I stood in the opposite corner with my fighter Kevin Johnson Thursday at Michael’s 8th Ave, in what turned out to be a very tough match with the one and only Danny Kisner. Kevin and I worked hard to prepare for this fight. We felt confident that our hard work and dedication would pay off for us with a win. I have to say that we got much more than we bargained for. Danny fought an intelligent, tactical and courageous fight and gave us all a tremendous performance. The action was back and forth with Kevin attempting to keep his jab working and follow that with some big right hands. Danny was hard to hit as he would slide to his right and dip down and make the shots either miss or land in a way that would not touch him cleanly. Danny has a way of setting traps and making walk right into them. Many years ago Danny trained at the Mack Lewis gym. There he developed an over hand right that was his trade mark shot. That was punch that he used effectively back then. He brought that punch with him Thursday. Danny would throw some monstrous counter over hand rights. He came razor thin close to stopping Kevin, but somehow he was able to withstand those shots and remain on his feet. Early in the fourth round Kevin caught Danny with a hard straight right hand putting Danny on his back. When he got up the referee decided that Danny could no longer continue and stopped the contest. I later found out Danny had suffered an injury to his left shoulder.
I have to say that Danny Kisner showed me a lot in that fight. He has heart, skill and he in nothing to play with at all. I was happy with that win but as far as Danny Kisner is concerned well I say he is a hell of a man. In boxing someone wins at the same time someone loses. That night we saw two men who showed all of us what courage is all about. I send my respect and admiration to you Danny Kisner.

Get Real , The dude can't fight ,does not train and looked worst than an novice. We all thought it look like a side show, Poor match making. How in the world did Pat issue the out of shape dude a lic. to box is beyound me.It looked like a poor street fighter and a bad one at that . Heard he sells tickets thats why they let the dude get in the ring in the first place. The least he could do is get into some kind of shape!

The Guy may not be that good of a fighter, but at least he gave it his best shot.i think to fight out of shape either shows one to be very tough or very stupid or maybe both.Just glad he did not get hurt.

That was the worst fight in the history of Ballroon Boxing. If Danny couldnt beat Kevin johnson he should never fight again. The whole card was bad.

It is disturbing to see the way we look at boxing in such a negative light. These fighters train, work hard and get in that ring and give their all. Fighters get hurt, get paralyzed and even die for our entertainment and in most cases a meager purse. This was not roy against tarver or hagler against leanard, but they gave you what they had. Two closely matched men skill wise go for it with what they have. Danny was in great pain with a shoulder injury and had to go to be medically treated. Boxing is one sport where they kick you when you are down without hesitation. Where is the sympathy and appreciation.

Now I know why Felton acted the way he did with Askia...
