Nick, I warned you several times not to fight this guy. As usual you refuse to listen. Now look, you lost in front of everyone. You need to start listening to people.
Now, lets get back in the gym and show everyone that you can do it. Please do not drop out-of-sight like before. Get your ass back in the gym monday morning.Everyone is saying that you will never box again. Lets prove them wrong. We can find you some easy pickings.
Kentucky and West VA have some guys trying to earn a buck or two.
I spoke to you last night right after the fight and you seem really down, but Nick do you really think you can win a fight when you refuse to run or train properly. Maybe this guy kicking your ass will wake you up. I know you have the capitably of beating a few guys out there. You need to Listen to Gabie. He does tell you like it is. He will even give you a ride to the gym if you want. He lives within two miles of your parents. Sharon was crying last night after seeing you on the canvas. She thinks you did not try your best. She has not slept a wink. She also wants her money back for the ticket. Someone told her that she was sitting ringside and her seat was all the way in the back. You need to call her immeeditlee. I hope to see you monday morning. Lets get back in shape like you were before. I will help you in anyway possiville if you put out an effort. Stop by the car lot tuesday before noon. I got several pictures of the fight for you.

Careleo did not make the weight and they fined him. He was given $200.00 for the fight. After paying some expenses, he walked out of there with 45 dollars.
I am not sure if he really wanted to make the weight.

Good Morning Nick, they are hiring right now at Candies Hardware store in Laplata Maryland!

As a long time fan of Ballroom Boxing, I must honestly say that the fights last night pretty much sucked. I paid $100 for a ringside seat to see 5 non-competitive bouts in which only one fight went past the 3rd round. 7 fights were scheduled, but only 5 were shown. This has been pretty much the story for the past several Ballroom fights that I have attended.

In the first fight, a much smaller Felton got KO'd by a jab to the top of the head. In the 2nd fight, a smaller Lara went down on one knee in the second round and didn't get up. The 3rd fight (a 41 year old heavyweight making his pro debut) was stopped in the 2nd round for reasons unknown. Nick Carolaeo walked time and time again straight into his opponent and took a spanking for 3 rounds in the 4th fight causing the ref to stop it. The main event featured a guy who hadn't fought in 8 years against a country bumnpkin.

What happened to the competitive fights that used to be the trademark of the Ballroom? I keep going thinking that the fights will get better but they just do not get better. Maybe if they paid the fighters more $$, they'd get better fighters fighting better fights. At $100 for a ringside seats, there should be enough $$ for the promotor and matchmaker to do a much better job than has been the case with the fights last night and in the recent Ballroom fights that I attended.

On a more positive note, it was good to see the wounded veterans from Walter Reed medical center in the ring enjoying a night out. Props to them for their sacrifices serving the country. Whether you agree with the direction of the war on terror on not, the troops need to be supported. Props also to Scott Wagner for arranging their transportation and seats for the fights.

I thought that show was terrible didn't see a good fight at all. I saw Big Phill and Boyd looked they are learning. Ok so now when do they step up in. And Chris good match making. You got Jarrel and Nick ass beat. I tell you what you don't care you get paid to the boxer around beltway beat.(LAUGH)

Gary Digital Williams said...

Don't blame Chris for Jarrell and Nick's performance. Jarrell did not fight well at Suitland last month. That's his fault. The same with Nick, who doesn't fight enough, in my opinion.

(Disclaimer: I worked as a Ballroom commentator for years . . . ) That said, I don't agree with the griping about the quality of the show. Yeah, some of the fights were less than quality compared to Ballroom shows gone by, but who in the hell in there wasn't having fun Thursday night? Danny Kisner, Nick, Carson and whoever else must have sold a helluva lot of tickets. Good for them. Mark and Ham Johnson's 37-year-old protege Ronald Boyd was raw, but, boy, did he look strong. Reuel Williams was just a blinding blaze. This blog's fans were right going into that one. The Kisner debut, at the ripe age of 41, for pete's sake, was actually a pretty crackling bout. The old man rips a mean left hook to the body. You say his opponent wasn't much? Well, he sure looked willing, which is a big part of what makes a good fight. And laughing Clinton Bonds actually appeared to be giving Carson problems, while he was getting torn up. The Arkansas traveler might want to train if he's going to play opponent for a living. You can't fault the promoters for the main event falling out . . No, you've gotta love the rejuvinated Scott Wagner's inspiration to take the miserable Walter Reed story right out of the news and turn it into something everyone can feel good about. You read about the lousy conditions for the vets at that hospital and you feel bad, but when you see the vets themselves and you get up and cheer for them, you're proud all over again to be American. Here's Scott at his best -- turning a bad situation into something positive. It reminded me of all the money he tried to raise for poor Bee Scottland. It's what makes Scott a special promoter, even when the fight card itself isn't top shelf. Give him time, support him, and the fights will come back. I also might suggest you seek him out and recommend what you think would be a good, realistic fight. Fans don't spend enough time telling local promoters what local fights they want to see. Tell the promoter a fight that you know will sell a lot of tickets and I bet he at least looks into it. Again, I know the fights weren't first rate Thursday, but it's not like they were embarrassing, and I didn't see a soul in that packed place who wasn't having a blast, except maybe the guys losing. -- John Scheinman

Thank you John Scheinman!
Jorge Lara stood real tough three weeks ago with Tyrell Samuel and it looked like he would be a tough opponent for Boyd, but Boyd seems to be getting stronger with each fight.
Nick would certainly have been stronger in his match with Williams if he had not had to lose twenty pounds in the last week. He made weight for the fight and was not fined and received the normal purse for a four rounder of that quality. He should be fighting at 160-68. Williams looks strong, but lets see him with an equally strong guy his weight.
And who could not like or at least appreciate the Kisner fight- he was getting hit more and more as the fight went on and then it was though the light bulb went off and he turned it on and knocked out Martin with some heavy body punches that had Martin losing his lunch after the fight. Phil Brown is getting better although Felton had his moments. Now McCourry's fight might not have been an artistic masterpiece but tell me how many fights are, even the ballyhooed Marquez vs. Vasquez fight last weekend was a total mismatch, and Allan Green vs. Miranda was a crashing bore. If the role of the club show is to develop talent, make new fans and maybe make some money, we did see some talent in the show perform well. The Kisner and McCourry fights were entertaining, brought a big group of new fans out and everyone seemed to have a good time on a Thursday night.
And of course, we lost the Samuel fight at 3:30pm yesterday after a long drawn out examination of the circumstances of his opponents eyes. That would have been a very real fight between the up and coming Samuel and tough guy Philip Payne. It would have been a huge step up for Tyrell, but unfortunately we lost it. Keep in mind that Payne had fought four or five times a year for the last three years against the best opposition in the game and not only never had a problem, but no one had ever even picked up on his problem. Credit is due to the Maryland Commission for its diligence above and beyond the call of duty. He may have fought and given us a great fight, or he may have fought and lost sight in one or both of his eyes in the middle of the bout which would have been horrific. So thank goodness, no one was put at that sort of risk last night.
So was it was not a masterpiece, but it was entertaining and the most of the crowd seemed quite happy. Kisner and McCourry will be back and they will be better, and it is guaranteed that their fights will be entertaining, crowd pleasing affairs.

To all you haters out there. Nick is my cousin and he has had a rough life. Give the guy a break.
He is not giving up. He is going back and have a few more amatures fights before fighting pro again.
We are in the process of getting ready for the Ringside tournament that is held in Kansas every year.
Plus they are having some amature fights in North Carolina in April and you can bet your ass that Nick will go down there and win. He said he will get down to 168 in all of his next amature bouts and then return to the pros. Nick will rise again-trust me.

You and your cousin are a big joke!!!!

Nick was up jugging at 4 am this morning. He will get a rematch and beat this clown, you watch and see.
He is going to have a total of 5 amtaure fights and return to the pros like a roaring lion. Nick is a nice guy but can get nasty if you want him too. I seen him beat up two guys in eighth grade and they never once messed with him again. Nick will end up winning a world title. He was consider being on the Contender but they were scared he would hurt someone.

You can too return to the amatuers as long as you never won a major title. AAU states that on article 54-bF-009 None of you seem to know boxing very well.

Ron Boyd is not only one hell of a fighter, he is also a class act.
He became friends of a 70lb local boxer, he had the kid walk out with him to the ring. Now this kid is as happy as can be and seems to be traing harder than ever.
Now it even gets better, Ron Boyd makes a special trip to the gym where the kid boxes out of. He gives the kid the exact pair of gloves that he fought in. He autographs them telling the kid that he is his hero. I know that Ron Boyd is not making big money off of his fights, but he still took what little he did make and paid for the gloves out of his purse. Ron you are a class act and you are also completely color blind when it comes to races. I wish you all the luck with boxing and whatever else you decide to do.

Williams looks strong, but lets see him with an equally strong guy his weight. ??????????????

(...an equally strong guy at his weight???)

I thought he has been closer to Super Middle than Light Heavy in his last couple of fights. So basically I guess you mean that:

A- He would have more trouble with an equally strong guy at HIS weight than with an equally strong or stronger guy who fights at a higher weight?

OR

B- The bigger guy he just knocked out wasn't as strong as most super middleweights?

OR

C- Nicky just got KO'd in front of his hometown ticket buying fans and since he is a hometown guy everyone is mad because he got popped so by asking questions about the opponent it justifies Nick being totally outclassed and it probably wouldn't have made a difference if Nicky weighed in at 195 he still woulda gotten stretched. He couldn't touch Williams at all the entire one sided evening.

Clearly Williams team feels the same way that I do. He is moving down to fight at 168. The point that I was making was that he looked strong against Nick, who clearly should be fighting at a lighter weight and should train down to that weight over a period of months rather than dropping 20 pounds in a week. But Nick is not a natural light heavy, nor is Williams. As I recall Williams walks around at 172. Therefore he should train down to 168 without much problem and maybe should even consider going down further and using weight to his advantage.

Chris I agree. But let me say one thing people are talking about fighters stepping up. It's not your fault.Big Phill fighters have a record of 5 and 10 Boyd fighters record are 10 and 5 So who need to step up. Keep doing what you are doing.

Heavyweights take longer to develop and traditionally have always been brought along more slowly than lighter weight fighters. Tyson's first five opponents were a combined 14 and 22, and Tyson had a significant amateur career, where Phil did not.
Also, Ron is 36 and assuming that he wants to do something in his career (and I am certain that he does), it has to be done quickly and therefore he must be matched fairly aggressively.
Fighters do have to step up, and when they do there can be some real excitement built around that sort of move. I can see Ron Boyd with a couple of more fights stepping up and fighting Tyrell Samuel. Although some would decry the idea of pitting two strong locals with only one loss combined, against each other, it would be an exciting matchup. It would be Baltimore vs. DC, youth against maturity, the Mark Johnson trained and advised Boyd against the Vincent Pettway protege Samuel. If they will let me, when the time is right, I would love to make that fight. It would have meaning locally as we could certainly make it for a regional belt, and it would have meaning nationally, as Tyrell is seen as a prospect who people are beginning to take note of, and Boyd is someone that no one wants to mess with because of his height and stance. I definitely hope that that fight will be made this year.

I have an honest opinion and I am stating it as the following:
Chris you are not a professional when it comes to boxing. Chris you have little regards if any when it comes to you matching fighters especially the up and coming ones, I wont mention any names here but your work speaks for itself.
I decided to never work with you ever again & you helped me with that decision three weeks ago when I called you, however if you keep up the bad track record you may have to find another job. I'm sorry it's just the way it is. The truth can hurt sometimes, in this case let's hope it's for the better.
