Beltway Boxers To Appear On August 3rd Card In Brooklyn!

Two local boxers will appear on a TGB Promotions card on Saturday, August 3rd at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Undefeated Hyattsville, MD featherweight Cobia "The Soldier" Breedy will participate in his first scheduled 10-round contest when he battles Ryan "Stone" Lee Allen of Las Vegas, NV by way of Jackson, MI.

Breedy (13-0, four KO's) is coming off a six-round technical decision victory over Fernando Fuentes on March 24th at the MGM National Harbor Casino in Oxon Hill, MD.  Fuentes suffered a bad cut after a headbutt and could not continue.  This will be the first road trip for the native of Bridgetown, Barbados.

Allen (9-3-1, four KO's) last fought on April 6th and won an eight-round unanimous decision over Edwin Tercero in Guatemala City, Guatemala.  Prior to that bout, Allen also appeared on the March 24th card in Oxon Hill and lost a six-round split decision to Ramon Cardenas.  This will also be the first 10-round bout for Allen.

Also scheduled to be on this card is District Heights, MD welterweight "The Next Big Thing" Keeshawn Williams who will be in a six-round bout against an opponent to be determined.  Williams (5-0-1, one KO) also competed on the March 24th card in Oxon Hill and won a six-round unanimous decision over Evincii Dixon.  After that bout, Williams was involved in a domestic dispute near his home which resulted in Williams shooting and killing a man in self-defense.  Williams was not charged in the incident.

Hernandez Harrison, Cheney, Davis To Have Bouts On July 19th Card At MGM National Harbor Casino!

Three Beltway Boxers will be a part of the Top Rank-promoted card on Friday, July 19th at the MGM National Harbor Casino in Oxon Hill, MD.

Undefeated DC middleweight Dusty Hernandez Harrison will be in an eight-round contest against Juan "La Amenaza" De Angel of Barranquilla, Colombia.  Harrison (32-0-1, 18 KO's) is coming off a fourth-round knockout victory over Fred Jenkins, Jr. on April 20th in Fort Washington, MD. De Angel (21-11-1, 19 KO's) will be looking to break a two-bout losing streak.  De Angel lost by eight-round unanimous decision to Habib Ahmed on May 25th in Biloxi, MS.  This will be De Angel's second trip to the MGM National Harbor Casino.  In May of 2018, De Angel lost to Immanuwel Aleem by sixth-round stoppage.  De Angel was also knocked out in the fourth round by Antoine Douglas in July of 2017.

Baltimore, MD heavyweight Cassius Chaney will compete for the first time in the Beltway when he faces Joel "Quiet Storm" Caudle of Raleigh, NC in a bout scheduled for either six or eight rounds.  Chaney (15-0, nine KO's) notched a first-round TKO over Christian Mariscal on March 30th in Philadelphia, PA.  Caudle (8-2-2, five KO's) looks to bounce back from a six-round majority decision loss to Johnnie Langston on February 23rd in Charlotte, NC.  Caudle will compete for the second time in the Beltway.  On October 18th, Caudle won an eight-round split decision over Kimdo Bethel Boykin in Washington, DC.

In a four-round bout, Lusby, MD super featherweight Nathaniel "ASAP" Davis will take on Rolando Vargas of Milwaukee, WI.  Davis (1-0, one KO) made a quality pro debut on June 1st in Waldorf, MD when he scored a second-round TKO over Alex Rivera.  Vargas (2-0, two KO's) has knocked out both of his previous opponents in the first round.

The card, which is slated to be streamed live on ESPN+, will be headlined by two 12-round IBF elimination contests that feature four undefeated boxers.  Lightweight Teofimo "El Brooklyn" Lopez of Brooklyn, NY will battle Masayoshi Nakatani of Osaka, Japan. Lopez (13-0, 11 KO's) represented Honduras in the 2016 Olympics and is currently the holder of four regional titles and ranked fourth in the world by the IBF.  Lopez is coming off a fifth-round knockout of Edis Tatli on April 20th in New York City.

Nakatani (18-0, 12 KO's) is the current OPBF Lightweight champion and is the IBF's third-ranked boxer.  Nakatani also makes his United States debut after competing exclusively in Japan.  Nakatani last fought on December 9th and scored a fourth-round TKO over Hurricane Futa in Osaka.

In an IBF Super Lightweight elimination contest, Maxim "Mad Max" Dadashev of Oxnard, CA will take on Subriel "Browny" Matias of Fajardo, Puerto Rico.  Dadashev, a native of St. Petersburg, Russia (13-0, 11 KO's) will try to build on a fourth-round knockout win over Ricky Sismudo on March 23rd in Costa Mesa, CA.  Dadashev is ranked third in the world by the IBF.  Matias (13-0, 13 KO's) is ranked eighth by the IBF and is coming off a sixth-round knockout of Wilberth Lopez on March 2nd in Fajardo.

Quigley Loses Split Decision To Byrd In Laurel, MD!

Beltway Boxers had a tough night Saturday on a GQ Promotions card at the Gardens Ice House in Laurel, MD.  Two locals on the card lost their undefeated records.

One of those hometown boxers who fell for the first time was the "GQ" in GQ Promotions, Montgomery Village, MD super middleweight Gerome Quigley, Jr. who lost a six-round split decision to veteran Andre "Thunder" Byrd of Jacksonville, FL in the main event on the card.

Quigley, who hadn't competed since suffering a no-decision to Raymond Serrano in June of 2018 at the Gardens Ice House, could never get started as he had a tough time letting his hands go all throughout the bout.  There were numerous clinches during the contest and referee Dave Braslow was busy in separating both men.

Byrd seemed to gain an advantage by landing solid punches in the bout but even he was hampered because referee Braslow took points away in the second and fourth rounds for hitting behind the head.  However, Byrd would land a solid right hand in the fourth round that had Quigley on the ropes.

In the sixth round, Quigley would lose a point for hitting behind the head and that may have been the final difference in the contest. Judge Kenny Chevalier gave the bout to Quigley, 58-54 but judges John Gradowski and Paul Wallace both saw the contest for Byrd by a 56-55 score.  Quigley is now 18-1, 16 KO's, one no contest while Byrd rises to 8-7-2, one KO.

Rockville, MD middleweight "The Cisco Kid" Francisco Bustos suffered two knockdowns en route to a third-round TKO loss to Delvecchio Savage of Tuscaloosa, AL.  In the first round, both men threw big power shots.  Bustos's left hand would land but Savage's counter right landed even harder as it would drop Bustos to the canvas.  Bustos would fight back hard in the first round and survive the second round but would get into trouble early in the third as Savage would land a crushing right-left combination that knocked Bustos down for the second time.  Bustos would get up on wobbly legs and referee Kenny Chevalier would stop the contest at 1:05 of the third round.  Bustos loses for the first time and he is now 9-1, six KO's.  Savage is now 3-2, three KO's.

The co-feature contest saw Leesburg, VA cruiserweight "Mighty" Joe Jones win a six-round unanimous decision over Twon"The Truth" Smith of Oklahoma City, OK.  Jones would put together a workmanlike performance to get the victory as he used solid left jabs and hooks to gain advantages in the bout.  Judges Braslow and Wallace would score the bout 59-55 while Chevalier saw the contest, 59-54.  Jones raises his record to 11-1, eight KO's while Smith evens his record at 3-3, two KO's.

In other bouts on the card, Hagerstown, MD super middleweight "The Sexy Albanian" Genc Pllana won a six-round unanimous decision over Dennis Williams of Monroe, LA.  Pllana would have little difficulty landing jabs during the bout.  Williams provided very little offense in return.  Pllana won by shutout on judges Brent Bovell and Paul Wallace's card, 60-54.  Judge John Gradowski saw the contest, 59-55 for Pllana, who remains undefeated at 5-0, two KO's.  Williams falls to 4-13-1, two KO's.

New Carrollton, MD super middleweight "Platinum Power" Leonor Alcantara scored a third-round TKO over Deandre West of Winston-Salem, NC.  Alcantara was in control throughout the bout and the control would culminate in landing a solid left-right combination in the third round that would stagger West.  Alcantara would continue to land punches to force referee Kenny Chevalier to stop the bout at the one-minute mark.  Alcantara is now 3-0 and has his first pro knockout.  West remains winless at 0-4.

The opening contest between cruiserweights Larry "Hitman" Pryor of Frederick, MD and Greg "Hotshot" Hackett of Philadelphia, PA was a rematch of an April contest in Fort Washington, MD.  Hackett won the first bout by four-round majority decision.  Pryor would gain a measure of revenge in this bout as he would capture a four-round unanimous decision.  Pryor was a little sharper with his punches in this contest and he would knock Hackett down to squatting position with a counter left hand in the second round.   Pryor would go on to win the bout as judges Chevalier and Gradowski scored the bout 39-36 and Wallace saw the bout 38-37.  Pryor is now 11-20, five KO's while Hackett drops to 3-19-1.

Jeff Gatling and Gerome Quigley lead GQ Promotions.  The matchmaker was Brian Dillon.  The ring announcer was Henry "Discombobulating" Jones.

Boxing Returns To Live Casino August 2nd!

Pro boxing returns to Live! Casino in Hanover, MD on Friday, August 2nd with a nine-bout Jeter Promotions card.

One contest has already been signed for this card and it will be the main event -- an eight-round cruiserweight contest between Luther "Lights Out" Smith of Catonsville, MD and Stivens "Superman" Bujai of New York City by way of Albania.

Smith (11-4, nine KO's) broke a two-bout losing streak by winning a six-round split decision over Joshua Temple on December 8th in Bowie, MD.  Bujai (16-2-1, 11 KO's) will be looking to break a two-bout losing streak and he has not fought since October of 2017 when he was stopped by Mateusz Masternak in the seventh round in Newark, NJ.  Bujai makes his second appearance in the Beltway, winning a six-round unanimous decision over Larry Pryor in January of 2016 in Springfield, VA.

The card is scheduled to mark the return of DC super middleweight "The King's Son" Jerry Odom (15-3-1, 14 KO's).  Odom, who has recently relocated to Covington, GA, returned to the ring on November 3rd when he scored a fourth-round TKO over Ruddy Sanchez in the Dominican Republic.  This was Odom's first bout since November of 2016.

Card Coming Together For June 29th in Laurel, MD!

There will be a scheduled eight-bout card coming to the Gardens Ice House in Laurel, MD on Saturday, June 29th.  The card will be promoted by GQ Promotions.

The "GQ" in GQ Promotions -- undefeated Montgomery Village, MD super welterweight Gerome Quigley, Jr. -- returns to action in the main event, a six-round contest against Andre Byrd of Jacksonville, FL.

Quigley (18-0, 16 KO's) comes back to the ring after his last outing in June of 2018 where he fought to a second-round no-contest against Raymond Serrano on the last card at the Gardens Ice House.  Quigley and Serrano butted heads causing a cut on Quigley's forehead.  Byrd (7-7-2, one KO) faces a Beltway Boxer for the second straight time.  Byrd lost an eight-round unanimous decision to Malik Hawkins on April 26th in Philadelphia, PA.

In a six-round cruiserweight battle, Joe Jones of Leesburg, VA takes on Twon Smith of Oklahoma City, OK.  Jones (10-1, eight KO's) competed for the first time in the Beltway as a pro and scored a demonstrative first-round TKO over Montez Brown on April 20th in Fort Washington, MD.  Smith (3-2, two KO's) lost a tough six-round split decision to Sam Crossed on December 1st in Washington, DC.

Undefeated Rockville, MD middleweight "The Cisco Kid" Francisco Bustos will also be in a six-round encounter against Delvecchio Savage of Tuscaloosa, AL.  Bustos, a native of Chile, is coming off a second-round TKO over Eddie Gates on April 27th in Vienna, VA.  Savage (2-2-1, two KO's) won by a fifth-round TKO over Antonio Todd on May 10th in Atlanta, GA.

In an all-Beltway super featherweight bout slated for four rounds, "The Red Comet" Dante Cox of Elkridge, MD will face off with James "Too Slick" Early of Seat Pleasant, MD.  Both men are coming off tough losses.  Cox lost his bout to Drayvontay Speed Rawls by third-round TKO on March 8th in Hanover, MD.  Early (3-3) hasn't competed since dropping a four-round unanimous decision to Ricky De Los Santos in May of 2018 in Lincoln, RI.

DC welterweight Cornell "Hitman" Hines will be in a four-rounder against Latorie "War Machine" Woodberry of Roanoke, VA.  Hines (4-0, two KO's) won a four-round split decision against George Gethers on the April 27th card in Vienna, VA. Woodberry (2-9-2) will look to break a three-bout losing streak that includes a first-round TKO loss to Nicholas Briggs on April 26th in Lincoln, RI.

Fort Washington super middleweight "Platinum Power" Leonor Alcantara Perez returns to competition after an almost two-year absence when he takes on Justin Sykes of Hanover, MD in a four-round contest.  Perez (2-0) last fought in July of 2017 and won a four-round unanimous decision over George Sheppard in DC.  Sykes (0-1) dropped his pro debut to Jonathan Burrs by four-round unanimous decision on January 26th in Waldorf, MD.

Madison Loses Unanimous Decision In Philadelphia!

Owings Mills, MD heavyweight Colby "Mad Dog" Madison lost an eight-round unanimous decision to Robert Simms of Saginaw, MI Saturday at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA.

According to ringside photographer Daniel Cork, the bout was a hard-hitting affair.  Madison landed some heavy blows in the bout, including bloodying Simms's nose in the seventh round.  However, Madison suffered swelling around the left eye two rounds earlier.  the judges gave the bout to Simms by scores of 80-72 (twice) and 79-73.

Madison suffers his first pro loss and he is now 8-1-2, five KO's.  Simms raises his record to 9-3, three KO's.

Simpson Leads Knockout Parade In Fort Washington!

Rookie Baltimore, MD middleweight Lorenzo "Truck" Simpson scored a blistering second-round TKO over Dewayne "The Beast" Williams of Philadelphia, PA in the main event contest of the Shabazz Brotherz card at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD.  Five of the six contests on the card ended in knockouts.

Simpson was very composed during the contest, probing with his solid right jab.  Simpson jabbed his way inside and, by the second round, was able to land his left hooks inside.  Two of those Simpson left hooks landed flush on Williams's face and dropped him twice to the canvas.  Referee Dave Braslow stopped the contest after the second knockdown and the bout ended at 2:29 of the second round.  Simpson remains undefeated at 5-0, four KO's while Williams's record evens at 1-1, one KO.

The co-feature was the only bout to go the distance as Baltimore heavyweight Hasim "Gold Blooded" Rahman, Jr. captured a four-round unanimous decision over a very crafty Curtis "Bad Guy" Head of Southfield, MI.   Rahman's jabs and feints were a big key to his eventual victory and he switched very successfully back and forth from the conventional to the southpaw stance.  Head tried to give Rahman different looks but Rahman was able to stick to his gameplan and go on to a relatively easy decision.  All three judges (John Gradowski, Don Risher, and Paul Wallace) scored a shutout for Rahman, Jr, 40-36.  Rahman is now 8-0, four KO's while Head is 4-4, three KO's.

Baltimore cruiserweight Kwame "Rambo" Ritter returned to boxing for the first time since July of 2016 in a demonstrative way, registering a first-round knockout over Clarence "Problem Child" Whitehead of Philadelphia.  Ritter put on a strong performance landed very good combinations throughout the first round that ended with two strong left hands that dropped Whitehead to the canvas twice.  The second knockdown stopped the contest at 1:34.  Ritter remains undefeated at 4-0, three KO's while Whitehead is still winless at 0-2.

Heavyweight Muhsin "Spartan" Cason of Las Vegas, NV by way of Baltimore, won by first-round TKO over Nathaniel "The Juggernaut" Copeland of Washington, DC when Copeland injured his left arm.  In the first minute of the contest, the two men got into a clinch and were trying to fight their way out of it.  As referee Brent Bovell started to move in and separate the men, Cason landed a punch on Copeland's arm.  Seconds later, Copeland fell awkwardly to the canvas.  Bovell did not rule a knockdown but Copeland could not continue.  The bout ended at 50 seconds of the first round.  Copeland left the ring on a stretcher and was taken to a nearby hospital for X-rays. Cason, the brother of former world heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman, Sr., is now 5-0, three KO's while Copeland is 1-1, one KO.

In an all-Beltway super middleweight contest, Columbia, MD's Ashton "The Goon" Sykes scored a sixth-round knockout over Devin "Bite" Butcher of Baltimore.  The two men were very testy towards one another the day before the bout at the weigh-in and the attitudes carried over to the ring.  In the first round, a Butcher punch landed on Sykes's left eye and opened a large gash.  However, Sykes's cut man, Reggie Brown, did outstanding work on the cut and it became a non-factor in the bout. By the second half of the contest, Sykes was able to pick up his offensive output while slowing down Butcher's output.  In the sixth round, Sykes landed two crushing right hands to put Butcher down to the canvas.  Referee Braslow stopped the bout immediately at 1:59 of the round. Sykes's record climbs to 4-3 and he scores his first pro knockout.  Butcher's record drops to 6-4, three KO's.

In the opening contest, heavyweight Norman Neely of Paterson, NJ defeated Kendrick "Big Heavy" Houston of Kannapolis, NC by first-round knockout.  Neely wasted little time in the bout landing quality body and head shots that sent Houston twice to the canvas.  Referee Braslow stopped the contest at 1:19 of the first.  Neely is now 2-0, two KO's while Houston falls to 1-5-2, one KO.

The matchmaker for the card was "The Boxing Diva" Renee Aiken.  The ring announcer was Henry "Discombobulating" Jones.

June 22nd Card At Rosecroft Comes Together!

Here is the lineup for the Shabazz Brothers card that will take place on Saturday, June 22nd at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD:

In a six-round light super middleweight contest, Baltimore, MD's Devin "Bite" Butcher will battle Ashton "The Goon' Sykes of Hanover, MD.  Butcher (6-3, three KO's) looks to bounce back from an eight-round unanimous decision loss to Travis Reeves on September 22nd in Bowie, MD.  Sykes (3-3) broke a two-bout losing streak with a six-round unanimous decision win over Roy King on April 13th in Salisbury, NC.

Undefeated Baltimore heavyweight Hasim "Goldblooded" Rahman, Jr. will take on Curtis Head of Southfield, MI in a six-round bout.  Rahman, Jr. (7-0, four KO's) won a four-round unanimous decision over Damion Reed on December 8th in Bowie.  Head (5-3, three KO's) won a four-round unanimous decision over Armonte Summers on June 7th in Detroit, MI.

After only four pro bouts, Baltimore middleweight Lorenzo "Truck" Simpson will move into a six-round bout for the first time when he battles veteran Dwayne Williams of Detroit.  Simpson (4-0, three KO's) scored a first-round TKO over Rafael Garcia on May 25th in Oxon Hill, MD.  Williams will be looking to break a three-bout losing streak including a six-round unanimous decision to Dorell Van Horn, Jr. on October 26th in Detroit.

In four-round contests, heavyweight Muhsin Cason of Baltimore, MD will battle Washington, DC's Nathaniel "The Juggernaut" Copeland.  Cason, the younger brother of former world heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman, Sr. (4-0, two KO's), has scored back-to-back TKOs in his last two contests.  That includes a first-round TKO against Jose Carlos Cuevas on January 26th in Tijuana, Mexico.   Copeland (1-0, one KO) made an impressive pro debut with a first-round knockout over Kwasi Horton on December 15th in Vienna, VA.

Columbia, MD cruiserweight Kwame "Rambo" Ritter will battle Clarence Whitehead of Philadelphia, PA.   Ritter (3-0, two KO's) has not fought since July of 2016 when he scored a first-round knockout over Nathaniel Edge in Norfolk, VA.  Whitehead (0-1) lost his pro debut to Malik Jenkins by four-round majority decision on February 23rd in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Also on the card, Paterson, NJ heavyweight Norman Neely will face off with Kendrick Houston of North Carolina.  Neely (1-0, one KO) made his pro debut on April 27th in Vienna, VA and scored a fourth-round TKO over Lamar Lewis.  Houston (1-4-2) battled Roberto Thomas White to a four-round draw on April 13th in Salisbury, NC.

Baltimore's Malik Warren was scheduled to make his pro debut on this card.  However, his bout was scratched.

Madison Weighs 236.6 For Eight-Rounder In Philadelphia!

Colby Madison weighed in at 236.6 pounds for his eight-round contest against Robert Simms on Saturday at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA.  Simms tipped in at 227.4 pounds.

Ballard Has No Decision In Atlantic City!

Temple Hills, MD middleweight D'Mitrius "Big Meech" Ballard had his bout end in a no-decision in the third round against Elias "Latin Kid" Espadas of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico in the main event bout at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ.

In the first round, the two men came together in a clash of heads.  The accidental headbutt caused blood to stream on the side of Espadas's face.  Both men were very competitive in the second round but late in the third round, ringside doctors looked at Espadas's condition and said he could not continue.  Since the bout had not reached the halfway point, the bout was declared a no-decision.

Ballard's record remains at 20-0, 13 KO's while Espadas is still 18-4, 13 KO's.

Crews-Dezurn, Reed Get Victories In Atlantic City!

WBC Female Super Featherweight champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn of Baltimore, MD scored a fifth-round TKO over a game Kayla "Lady Beast" Williams of New Iberia, LA tonight at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ.

During this non-title bout, Crews-Dezurn simply battered her opponent all around the win.  Williams showed a great chin but could not stop the offensive assault of her opponent.  Referee Harvey Dock finally stopped the fight at 1:45 seconds of the fifth round.

Crews-Dezurn raises her record to 5-1, two KO's while Williams remains winless at 0-3-1.

Also, Waldorf, MD super lightweight Mike "Yes, Indeed" Reed captured an eight-round unanimous decision over Angel "Hitman" Hernandez of McAllen, TX.  Reed won by scores of 79-73 twice and 78-74.  Reed has now won three in a row and is now 25-2, 13 KO's.  Hernandez falls to 15-14-2, nine KO's.

Beltway Boxers Hit Scales in Atlantic City!

Three local boxers weighed in for bouts at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ that will take place on Thursday.

D'Mitrius Ballard tipped the scales at 159.8 pounds for his 10-round contest against Elias Espadas, who weighed in at 159.2 pounds.  This is Ballard's first bout as a middleweight after competing throughout his career at super middleweight.

Mike Reed came in at 141.4 pounds for his eight-round bout against Angel Hernandez, who weighed 141.8 pounds.

Franchon Crews-Dezurn weighed in at 167.6 for her contest against Kayla Williams, who tipped in at 164.2.  The bout is scheduled for eight three-minute rounds.

The bouts will be shown on Golden Boy Fight Night's Facebook page.

Reed, Crews-Dezurn Have Opponents For June 20th In Atlantic City!

Waldorf, MD super lightweight Mike "Yes, Indeed" Reed and WBC Female Super Middleweight champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn of Baltimore, MD have opponents for their bouts on Thursday, June 20th at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ.

Reed (24-2, 13 KO's) will be in an eight-round contest against veteran Angel "Hitman" Hernandez of McAllen, TX (15-13-2, nine KO's).  Reed broke a two-bout losing streak by scoring a second-round TKO over Yardley Armenta Cruz on April 25th in Indio, CA.  Hernandez looks to bounce back from a 10-round unanimous decision loss to Cameron Krael on April 5th in Las Vegas, NV.

Crews-Dezurn (4-1, one KO) will be in a rare non-title bout against Kayla Williams of New Iberia, LA.  According to Boxrec, the bout is scheduled for eight three-minute rounds.  Most female pro bouts are two-minute rounds. Crews-Dezurn hasn't fought since winning the WBC Super Middleweight title by 10-round majority decision over Maricela Cornejo on September 13th in Las Vegas.  Williams (0-2-1) fought to a four-round majority draw against Schemelle Baldwin on March 30th in Hockessin, DE.

As previously reported, a third Beltway Boxer, D'Mitrius "Big Meech" Ballard (20-0, 13 KO's) of Temple Hills, MD, will be on this card in a 10-round contest against "The Latin Kid" Elias Espadas of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico (18-4, 13 KO's).  All three bouts will be shown live on Golden Boy's Fight Night Live Facebook page.

Davis Press Conference To Be Held June 19th in Baltimore; Fans Are Invited!

The official press conference to announce WBA Super Featherweight champion Gervonta "Tank" Davis's title defense against mandatory challenger Ricardo Nunez will be held on Wednesday, June 19th at Mondawmin Mall in Baltimore, MD.  Fans are invited to attend this free event.

The press conference will announce the title bout, which will take place on Saturday, July 27th at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore.  Davis will be the first boxer from Charm City to make a world title defense at home in almost 80 years.  The bout will headline a Showtime Championship Boxing telecast.

Mondawmin Mall is located at 2401 Liberty Heights Avenue in Baltimore.  The event will be held in the Centre Court area and fans should start coming in for the event at 5 PM ET.  The conference will begin at 6 PM.

                      

Franchon Crews-Dezurn Signs With Golden Boy, Returns To Ring June 20th!

WBC Female Super Middleweight champion "The Heavy Hitting Diva" Franchon Crews-Dezurn has signed a promotional contract with Golden Boy Promotions and will make her promotional debut on Saturday, June 20th at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ.

The Baltimore, MD resident (4-1, one KO) has not competed since winning the WBC title on September 13th with a 10-round majority decision over Maricela Cornejo in Las Vegas, NV.  No word yet on Crews-Dezurn's opponent.

Crews-Dezurn will be the third Beltway Boxer appearing on this card, joining fellow Golden Boy boxer D'Mitrius Ballard and Mike Reed.  The card will be streamed live on Facebook.

Amateur Action Comes To Waldorf June 15th!

There will be an amateur card coming to the Last Round Boxing Club gym on Saturday, June 15th. The card will feature boxers representing DC and Philadelphia, PA. Some of the boxers may be making final preparations for the National Junior Olympics, Prep Nationals and Youth Open in Madison, WI on June 23-30.

Tickets For Davis-Nunez Go On Sale This Friday!

Tickets for the Saturday, July 27th title defense for Baltimore, MD's Gervonta "Tank" Davis will go on sale on Friday, June 7th. The bout will be held at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, making Davis, the WBA Super Featherweight champion, the first world champion from Baltimore to defend his title in Charm City in more than 80 years.

The opponent for Davis (21-0, 20 KO's) will be Ricardo "El Cientifico" Nunez of La Chorrera, Panama (21-2, 19 KO's).  This is reported to be a mandatory challenge for Davis.

No word on how much they cost but tickets for the event, which is promoted by Mayweather Promotions and TGB Promotions, are on sale tomorrow, Friday, June 7th at 12 p.m. ET and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or at the Royal Farms Box Office Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. ET to 5 p.m. ET.  The bout will also be shown on Showtime beginning at 9 PM ET.

"It was always a goal of mine to bring a world title fight back to my city of Baltimore," said Davis, who has not fought in Baltimore since his fourth pro fight on July 20th, 2013 when Davis scored a second-round TKO over Rafael Casias at Coppin State University. Boxer Earl "Mouse" Cole Passes!

Sad news to report. Earl "Mouse" Cole, a welterweight boxer from Baltimore, MD passed away this week at the age of 31.  No cause of death was given.

Mr. Cole had an extensive amateur career, winning more than 100 bouts.  Two of his notable amateur contests came against future WBC Featherweight champion Gary Russell, Jr.  Mr. Cole only fought as a professional for one year, in 2007, making his pro debut on March 10th and scoring a fourth-round TKO over Matt Hill at the National Guard Armory in Pikesville, MD.  On April 27th, Mr. Cole would win a four-round unanimous decision over William Wilson at the DC Armory.

Mr. Cole would suffer his only loss by four-round majority decision to Joshua Snyder on May 11th at DuBurns Arena in Baltimore.  Mr. Cole would retire from boxing after the loss, moving to New Jersey with his family.  Sources tell BATB that services will be private.

Stankovic Scores TKO In Waldorf!

Arlington, VA super middleweight Filip Stankovic rebounded from suffering his only pro loss in January by scoring a third-round TKO over the "Haitian Hammer" Patrick Pierre of New Orleans, LA Saturday at the Waldorf Culture Center in Waldorf, MD.  The bout was the main event of the Cynation Sports Promotions card.

Stankovic and Pierre fought evenly in the first round but in the second, Stankovic started to pick up his pace and pressured Pierre with solid lefts and rights.  The pressure paid dividends in the third round as Stankovic landed a right hook that sent Pierre to the canvas.  Moments later, Stankovic sent another right hand to drop Pierre than put on more pressure to force referee Bill Clancy to stop the contest at 1:58.  Stankovic is now 5-1, two KO's while Pierre falls to 3-8, one KO.

The co-feature bout was an upset as Eric Manriquez of Houston, TX won a six-round majority decision over previously undefeated Oscar Moreno of Brooklyn, NY by way of Mexico City, Mexico in a super middleweight contest.

Manriquez never stopped coming forward and seemed to surprise Moreno with his offense. Moreno landed his share of punches but by the second half of the bout, Manriquez was able to put Moreno on his heels.  Manriquez's offense proved to be the difference as he would go on to victory.  Judge Vic DeWysocki scored the bout a draw, 57-57 but was overruled by judges Bill Clancy (58-56) and Don Risher (59-55). Manriquez is now 7-6-1, four KO's.  Moreno drops to 7-1, six KO's.

Washington, DC super middleweight Gregory "Glizzy" Clark recovered from a second-round knockdown to win a six-round unanimous decision over Aaron "A-Train" Casper of Augusta, GA by way of Baltimore, MD.

Casper had the early advantage in the bout by landing strong punches to Clark's body.  One of those body punches sent Clark to the canvas in the second round.  However, Clark recovered and got his offense going in the second half of the contest and was able to turn the tide of the bout.  All three judges (Brent Bovell, Bill Clancy, Don Risher) scored the bout 58-55 for Clark, who raised his record to 4-3-1, one KO.  Casper's record falls to 5-3, four KO's.

In a female super lightweight encounter, Michaele "Rogue" Nogue of Chesapeake, VA won a four-round unanimous decision over the debuting Dasha "Champ Queen" Ragland of Harrisburg, PA.  Nogue, who is a member of the United States Coast Guard, was able to put on a strong performance with a nice offensive onslaught.  Ragland fought gamely but was unable to keep up with Nogue's pressure.  Judges Clancy and Risher scored a shutout for Nogue, 40-36 while Bovell saw it 39-37.  Nogue wins her first pro contest and is 1-1.

In the opening contest, Lusby, MD super featherweight Nathaniel "ASAP" Davis registered a second-round TKO over Alexis "Textbook" Rivera of Brooklyn, NY.  Both men were making their pro debuts.

In the first round, Davis landed a picture-perfect counter right hand to Rivera's face to drop him to the canvas. Davis would follow up in the third round with a solid left hand that forced referee Clancy to stop the bout at 30 seconds of the third.

Boxing Returns To Waldorf, MD June 1st!

There will be a pro boxing card at the Waldorf Cultural Center on Saturday, June 1st.  Cynation Sports will serve as promoters.

In a six-round contest, Washington, DC super middleweight Gregory "Glizzy" Clark will take on Aaron Casper of Augusta, GA.  Clark (3-3-1, one KO) will look to break a two-bout losing streak.  In his last outing, Clark was knocked out in the first round by Edgar Berlanga on September 29th in Brooklyn, NY.  Casper, who is originally from Baltimore, MD (5-2, four KO's) has also lost two in a row and is coming off a four-round majority decision loss to Darryl Jones on May 10th in Atlanta, GA.

Arlington, VA super middleweight Filip Stankovic will battle Patrick Pierre of New Orleans, LA in a six-round encounter.  Stankovic, a native of Nis, Serbia (4-1, one KO), will look to bounce back from his first pro loss, a six-round unanimous decision defeat to Vaughn Alexander on the last card at the Waldorf Cultural Center on January 26th.  Pierre (3-7, one KO) last fought on April 26th and lost a four-round unanimous decision to Benny Sinakin on April 26th in Philadelphia, PA.

In another six-rounder, super featherweight Oscar Moreno of Mexico City, Mexico will face Eric Manriquez of Houston, TX.  Moreno (7-0, six KO) last fought on October sixth and scored a second-round TKO over Dakota Laster on October 6th in Louisville, KY.  Manriquez (6-6-1, three KO's) is winless in his last eight bouts including a six-round unanimous decision loss to Starling Cordero on March 16th in Juncos, Puerto Rico.

Two Beltway Boxers are looking for opponents on this card.  Salisbury, MD welterweight "Nasty" Nigel Fennell will be in a four-round contest.  Fennell (3-0, three KO's) competes for the first time in the Beltway after scoring a first-round TKO over Jarrett Walden on February 9th in Norfolk, VA.

Also, DC heavyweight Nathaniel "The Juggernaut" Copeland will be in another four-round encounter.  Copeland (1-0, one KO) made an impressive pro debut needing just 44 seconds to knock out Kwasi Horton on December 15th in Vienna, VA.

Lusby, MD lightweight Nathaniel Lee Davis will make his pro debut on this card against equally debuting Alex Rivera. There will also be a women's contest with super lightweight Michaele Nogue of Chesapeake, VA will be in a four-round bout against debuting Dasha Ragland.  Nogue lost her pro debut on the last card in Waldorf on January 26th by unanimous decision to Destiny Day-Owens.

Thursday, June 20th, Ocean Resort Casino, Atlantic City, NJ -- Two Beltway Boxers will appear on this card.  Undefeated Temple Hills, MD middleweight D'Mitrius "Big Meech" Ballard is scheduled for a 10-round bout against "The Latin Kid" Elias Espadas of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. Ballard (20-0, 13 KO's) is coming off a fifth-round TKO victory over Victor Fonseca on March 15th in Philadelphia, PA.   Espadas (18-4, 13 KO's) last fought on April 5th and won by second-round TKO over Gabriel Lopez in Merida.

Saturday, June 22nd, Rosecroft Raceway, Fort Washington, MD -- This will be a Shabazz Brotherz card that is scheduled to feature a number of Baltimore boxers including heavyweight Hasim "Gold Blooded" Rahman, Jr. (7-0, four KO's), super middleweight Devin "Bite" Butcher (6-3, three KO's), super bantamweight Glenn Dezurn (9-2-1, six KO's) and cruiserweight Muhsin Cason (4-0, two KO's).  Also on the card will be Columbia, MD cruiserweight Kwame "Rambo" Ritter (3-0, two KO's).

Saturday, June 22nd, 2300 Arena, Philadelphia, PA -- Owings Mills, MD heavyweight Colby "Mad Dog" Madison will be in his first eight-round encounter when he takes on Robert Simms of Saginaw, MI.  Madison (8-0-2, five KO's) is coming off a second-round TKO victory over Emilio Salas on March 29th in Philadelphia.  Simms (8-3, three KO's) recently had a three-bout winning streak snapped when he lost an eight-round majority decision to George Arias on March 2nd in Columbus, OH.

Late Result: Bostic Scores First-Round Knockout In Pro Debut!

Dundalk, MD super featherweight Dorian Bostic made his pro debut a successful one on Saturday, May 25th, winning by first-round knockout over Galen Thomas of Wilson, NC at the Extravaganza in Charlotte, NC.

No word on the official time of the knockout but Bostic seemed to dominate the contest, putting Thomas on his heels and knocking him down twice.

Thomas is now 0-4 and has yet to get out of the first round.

Haney, Hrgovic, Hunter, McCaskill, Yelussinov Win In Oxon Hill!

Here are the results from the rest of the contests on Saturday's Matchroom Boxing/Devin Haney Promotions card at the MGM National Harbor Casino in Oxon Hill, MD:

Highly-touted undefeated lightweight Devin “The Dream” Haney of Las Vegas, NV ended the main event with a crushing seventh-round knockout of Antonio “Tono” Moran of Mexico City. Mexico to regain the WBC International and WBO Intercontinental titles and win the vacant WBA International championship.  The 20-year-old Henry landed great body shots throughout the contest as he knocked down Moran twice in the bout. In round five, Haney landed a straight right hand to Moran’s body but stepped on Moran’s foot in the process taking Moran down. Referee Kenny Chevalier didn’t see the feet tangle and ruled a knockdown for Haney.

The body shots continued to serve Haney well as in the seventh round, Haney used his straight right body shots to get inside before landing a brutal overhead right to Moran’s head to send Moran crumbling to the canvas. Referee Chevalier immediately halted the bout at 2:32 of the seventh. Haney is now 22-0, 14 KO’s and Moran is 24-4, 17 KO’s.

In the co-feature, Zagreb, Croatia heavyweight Filip “El Animal” Hrgovic made short work of Gregory “Bad News” Corbin scoring a TKO at one minute of the first round to defend his WBC International title. Hrgovic landed a short but powerful right hand that dropped Corbin to the canvas. Corbin barely beat referee Brent Bovell’s count but was in no condition to continue. Hrgovic remains undefeated at 8-0, six KO’s. Corbin is now 15-2, nine KO’s.

Heavyweight Michael “The Bounty” Hunter of Las Vegas, NV had no trouble successfully defending his WBA International Heavyweight title with a second-round TKO over an overmatched Fabio Maldonado of Sao Paulo, Brazil. In the second round, Hunter landed a powerful straight right hand that had Maldonado stumbling backward. Hunter immediately increased the output and had Maldonado looking for places to fall. After two knockdowns, referee Harvey Dock stopped the bout at 1:45 of the second round. Hunter, who is trained by former undisputed world heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman, is now 17-1, 11 KO’s. Maldonado, who was stopped for the first time in his career, falls to 26-3, 25 KO’s.

In the first of the four title bouts, Jessica “CasKilla” McCaskill of Chicago, IL has unified the WBC and WBA Female Super Lightweight titles with an exciting 10-round unanimous decision over a very game Anahi “La Indiecita” Sanchez of Buenos Aires, Argentina. McCaskill, who came in as the WBC titleholder and Sanchez, who carried the WBA banner, locked horns from the opening bell traded hard shots throughout the contest. McCaskill bloodied Sanchez’s nose midway through the bout but Sanchez kept coming. McCaskill was able to increase her output in the last two rounds to gain the victory. McCaskill won by scores of 99-91, 98-92 and 96-94. McCaskill is now 7-2, three KO’s. Sanchez falls to 19-4, 11 KO’s.

Undefeated Berezino, Kazakhstan junior middleweight, and 2016 Olympian Daniyar Yelussinov captured a six-round unanimous decision win over late sub, Luis Normabuena of San Jose, CA by way of Chile. Yelussinov outworked Normabuena throughout the contest, landing heavy right hands to the head and body. Normabuena fought valiantly but could not keep up with Yelussinov’s output. Yelussinov is now 7-0, three KO’s. Normabuena falls to 3-2-1.

The matchmaking duties were performed by Eric Bottjer.  Michael Buffer and David Diamante shared the ring announcing chores.

Simpson Dispatches Garcia In First Round!

In perhaps the best performance of his young career to date, Baltimore, MD super middleweight Lorenzo "Truck" Simpson scored a blistering first-round TKO over an overmatched Rafael "El Loco" Garcia of Tucson, AZ.

Simpson went to work early and landed monstrous hooks and uppercuts on Garcia.  A series of five uppercuts by Simpson rocked Garcia on his heels and forced referee Harvey Dock to stop the contest at 1:19 of the first round.

Simpson remains undefeated at 4-0, three KO's while Garcia is now 9-3, six KO's.

Allison IV Loses Tough Slugfest In Oxon Hill, MD!

In the opening contest on the Matchroom Boxing card at MGM National Harbor Casino in Oxon Hill, MD,  Baltimore. MD lightweight Mack "Papi" Allison IV lost a tough, six-round unanimous decision to Luis Gerardo Perez of Puebla, Mexico.

This was a great contest as both men stood toe-to-toe and slugged it out for the entire six-round duration.  Neither man took a backward step.  In the end, Perez outworked Allison and won the bout by 59-55 scores across the board.

Allison's record falls to 9-3-1, seven KO's while Perez rises to 6-2, one KO.

Korobov Camp Wants Investigation Into May 11th Bout With Aleem!

There is some interesting fallout from the May 11th bout between Richmond, VA middleweight Immanuwel Aleem and Matt Korobov of St. Petersburg, FL that took place at the Eagle Bank Arena in Fairfax, VA and ended in a 10-round majority draw.

The Korobov camp recently filed a protest with the Virginia Department of Occupational Licensing and Regulations and this week, sent formal letters to Virginia Governor Ralph Northam and the state's Attorney General, Mark Herring.  The letters, sent by Korobov attorney, Leon Margules, have items they claim is evidence of what they call "corruption" by the state's commission.

Margules alleges a conflict of interest because the two judges who ruled the bout a 95-95 draw -- Mark D'Attilio and Brian Costello -- are both members of Virginia's Boxing, Martial Arts, and Professional Wrestling Advisory Board.  Costello serves as chair of the board.  Margules says that the two appointed themselves to this contest and he criticizes the appointment of Michelle Myers, who Margules claims is a "relatively inexperienced referee" despite the fact that Myers has been a pro referee since 2009.  The letters question why the Aleem-Korobov bout was the only bout of the three televised encounters on this card that had non-neutral officials.

When the scores were originally announced, Korobov was declared the winner by majority decision.  However, 20 minutes later, media received a scorecard that had D'Atillio's round 10 score for Korobov changed from a 10 to a 9, resulting in the majority draw.  Margules's letter claims that many members of the boxing media, as well as fans, agreed that Korobov won the bout.  New Jersey State Athletic Commission Chair Larry Hazzard, Sr., was in attendance and served as an unofficial judge for the contest.  Hazzard scored the bout 97-92 for Korobov.

The letter also points out a situation in the fourth round when Korobov seemed to send Aleem down with a counter right hand only to have Myers rule a foul on Korobov.  The video, however, seemed to show that Myers was correct as Korobov's punch landed on the back of Aleem's head after Aleem missed Korobov with a punch.

Simpson Gets Opponent For May 25th At MGM National Harbor; Allison Added To Card!

Two Baltimore, MD boxers will represent the Beltway on the Matchroom Boxing card on Saturday, May 25th at the MGM National Harbor Casino in Oxon Hill, MD.

Super middleweight Lorenzo "Truck" Simpson will be in a four-round contest against Rafael Garcia of Tucson, AZ.  Simpson (3-0, two KO's) makes his second straight trip to the MGM National Harbor Casino.  Last time, Simpson won a four-round unanimous decision over Jaime Meza on March 24th.  Garcia (9-2, six KO's) is looking to bounce back from a six-round unanimous decision loss to Daryl Cunningham on February 8th in Detroit, MI.

Lightweight Mack "Papi" Allison IV is a late addition to this card and will battle Luis Gerardo Perez Salas of Puebla, Mexico in a six-round bout.  Allison (9-2-1, seven KO's) is coming off a four-round unanimous decision over Darel Harris on January 26th in Waldorf, MD.  Salas (5-2, one KO) competes for the first time in the United States and is looking to break a two-bout losing streak.  Salas last fought in May of 2018 and was stopped in the fifth round by Edwin Palomares in Mexico City.

Today's weigh-in will be open to the public beginning at 3 PM at the National Harbor at the Pier Tent located next to the Capital Wheel Pier at 165 Waterfront Street in Oxon Hill.

McCalla Returns For 10-Rounder In Tucson!

Baltimore, MD super middleweight Cecil McCalla returns to action in a 10-round contest on Thursday, May 23rd at the Casino Del Sol in Tucson, AZ when he battles undefeated Madiyar Ashkeyev of Oxnard, CA by way of Merki, Kazakhstan on Thursday, May 23rd.

McCalla (21-3, eight KO's) recently broke a three-bout losing streak by scoring a third-round knockout over Jairo Jesus Siris on November 2nd in Tolu, Colombia.  The bout was McCalla's first in almost three years.

Ashkeyev (11-0, six KO's) won a 10-round unanimous decision over Luis Hernandez on January 11th in Santa Ynez, CA.  Ashkeyev will face a Beltway Boxer for the second time in his career.  Ashkeyev won a four-round unanimous decision over Lenwood Dozier in August of 2016 in Los Angeles, CA.

Haney Battles Moran At MGM National Harbor May 25th!

A very interesting card will take place on Saturday, May 25th at the MGM National Harbor Casino in Oxon Hill, MD.  For Beltway Boxing fans, there, quite frankly, isn't a whole lot of involvement as there is only scheduled to be one local boxer on the Matchroom Boxing-promoted card, in Baltimore's Lorenzo "Truck" Simpson. 

However, for fans and followers of the sport, this will be a solid card with four scheduled title bouts.  In the main event, undefeated lightweight Devin "The Dream" Haney of Las Vegas, NV will be in a 10-round bout against Antonio "Tono" Moran of Mexico City, Mexico.  The bout will be for Haney's WBC International Lightweight Title. 

Haney (21-0, 13 KO's) is regarded as one of the best up and coming boxers in the sport today, winning four regional titles and ranked in the top 10 by all four major governing bodies. In his last outing, Haney won a 10-round unanimous decision over Xolisani Ndongeni on January 11th in Shreveport, LA.  Haney won the WBO Inter-Continental and WBC International Lightweight titles on this evening.  Haney has also become a promoter and is promoting this bout.

Moran (24-3, 17 KO's) has won two Latino regional championships and is ranked 13th in the world by the WBO.  Moran is coming off a second-round TKO over Victor Alejandro Zuniga on December 7th in Mexico City.  This is Moran's second trip to the United States.  Last time, Moran lost a 10-round unanimous decision to Jose Pedraza in June of 2018 in Las Vegas.

The co-feature is a matchup of two very accomplished female boxers.  WBC Super Lightweight champion Jessica McCaskill of Chicago, IL will battle WBA Super Lightweight titleholder Anahi Esther Sanchez of Buenos Aires, Argentina in a 10-round bout with both titles on the line. 

Despite only having eight pro bouts, McCaskill (6-2, three KO's) is competing for her second world title.  In her last bout, McCaskill won the WBC title with a 10-round unanimous decision over Erica Annabella Farias on October 6th in Chicago.  Sanchez (19-3, 11 KO's) has won world titles at the featherweight, super featherweight and lightweight divisions. Sanchez last fought in April of 2018 and scored a first-round knockout over Diana Ayala in Pergamino, Argentina to win the WBA Super Lightweight title.

In a 10-rounder for the WBA International Heavyweight championship, Michael "The Bounty" Hunter of Las Vegas will defend his title when he takes on Fabio "Caipira De Aco" Maldonado of Sao Paolo, Brazil.  Hunter (16-1, 11 KO's) has scored knockouts in his last three outings.  Hunter makes his second trip to MGM National Harbor Casino. Last time, Hunter suffered his only loss when he tried to win the WBO Cruiserweight title.  Hunter lost a unanimous decision to Oleksandr Usyk in April of 2017.

Maldonado (26-2, 25 KO's) is looking to break a two-bout losing streak.  Maldonado is coming off a 10-round unanimous decision loss to Oleksandr Teslenko on March 29th in Toronto, Canada.

In another 10-round encounter, undefeated Filip Hrgovic of Zagreb, Croatia will battle Gregory "Bad News" Corbin of Dallas, TX for the vacant WBC International Heavyweight title.  Hrgovic (7-0, five KO's) makes his United States debut after winning an eight-round unanimous decision over Kevin Johnson on December 8th in Zagreb.  Corbin (15-1, nine KO's looks to bounce back from his first pro loss on March 16th in Arlington, TX.  Corbin was disqualified in the eighth round of his bout against Charles Martin for repeated low blows.

Other bouts may be added to the card, which is to be streamed on DAZN and shown on Sky Sports and Canal Space television.

Beltway Boxers Drop Bouts In Delaware!

Two Beltway Boxers had rough outings at the PAL Center in Hockessin, DE on Saturday evening. Cambridge, MD super welterweight Dontre "Pound For Pound" King lost a four-round unanimous decision to Brandon Mullins of Newark, DE.

According to ringside photographer Daniel Cork,  the bout was a strange one. In the second round, Mullins drove King into the ropes and landed a couple of shots onto King's back.  King went down but referee Eddie Claudio did not rule a knockdown.  King lost a point in round three and Mullins would go on to win the bout by scores of 40-35 across the board. 

King's record falls to 7-21-2, three KO's while Mullins remains undefeated at 5-0, two KO's.

Also, DC heavyweight Dameron Kirby lost by TKO at the end of the second round to debuting Taylor Krahl of Sunrise, FL  Cork reports that Kirby started strong but Krahl overpowered him in the second round, knocking him down three times before the bout was stopped at 3:00.  Kirby is now 0-4, with all four losses coming by TKO.

Russell Successfully Defends WBC Featherweight Title With Fifth-Round TKO In Brooklyn!

Capitol Heights, MD's "Mr." Gary Russell, Jr. made his fourth successful title defense of the WBC Featherweight championship by scoring a fifth-round TKO over former world champion Kiko Martinez Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Russell was in complete control of the contest.  Martinez would suffer a cut over the left eye due to a punch and the bout would be stopped at 2:52 of the fifth round.

Russell is now 30-1, 18 KO's while Martinez is 39-9-2, 28 KO's.

Fox Batters Brinson In DC Main Event!

Forestville, MD super middleweight Alantez "SlyAza" Fox scored a sixth-round TKO over a game but overmatched Nick "Machine Gun" Brinson of Geneva, NY in the main event of the Tricky Entertainment card at the Entertainment And Sports Arena in Washington, DC.

Fox established his left jab very early in the contest, keeping Brinson off balance and knocking him down in the first round.  Brinson tried to rough Fox up inside but Fox was able to stick to his game plan.

By the fifth round, Brinson could not continue any offense against Fox.  At 2:46 of the sixth round, Brinson's corner asked referee Kenny Chevalier to stop the bout.

Fox raises his record to 25-1-1, 12 KO's.  Brinson's record drops to 19-5-2, nine KO's.

Brown Scores Sixth-Round TKO To Win NABO Super Featherweight Title!

In the co-feature bout, DC super featherweight "The Dark Menace" Tiara Brown put on a dominant performance on route to stopping Angel "Non-Stop" Gladney of Columbia, SC in the sixth round.  The win gives Brown her first regional title, the NABO Super Featherweight title.

Brown was in complete control in the contest.  She landed shots from outside and inside.  Gladney tried to compete from the outside, then she tried to work inside on Brown.  Neither plan worked due to Brown's accurate output.  Brown didn't knock Gladney down but she battered her enough to force Kenny Chevalier to stop the contest at 34 seconds of the sixth round.

Brown remains undefeated at 8-0, six KO's.  Gladney is 10-15-1, six KO's.

White Wins Unanimous Decision in DC!

DC featherweight Jordan "Shortdog" White won a six-round unanimous decision over former world title contender  Christian Esquivel of Temoya, Mexico at the Entertainment And Sports Arena in DC.

White had the upper hand, landing solid shots.  Esquivel returned some shots in kind but could not stay with White's output of punches.  White won by scores of 60-54 (twice) and 59-55.  White is now 8-1, six KO's while Esquivel falls to 30-18-1, 23 KO's.

Harris Wins by DQ in DC!

Hyattsville,  MD junior welterweight Patrick "YG Pat" Harris won his bout by third-round disqualification over Anthony "Psycho" Woods of Nassau, Bahamas at the Entertainment And Sports Arena in DC.

Harris was in complete control of the bout battering Woods with punches from all angles.  Referee Billy Johnson took three points away from Woods for excessive holding, forcing the disqualification.

Harris remains undefeated at 16-0, eight KO's.  Woods is now 10-23, 3 KO's.

Early Results From Entertainment And Sports Arena!

In the first three bouts from the Tricky Entertainment card at the Entertainment And Sports Arena in Washington, DC,  junior lightweight Renaldo "Misunderstood" Gaines of District Heights,  MD won a four-round unanimous decision over Eduardo Melendez of Ponce, Puerto Rico.

Both men traded blows all throughout the contest.   Gaines was a little more accurate and won the contest by scores of 39-37 (twice) and 40-36.  Gaines is now 10-2, three KO's while Melendez falls to 5-26, one KO.

Silver Spring, MD heavyweight George "G3" Harris remained perfect on his young pro career as he scored a second-round knockout over Antwaun Taylor of Cincinnati, OH. 

Harris battered Taylor all over the ring, knocking him down three times before referee  Sharon Sands stopped the bout at 1:08 of the second.

Harris is now 4-0, four KO's and Taylor is 4-11, one KO.

The opening contest featured the debut of DC junior welterweight Taurean "Untouchable Tip" Venable.  Unfortunately,  the debut did not go well as Venable was stopped in the first round by Jonathan Conde of Miami, FL.

Conde landed solid straight right hands that sent Venable to the canvas twice before referee Billy Johnson halted the bout at 1:31.  Conde wins for the first time and he is 1-2, one KO.

Russell Brothers Get Wins In Brooklyn!

Two of The Russell Brothers of Capitol Heights, MD captured wins Saturday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Super lightweight Antuanne "The Last" Russell remained perfect with a fourth-round knockout over Marcos Mojica of Managua, Nicaragua.  Russell dropped Mojica once in the third round and twice in the fourth before the bout was stopped at 2:13.

Russell is now 9-0, nine KO's.  Mojica falls to 16-4-2, 12 KO's.

Bantamweight Antonio "Another" Russell won his bout by sixth-round technical decision over  Saul Eduardo Hernandez of Lakeside, CA by way of Tijuana, Mexico.  During the contest, Russell hit Hernandez with an accidental low blow.  Hernandez could not recover and the bout was stopped. Russell was ahead on all scorecards at the time of the stoppage.

Russell remains undefeated at 14-0, 11 KO's. Hernandez's record evens at 13-13-1, eight KO's.

Russell Brothers Hit Scales In Brooklyn!

The Russell Brothers weighed in for their Saturday bouts at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Gary Russell, Jr. tipped the scales at 125 3/4 for his WBC Featherweight championship title defense against Kiko Martinez who came in at 124 1/2 pounds.  This bout will be the co-feature contest on the Showtime telecast that will begin at 9 PM ET.

Antonio Russell weighed in at 117.4 pounds for his eight-round bout against Saul Eduardo Hernandez who weighed 117.6 pounds.

Antuanne Russell came in at 137 1/4 pounds for his eight-rounder versus Marcos Mojica who tipped the scales at 138 1/4.

Davis To Defend WBA Super Featherweight Title July 27th In Baltimore!

Undefeated WBA Super Featherweight champion Gervonta "Tank" Davis will return home for his next title defense on Saturday, July 27th at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, MD.

The Ring is quoting sources that say the opponent for Davis (21-0, 20 KO's) will be Ricardo "El Cientifico" Nunez of La Chorrera, Panama (21-2, 19 KO's).  This is reported to be a mandatory challenge for Davis.

In Davis's last outing, he scored a first-round TKO over Hugo Ruiz on February 9th in Carson, CA.  This will be only the second time Davis has fought in his hometown as a pro.  The first time was on July 20th, 2013 when Davis scored a second-round TKO over Rafael Casias at Coppin State University in his fourth pro bout.

Nunez makes his United States debut after competing exclusively in Panama. Nunez is coming off a first-round knockout of Eduardo Pacheco on April 30th in Panama City.

Boxing Returns To DC's Entertainment And Sports Arena On May 18th!

The "Magnificent May Along The Beltway" continues on Saturday, May 18th at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Southeast Washington, DC with a Tricky Entertainment-promoted card.

Headlining the card will be two Beltway members of the DiBella Entertainment promotional camp.  One bout features DC super featherweight "The Dark Menace" Tiara Brown who will take on Angel "Non-Stop" Gladney of Columbia, SC in a 10-round contest for the vacant IBF Intercontinental Super Featherweight title.  Brown (7-0, five KO's) comes off a fourth-round TKO over former world champion Dahiana Santana on December 8th in Bowie, MD.  Brown, who is a DC Metropolitan Police Officer, was recently named the DC Police Officer Of The Year.

Gladney (10-14-1, six KO's) recently broke a three-bout losing streak by winning a six-round split decision over Rolanda Andrews on March 30th in Columbia.  Gladney has faced a Beltway Boxer before having lost three bouts to Jennifer Salinas.

Fox will try to make it two straight wins for the family after his younger brother, Mykal, captured a big unanimous decision win over previously undefeated Fazliddin “Fayzi” Gaibnazarov on May 11th in Tucson, AZ.  Brinson (19-4-2, nine KO's) returns to action for the first time since September of 2017 when he scored a sixth-round TKO over Jaime Barboza in Verona, NY.

Another eight-round contest has undefeated Hyattsville, MD super lightweight Patrick "YG Pat" Harris face off with veteran Anthony "Psycho" Woods of Nassau, Bahamas.  In his last outing, Harris (15-0, eight KO's) won a six-round unanimous decision over Bergman Aguilar on March 24th in Oxon Hill, MD.  Woods (10-23, three KO's) comes off a four-round unanimous decision win over Nico Yeyo on October 27th in New Providence, Bahamas.

In a six-round, all-Beltway bout, Greenbelt, MD cruiserweight "The Vanilla Gorilla" Sam Crossed will take on Frederick, MD's Larry "Hitman" Pryor.  Crossed (8-0, five KO's) comes off a tough, six-round split decision over Twon Smith on the last card at the Entertainment and Sports Arena on December 1st.  Crossed was knocked down in the second round of the bout, but held on for the win.  Pryor (10-20, five KO's) will be trying to break a six-bout losing streak which includes a four-round majority decision defeat to Greg Hackett on April 20th in Fort Washington, MD.

DC super featherweight Jordan "Shortdog" White will also be in a six-round encounter against veteran Christian Esquivel of Temoaya, Mexico.  White (7-1, six KO's) also made his last appearance on that December 1st card at the Entertainment and Sports Arena and scored a first-round TKO over Ndira Spearman.  Esquivel, who once fought for the WBC Bantamweight title, (30-17-1, 23 KO's) is winless in his last seven contests including a first-round TKO loss to Carlos Caraballo on February 16th in Ponce, Puerto Rico.

In four-round bouts, Silver Spring, MD heavyweight George Harris returns to action against Antwaun Taylor of Cincinnati, OH.  Harris (3-0, three KO's) scored a crushing first-round knockout over Lamarco Ellis in his last contest on April 20th in Fort Washington, MD.  Taylor (4-10, one KO) lost by fourth-round TKO to Junior Anthony Wright on March 22nd in Hammond, IN.

Also, DC welterweight Taurean "Untouchable Tip" Venable will make his professional debut against Jonathan Conde from Miami, FL (0-2)

Another Beltway Boxer, Renaldo "Misunderstood" Gaines, is also scheduled to be on this card in a six-round bout against an opponent to be determined.  The District Heights, MD super featherweight (9-2, three KO's) returns after a year's absence when he stopped Johnny Frazier in the first round in Sterling, VA.

Fox Wins Over Undefeated Foe In Tucson!

In somewhat of a surprise, Forestville, MD super lightweight Mykal "The Professor" Fox won a 10-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated 2016 Olympic gold medalist Fazliddin “Fayzi” Gaibnazarov of Los Angeles, CA by way of Uzbekistan Saturday at the Tucson Arena in Tucson, AZ.  The bout was streamed on ESPN+.

Fox used his nine-inch height advantage over Gaibnazarov to frustrate him throughout the contest. Gaibnazarov could never get inside and he would lose points in the seventh and eighth round for holding.  Fox would go on to win by scores of 96-92 (twice) and 95-93.  Fox is now 20-1, five KO's while Gaibnazarov falls to 7-1, four KO's.

Hurd Loses Super Welterweight Titles To Williams By Unanimous Decision in Fairfax!

Philadelphia, PA’s Julian “J-Rock” Williams outworked, outpunched and outhustled his way to a unanimous decision over previously undefeated “Swift” Jarrett Hurd of Accokeek. MD to win the unified WBA/IBF/IBO Super Welterweight championship at the Eagle Bank Arena in Fairfax, VA in front of a crowd of 5,105 and a nationally-televised (FOX) audience.

Williams beat Hurd to the punch with great jabs and inside punches.  Williams repeatedly was first in his exchanges with Hurd.  In the second round. Williams dropped Hurd with a left hand to the head.  It was the first time Hurd had been dropped in his pro career.

Hurd did land some shots midway through the contest but Williams seemed to have an answer for every Hurd flurry by using angles and great movement.  There would be no late-round heroics for Hurd as Williams went on to win by scores of 116-111 and 115-112 twice.  Williams wins his first world championships and is now 27-1-1, 16 KO’s.  Hurd loses for the first time and is now 23-1, 16 KO’s.

"The pressure didn't get to me. I just feel like J-Rock truly was the better man tonight," Hurd said. "I kind of think hearing my hometown with my name being chanted, it caused me to try a little harder instead of just staying relaxed and take my time. That could have played a part, but no excuses."

"I felt like they had a game plan that worked better tonight. We also had a game plan and it was to keep the pressure on him, but he came in shape and he came out the victor.

The co-feature saw undefeated San Antonio, TX super lightweight Mario “El Azteca” Barrios score a second-round knockout over Juan Jose Velasco of Pulpaia, Argentina.  Barrios was aggressive from the start and eventually caught Velasco with a clean body shot followed by a solid right cross. Velasco went down and could not beat referee Wayne Spinola’s 10-count. Barrios is now 24-0, 16 KO’s. Velasco falls to 20-2, 12 KO’s.

The battle between Richmond, VA middleweight "The Chosen One" Immanuwel Aleem and Matt Korobov of St. Petersburg, FL ended in a 10-round majority draw.  Korobov seemed to land the harder punches in the contest, at times making Aleem take a step back. In the sixth round, Korobov wobbled Aleem with a strong right uppercut. However, Aleem fought back and turned the tide in the last three rounds as he caught the Russian native with strong punches of his own.

At first, Korobov was given the victory by majority decision because one of the judge's scorecards was read as 96-95.  However, that card was inaccurate and was actually a 95-95 score.  Two of the judges scored the bout a draw while one judge saw Korobov winning 97-93.  Aleem is now 18-1-2, 11 KO’s while Korobov is 28-2-1, 14 KO’s.

Glenarden, MD lightweight Drayvontay Speed Rawls won a six-round unanimous decision over veteran Jonathan Perez of Barranquilla, Colombia. Usually known for his hand speed, Rawls was very successful in using angles throughout this bout. Rawls repeatedly got off his punches first and outpointed his opponent. Rawls won by 59-54 twice and 58-55 to raise his record to 12-1-1, eight KO’s. Perez is now 38-24, 30 KO’s.

Stephen Fulton, Jr. of Philadelphia captured the IBO Super Bantamweight title with a dominant 12-round unanimous decision over former champion Paulus Ambunda of Swakopmund, Namibia. Fulton was just too quick and too active for Ambunda as he peppered him with quick jabs and right hooks. Fulton dropped Ambunda with a right hook in the ninth round. All three judges scored the bout 120-107. Fulton remains undefeated at 16-0, seven KO’s while Ambunda’s record drops to 27-3, 11 KO’s.

Undefeated Bethesda, MD super flyweight Alexandru “Spartan” Marin won a 10-round unanimous decision over a very tough Luis Concepcion of Panama City, Panama. The contest was an IBO elimination bout.

Marin, a native of Iasi, Romania, landed hard lefts and rights early in the contest. Concepcion kept coming forward, however, and by the middle rounds, got his offense going. Concepcion was able to open a cut along Marin’s left eye. However, Marin did enough work early to win the bout by scores of 97-93 and 96-94 twice.

Marin raises his record to 18-0, 11 KO’s while Concepcion falls to 37-8, 26 KO’s.

Baltimore super welterweight Aaron Anderson made short work of Carlos Galindo of Lima, Peru, stopping him at two minutes of the first round.

Anderson went to work early, reaching Galindo with hard head and body shots. Anderson dropped Galindo four times before referee Wayne Spinola halted the contest.

Anderson remains undefeated at 5-0, four KO’s. Galindo is 1-10.

In a stunning start to this TGB Promotions card, Baltimore super middleweight Kevin “The Scarecrow” Womack, Jr. scored a vicious second-round knockout over Mark “Sayless” Duncan of Clarksburg, MD.

The bout was pretty even until midway through the second when Womack threw a brutal right hand that froze Duncan against the ropes. Womack sent two more hard shots that dropped Duncan face down onto the canvas with a sickening thud. Referee Brent Bovell stopped the bout immediately at 1:39 of the second. Duncan had to be helped from the ring and had to be taken to a local hospital.

Womack is now 9-17-4, seven KO’s while Duncan is 3-2, three KO’s.

The walkout contest saw undefeated Bowie, MD super lightweight Greg "Sharpshooter" Outlaw knock out Martin Nicolas Matamala of Neuquen, Argentina at 18 seconds of the fourth round.  Outlaw dominated the bout early, knocking Matamala down in the third and fourth rounds before the bout was stopped.  Outlaw remains undefeated at 8-0, three KO's while Matamala falls to 11-8, three KO's.

Nicholson Forced Off Tonight's Card In Fairfax!

Laurel, MD super middleweight Demond " D'Best At It" Nicholson has been taken off tonight's TGB Promotions card at the Eagle Bank Arena in Fairfax, VA.

As first reported by ESPN.com, Nicholson had a tough time making the 168-pound weight limit for his scheduled 10-round bout with Ernest Amuzu of Ghana. After the weigh-in,  Nicholson developed severe cramps and was later admitted to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he was given multiple IVs.

This means we will have nine bouts on this card and eight Beltway Boxers participating.  The card begins at 5:05 ET.

Fox Weighs 142 For 10-Rounder In Tucson!

Mykal Fox tipped the scales at 142 pounds for his 10-round bout against Fazliddin Gaibnazarov on Saturday, May 11th at the Tucson Arena in Tucson, AZ.  Gaibnazarov came in at 141.8 pounds.

The bout will be shown on ESPN+ beginning at 6:30 PM ET.

News On Upcoming 'Magnificent May' Events!

As we get ready for, arguably, the biggest card in the Magnificent May Along The Beltway on Saturday, we have news on the two other cards that will take place this month as well as some events taking place outside the area.

There will be a new feature bout for the Tricky Entertainment card that will take place on Saturday, May 18th at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington, DC.  Forestville, MD super middleweight Alantez "SlyAza" Fox will replace Dominic Wade in the 10-round main event.  No word was given why Wade is no longer on the card.  Fox will take on Nick "The Machine Gun"  Brinson of Geneva, NY.  Fox (24-1-1, 11 KO's) comes off an eight-round unanimous decision win over Elvin Ayala on September 22nd in Bowie, MD.

The Matchroom Boxing card that will take place on Saturday, May 25th at MGM National Harbor Casino in Oxon Hill, MD will remain at that location despite the bicep injury suffered by former world cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.  The main event will now feature undefeated lightweight Devin "The Dream" Haney of Las Vegas, NV (21-0, 13 KO's) in a 10-round bout against Antonio Moran (24-3, 17 KO's) of Mexico City, Mexico.  The bout will be for Haney's WBC International lightweight title. So far, the only Beltway Boxer scheduled to be on the card will be Baltimore super middleweight Lorenzo "Truck" Simpson.

Outside the area, we know that WBC Featherweight champion "Mr." Gary Russell, Jr. of Capitol Heights, MD (29-1, 17 KO's) will defend his title against former world champion Kiko "La Sensacion" Martinez of Alicante, Spain (39-8-2, 28 KO's) on Saturday, May 18th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.  Now we find out that Russell's brothers, Antonio and Antuanne, will also appear on the card.

Antonio Russell will be in an eight-round contest against Saul Eduardo "Bebe" Hernandez of Lakeside, CA by way of Tijuana, Mexico.  Russell (13-0, 11 KO's) comes off a sixth-round TKO over Jose Maria Cardenas on March 2nd at Barclays Center.  Hernandez (13-12-1, eight KO's) has stopped his last three opponents.  However, those opponents had a combined won-loss record of 0-30.

Antuanne Russell will also compete in an eight-round encounter versus Marcos "Bombadero" Mojica of Managua, Nicaragua. Russell (8-0, eight KO's) last fought on January 26th at Barclays Center and knocked out Roberto Almanzan in the second round.  Mojica (16-3-2, 12 KO's) looks to bounce back from a third-round TKO loss to Daniyar Yeleussinov on November 24th in Monte Carlo.

If that wasn't enough, two local boxers will appear on a card at the PAL Center in Hockessin, DE.  Cambridge, MD super welterweight Dontre "Pound For Pound" King will be in a four-round bout against Brandon Mullins of Newark, DE.  King (7-20-2, three KO's) last fought on September 15th and lost a four-round unanimous decision to Michael Crain at the PAL Center.  Mullins (4-0, two KO's) scored a first-round knockout over Hassan Haggler on March 30th at the PAL Center.

Thre DC Region Boxers Remain In National Golden Gloves!

Joel Tchatchunji and Malik Titus have moved into the semifinals of the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, TN.

Tchatchunji won a 4-1 decision over Preston Draw of Pennsylvania at 178 pounds while Titus defeated Luis Alvardo of Wisconsin by a 5-0 decision at 201+ pounds.  These two, along with Kelvin Davis at 152 pounds, are the only DC Region boxers remaining in the competition.

Nerissa Turner lost her bout at female 132 pounds by a 5-0 decision to Nancy Garcia of Texas.  William Townsel dropped a 3-2 decision to Anthony Campbell at 165 pounds.  At 201 pounds, Ezri Turner lost a 5-0 decision to Juwan Talley of New Jersey.

Also, Amelia Moore, who won a National Golden Gloves championship in 2017, lost her bout at 141 pounds to Ariele Davis of the Mid-South region.  Moore, who currently lives in Virginia, represented the Colorado/New Mexico region due to her association with Team USA, that trains in Colorado Springs.

Five DC region boxers advanced to the next round of the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, TN.

Kelvin Davis moved into the next round of the 152-pound bracket, winning a 5-0 decision over Joshua Moreno of Texas.  In the 165-pound division, William Townsel captured a 5-0 decision over Yorman Guerrero of Indiana.

Joel Tchatchunij stopped Kahydiian Woods of Indiana in the first round at 178 pounds while Ezri Turner won a 3-2 decision over Darryl Jones, Jr. of the Upper Midwest region in the 201 pound division.

Malik Titus took a 5-0 decision over Gary Ramirez of Michigan at 201+ pounds.


Demetrius Lewis lost a 3-2 decision to Jose Ferrer, Jr. of the New England region at 114 pounds. Also, Nick Sullivan failed to advance at 141 pounds, losing a 4-1 decision to Marcell Davidson of Kansas City.

Davis, Titus Advance, Avelar Falls At National Golden Gloves Championships!

Kelvin Davis of the Washington, DC region advanced to the next round of the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, TN.  At 152 pounds, Davis defeated Kyron Brown of Chicago by a 3-2 score.

Also, 201+ Pounds boxer Malik Titus won a 5-0 decision over Matthew Hambric of Chicago.

At 132 pounds, Tommy Avelar lost a 5-0 decision to Jordan Jenkins of Texas. The championships continue until Sunday, May 12th.

DC Region Boxers Start Competition At National Golden Gloves!

The Washington, DC region has started competing in the 2019 National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, TN.

In the 141-pound bracket, Nicholas Sullivan, the two-time Outstanding Boxer at the Regional Golden Gloves, won his first bout by a 5-0 decision over Mitchell Lecounte of Iowa.

William Townsel won his first bout at 165 pounds by stopping Cincinnati's Nehemiah Jones in the third round.

Shakell Daly lost his first-round contest by a tough 3-2 decision to Andre Donovan of Cleveland.

Roach, Jr. Remains Undefeated With Unanimous Decision In Las Vegas!

Upper Marlboro, MD super featherweight Lamont Roach, Jr. successfully defended his WBO International Super Featherweight title and won the NABO Super Featherweight championship with a tough, 10-round unanimous decision win over veteran world title contender Jonathan Oquendo of Vega Alta, Puerto Rico Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

According to Fightnews.com reporters Miguel Maravilla and David Robinett, the bout was a rough one.  Here's their report: 

"Although in the twilight of a long, workmanlike career at age 35, Oquendo came into this fight with some momentum, reeling off four straight wins after an unsuccessful challenge for the WBA featherweight title in 2015 and an ensuing 19-month layoff. That momentum was reflected in the first round, with Oquendo immediately taking the fight to his younger opponent, coming forward and stunning Roach with a left hook that drew blood from Roach’s nose for the remainder of the round, and on and off throughout the fight. Oquendo continued coming forward in the early rounds, out landing a surprisingly immobile Roach and nearly dropping him in round four with a body that caused Roach to double over in visible discomfort. The rough fourth round seemed to light a fire under Roach, who came out in round five for the first time with some urgency, keeping his distance and rocking Oquendo with lead left and right hands before dancing out of countering range. The remainder of the fight alternated rounds where Oquendo was able to walk down Roach and outland him in close quarters, and Roach realizing he needed to stick and move more, boxing smartly for short spurts and relying on his hand speed to land meaningful, albeit sporadic combinations.

Throughout the fight Roach also complained of Oquendo leading with his head, prompting referee Russell Mora to take away a point from Oquendo in round eight that fortunately was not the determining factor in the fight. In the end, a valuable learning experience for Roach, who needs to learn to fight for sustained stretches and rely more on his strengths of speed and movement if he is going to survive against the division’s elite."

Roach won the bout by scores of 96-93 and 97-93 twice to remain undefeated at 19-0-1, seven KO's.  Oquendo falls to 30-6, 19 KO's.  Roach should now be the number one contender for the WBO Super Featherweight title held by Masayuki Ito of Japan.

Roach, Jr. Weighs 129 1/2 For Double Title Bout In Las Vegas!

Lamont Roach, Jr. weighed 129 1/2 pounds for his 10-round championship bout against Jonathan Oquendo on Saturday, May 4th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV.  Oquendo came in at 130 pounds.

A lot is riding on this bout:  Roach, Jr. is putting his WBO International Super Featherweight title on the line against Oquendo's NABO Super Featherweight championship and the winner also becomes the number one contender for the WBO World Super Featherweight crown.

M. Fox Faces Undefeated Gaibnazarov May 11th in Tucson!

Forestville, MD super lightweight Mykal "The Professor" Fox returns to action in a 10-round contest against undefeated  Fazliddin "Fayzi"  Fazliddin "Fayzi" Gaibnazarov of Los Angeles, CA by way of Uzbekistan on Saturday, May 11th at the Tucson Arena in Tucson, AZ.

Fox (19-1, five KO's) looks to bounce back from his first pro loss, a 10-round unanimous decision defeat to undefeated Shohjahon Ergashev on February 15th in Mulvane, KS. Gaibnazarov (7-0, four KO's) won a gold medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, with one of his Olympic wins coming against Antuanne Russell in the quarterfinals.  As a pro, Gaibnazarov is coming off a fourth-round stoppage of Ricardo Garcia on January 18th in Verona, NY.

The bout will be shown on ESPN+ with the preliminaries of this Top Rank card starting at 6:30 PM ET.

May 4th Waldorf Card Postponed!

The Cynation Sports Promotions card that was scheduled for Saturday, May 4th at the Waldorf Cultural Center in Waldorf, MD has been postponed.  No reason was given for the postponement.

The card has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 1st at the same location.
