Two of the Russell Brothers -- Antuanne and Antonio -- will be heading to Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY for bouts on Saturday, January 26th.
The bout for super lightweight Antuanne (7-0, seven KO's) will be scheduled for either six or eight rounds and will take place against Roberto "R15" Almazan (7-8, two KO's) of Brownsville, TX. The bout will be shown during the preliminary portion on the Fox Network and Fox Deportes at 6 PM ET. Antuanne Russell, one of the BATB Prospects Of The Year for 2018, is coming off a first-round knockout victory over Jose Antonio Esquivel on August 4th in Uniondale, NY. Almazan has won two straight bouts including a six-round unanimous decision win over Daniel Perales on April 12th in Monterrey, Mexico. Despite fighting out of Texas, Almazan has never competed in the United States.
Super bantamweight Antonio Russell (12-0, 10 KO's) will be in a non-televised eight-round bout against Lucas "Mendieta" Baez (34-17-5, 18 KO's) of Belle Glade, FL by way of Argentina. Russell last fought on August 24th and scored a first-round knockout of Nick Otieno in Minneapolis, MN. Baez looks to bounce back from a fifth-round TKO loss to Isaac Lowe on December 1st in Los Angeles in a bout for the vacant WBC International Featherweight championship.
