Quarles, Duncan Victorious In Brooklyn!

Two middleweight Beltway Boxers were successful in bouts on Saturday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Alexandria, VA's Brandon "Bulldog" Quarles won a 10-round unanimous decision over Todd Manuel of Rayne, LA.  According to reports, the uppercut seemed to be the key punch for Quarles as he landed them often to Manuel's body. Quarles worked Manuel up against the ropes and landed one of those body shots that looked to hurt Manuel. Manuel landed a left hook of his own that paused the action of Quarles for a moment, but the pressure continued. The activity of Quarles is what separated this bout and the judges at ringside scored it 97-93, 98-92 twice.

Quarles has won three straight contests and is now 21-4-1, 10 KO's,  Manuel's record evens at 17-17-1, five KO's.

Also on the card, Mark "Sayless" Duncan of Clarksburg, MD scored a first-round knockout over Ray "Sugar" Cervera of Bakersfield, CA.  Duncan controlled the action from the opening bell. Duncan landed some clean shots that were effective on Cervera. It was a left hook followed by a crushing right hand that dropped Cervera to the canvas. The referee saw that Cervera was too hurt to continue and stopped his count at seven, waving the bout off at 1:51 in round one.

Duncan is now 2-0, two KO's while Cervera remains winless at 0-4.
