Two members of the Washington, DC Region team started competition at the National Golden Gloves at the Ralston Arena near Omaha, NB.
Nick Sullivan of Portsmouth, VA won his opening contest on Monday in the 141-pound division defeating Armond Richard of Cleveland by a 4-1 score. Sullivan was the Outstanding Boxer of the Regional Golden Gloves tournament in Fort Washington, MD last weekend.
Hampton, VA's 165-pounder Christian Salinas lost his first-round contest by a 3-2 score to Michael Fontanez of the New England Region.
