Dezurn, Jr. Battles To Draw; Douglas Scores KO To Win NABA Middleweight Title In Oklahoma!

Baltimore, MD super bantamweight Glenn Dezurn, Jr. battled to an eight-round split-decision draw with Adam "Mantequilla" Lopez of San Antonio, TX Friday night at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, OK.  The bout was televised live on Showtime's Shobox.

A good portion of the contest was fought at close quarters with the two boxers exchanging hard bod shots.  Lopez seemed to get the advantage in the contest in the middle rounds but Dezurn continued to battle and made the bout extremely close at the end.  Judge Jerry Griffin saw the bout for Dezurn, 77-75 while judge Brett Miller scored the contest for Lopez by the same score.  Judge Gerald Ritter (whose twin brother Gary served as referee) saw the draw at 76-76.

Dezurn remains undefeated at 9-0-1, six KO's.  Lopez's record is now 16-1-2, eight KO's.

On the undercard, Burke, VA middleweight Antoine "Action" Douglas scored a fourth-round knockout over late sub Juan DeAngel of Barranquilla, Colombia to retain his WBC Fecarbox Middleweight championship and win the vacant NABA Middleweight title.  Douglas repeatedly blasted DeAngel to the body throughout the bout and ended the contest with a body shot at 2:46 of the fourth.  The bout was not televised but highlights were shown during the ShoBox telecast and Douglas who has competed on ShoBox five times, was interviewed by newly-inducted International Boxing Hall of Famer Steve Farhood.

Douglas, who is ranked ninth by the WBC, has won three straight by knockout since suffering his only defeat and his record is now 22-1-1, 16 KO's.  DeAngel falls to 20-7-1, 18 KO's.
