The Saturday, March 11th card featuring WBC Featherweight champion "Mr." Gary Russell, Jr. defending his title against Oscar Escandon at the MGM National Harbour Casino in Oxon Hill, MD has been postponed. Escandon suffered a back injury in training.
This is the second time a bout between Russell and Escandon has been postponed. The first time was because of an injury to Russell. Escandon went on to win the interim WBC Featherweight title with a seventh-round TKO over Robinson Castellanos on March 5 at the DC Armory in Washington, DC.
The card was slated to feature all three of the Russell Brothers -- undefeated Antonio as well as the debut of US Olympian Antuanne. Also, Jermell Charlo was scheduled to defend his 154-pound world title against Charles Hatley on the card. The card will be rescheduled for a later date.
