Washington, DC welterweight Jonathan "Bad Badger" Baxter scored his second straight first-round knockout win in North Carolina on Saturday, February 11. Baxter stopped Javonta Cherry of Wilson, NC in the first round at the Dorton Arena in Raleigh. A series of body blows did the damage as Cherry was knocked down three times before the bout was stopped at the two-minute mark.
Baxter's two wins came within a week's time. On Saturday, February 4th, Baxter knocked out Terrence Moore in Wilson, NC. This is also Baxter's third win in the Tar Heel state -- all three by first-round knockout. Baxter is now 3-1, three KO's and has won three straight since his pro debut where he lost to Vladimir Pierre by four-round split decision on November 12 in Baltimore, MD.
Cherry is 0-3 with all three losses coming by first-round knockout to Beltway Boxers. Cherry previously lost to Malik Jackson and Mack Allison, IV.
