Dominic "Lights Out" Wade offered very little resistance to Gennady "Triple G" Golovkin tonight at the Forum in Inglewood, CA as he was knocked out in two rounds in front of a partisan, sellout crowd and a national television (HBO) audience.
The Largo, MD middleweight tried to land shots against Golovkin in the first round but it was quickly apparent that Wade did not have the power to move the native of Kazakhstan backward. Late in the first round, Golovkin hit Wade with a right hand behind the ear and dropped him.
Golovkin finished the show with two knockdowns in the second round, the second coming from a picture-perfect right hand to Wade's face. Referee Jack Reiss, who gave Wade every opportunity to continue in the bout, reached the count of 10 and the bout was stopped at 2:37.
The loss was Wade's first as a pro and he is now 18-1, 12 KO's. Golovkin, who remains the WBA, IBF and the interim WBC Middleweight champion, is now 35-0, 32 KO's and has knocked out his last 22 opponents.
