Maryland State Title Bouts Highlight May 14 Card in Timonium!

Two Maryland State title bouts will be the featured attractions during the Shawstyle Promotions/Shabazz Brothers card on Saturday, May 14 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium.

In a 10-round contest for the state light heavyweight title, Baltimore's Travis "Seveer" Reeves will face off against Frederick's Larry "Hitman" Pryor.  Reeves (11-2-2, five KO's) is working on an eight-bout winning streak which includes a first-round stoppage of Anthony Caputo Smith in his last outing on December 12 in Baltimore.  Reeves scored the 2015 Beltway Boxing Knockout of the Year on July 9 when he knocked out Samer Barakat at the Tall Cedars Hall in Parkville.

Pryor (9-13, five KO's) has lost four in a row, all to undefeated competition that had a combined record of 51-0-2.  Pryor lost an eight-round unanimous decision to Travis Peterkin in his last contest on March 30 in New York City.

The Maryland Super Featherweight title contest will be a 10-round affair between Tyrell "Da Show Shocka" Samuel of Baltimore and Joshua "Dynamite" Davis of Catonsville. Samuel (16-6-1, seven KO's) returned to action after a 15-month absence and scored a fourth-round TKO over Victor Vasquez on October 2 in Philadelphia, PA.  Samuel is no stranger to state title bouts -- he is a former Maryland State Super Featherweight champion, winning the title with a 10-round unanimous decision over Ron Boyd in November of 2008 in Glen Burnie.

Davis (10-1, four KO's) has won six straight bouts since suffering his only loss in September of 2013.  Davis last fought on November 12 and won a four-round unanimous decision over Justin Lopez in Cockeysville, MD.  This will be Davis's first scheduled 10-round contest.

The undercard is also starting to come together.  DC flyweight Tyrieshia "Lady Tyga" Douglas will take on Anahi Torres of Mexico in an eight-round contest.  Douglas (10-1, four KO's) won a 10-round unanimous decision over Nydia Feliciano on November 12.  Torres (13-13-1, two KO's) will try to bounce back from suffering a six-round unanimous decision loss to Jessica Nery Plata on February 13 in Queretaro, Mexico.

In a super middleweight contest scheduled for four rounds, Baltimore's Stephon "The Surgeon" Morris will battle with Darryl Watkins of Temple Hills, MD.  Morris (1-0, one KO) scored a second-round TKO over Casanova Brooks in his pro debut on December 12 in Baltimore.  Watkins (0-4) just fought on Saturday, April 9 and lost a tough, four-round split decision to Francisco Bustos in Springfield, VA.

Super middleweight Sharif "C3" Rahman returns to action in a four-round contest against Jessie Singletary of DC. Rahman (1-0, one KO), the 19-year-old son of former heavyweight world champion Hasim Rahman, made his pro debut a successful on December 12 when he stopped Alex Asbury in the first round.  Singletary (0-1) lost his pro debut on that same card to Jerome Featherstone by four-round unanimous decision.

Seat Pleasant, MD featherweight James Early returns to action in a four-round bout against Tyshae Ferguson of Danville, VA.  Early (1-0) made his pro debut on March 5 and won a four-round unanimous decision over Arthur Parker in Norfolk, VA.  Ferguson (0-5) has been stopped in four of his five pro bouts.
