Later this weekend, we will put a schedule together that will chronicle what will be an EXTREMELY busy time in and out of the Beltway over the next six to seven weeks. However, we have to give you this news.
Washington, DC will receive yet another world title card at the DC Armory. The card will be on Saturday, April 30 and it will feature two world title bouts in the super middleweight division. The doubleheader will by televised by Showtime.
Badou Jack "The Ripper" of Las Vegas, NV will defend the WBC Super Middleweight title against former world champion Lucian Bute. Jack, a native of Stockholm, Sweden (20-1-1, 12 KO's) is making the second defense of his title that he won in April of 2015. Jack won a 12-round split decision over George Groves in his last bout on September 12 in Las Vegas.
Bute (32-3, 25 KO's) is a native of Pechea, Romania who competes out of Laval, Quebec, Canada. Bute, who once held the IBF Supermiddleweight championship, lost an opportunity to regain that title as he lost a 12-round unanimous decision to current champion James DeGale on November 28 in Quebec City, Canada.
DeGale (22-1, 14 KO's) will be in the second part of this twinbill as he will defend his title against Rogelio "Porky" Medina (36-6, 30 KO's). DeGale, a resident of St Albans, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, will be making the second defense of the title he won in May of 2015. Medina, who competes out of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, is in the midst of a four-bout winning streak which includes a third-round knockout win over previously undefeated J'Leon Love in August of 2014.
BATB has been told that there will be a significant Beltway presence on this Mayweather Promotions card -- the second Mayweather card at the DC Armory in April. The Friday, April 1 card featuring Adrian Broner defending his WBA Super Lightweight title against Ashley Theophane is being co-promoted by Mayweather Promotions along with Headbangers Promotions and About Billions Promotions.
