DC heavyweight Danny "Smooth" Kelly lost an eight-round unanimous decision to undefeated Adam Kownacki of Brooklyn, NY by way of Poland on the Deontay Wilder-Artur Szipilka card at the Barclays Center on January 16 in Brooklyn.
According to Fightnews.com reporters Matt Richardson and Arvin Nundloll, Kelly was not knocked down but his right eye was swollen almost completely shut by the end of the contest. Kownacki won the bout by scores of 80-72 (twice) and 79-73.
Kelly is now 9-2-1, eight KO's. Kownacki is 13-0, 10 KO's.
