At this point, if any of the Beltway Boxers want to earn a spot on the US Olympic Team, they will have to work their way through the challenger's bracket.
Day two of the trials in Reno, NV saw Tyrek Irby of Oxon Hill, MD lose his second-round contest at 141 Pounds to Jaron Ennis of Philadelphia, PA by a 3-0 score. Marquis Moore of Colorado Springs, CO by way of Fort Washington, MD also lost a 3-0 decision at 165 Pounds to Chordale Booker of Brooklyn, NY.
Gary Antuanne Russell of Capitol Heights, MD, who is already in the challenger's bracket, stayed alive in the tournament with a 3-0 decision over Richardson Hitchins of Brooklyn, NY at 141 Pounds.
In tonight's action, Irby will take on Jamaine Ortiz-Rodriguez of Worcester, MA while Russell battles Abraham Nova of Albany, NY. Moore will face Leshawn Rodriguez of Medford, NJ.
The Women's World Team Trials are also in Reno this week and we have a Beltway representative competing. Amelia Moore of Millersville, MD will take on Alycia Baumgardner of Freemont, OH during today's afternoon session.
