Tough start for locals tonight at the Washington Convention Center. Thomas Mattice of Cleveland, OH has knocked out Tyrone Wright at the end of the first round.
Mattice walked through Wright's shots to land many of his own. With seconds remaining in the round, Mattice landed a crisp, short right hand that dropped Wright in the middle of the ring. Wright couldn't beat referee Joe Cooper's count and the bout was stopped.
Wright is now 2-2 while Mattice is 2-0, two KO's.
Next up, "Monster" Marq Johns takes on Jaxel Marrero of Puerto Rico. Four rounds, super bantamweights.
