Congratulations to DC amateur flyweight Malik Jackson who won his first gold medal in international competition at the Leszek Drogosz Memorial Tournament in Kielce, Poland today. Jackson is out of the Limelite Gym in DC.
Jackson defeated Soghomonyan Konyun of Armenia by a 2-1 decision.
In other amateur news, we told you that Tiara Brown of DC was a member of the Elite Women's USA team that will be competing in the Women's Continental Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico beginning on Wednesday, September 24. We also know that one of the coaches of the US squad is DC's own Patrice "Boogie" Harris from the Headbangers gym.
