Well, one of the tests we talked about earlier did not come in our opening bout. Travis Reeves, fighting for the first time in his hometown of Baltimore, stopped Santos Martinez at 1:25 of the first round.
Reeves was on top of his opponent from the opening bell, landing strong shots to the body and head. A straight right hand by Reeves dropped Martinez to the canvas. Martinez beat referee Gary Camponeschi's count but was in no condition to continue.
Reeves is now 4-2-2, two KO's. Martinez falls to 2-6-1, two KO's.
Up next: De'Andre Davis of Odenton, MD (1-0, one KO) takes on Christopher Johnson of South Bend, IN. Four rounds, junior welterweights.
