Fox Wins Unanimous Decision in Rosecroft Co-Feature!

Forestville, MD junior middleweight Alantez "SlyAza" Fox has won our co-feature bout here at Rosecroft with a six-round unanimous decision over Greg Hackett of Philadelphia, PA.  The bout was target practice for Fox as he landed numerous shots over a game Hackett who did little more than absorb shots and try to clown and throw Fox off his game.  It didn't work as Fox scored a shutout on all three scorecards.  Fox is now 10-0-1, four KO's while Hackett is 2-10.

Next the main event -- Phillip Jackson-Benson vs. John Terry

Joint was packed and there was some good knockouts. Other than Terry all the out of towners came to win or atleast put on a show. It made for some entertaining fights. Someone complained about these fights not being matched evenly but how do you evenly match 3 national amateur champs and 2 blue chip prospects like Fox and Jackson? With all due respect it's not possible on a Rosecroft budget. These guys will cut there teeth on these cards then move up the ranks but this is a perfect starting ground. Odom is one of the best prospects I've seen in a long time... a stone cold killer.

Alantez Fox and Phil Jackson both did outstanding. They were both in there with guys who always go the distance. Phil stops Terry who never, ever gets stopped. I give Phil the best performance of the evening. Fox also performed well and did what he had to. Let's not for get that Hurd was in there with a gut who has never lost. I agree with previos that Odom could end up doing well in the pros, but lets not get carried away here. I mean the guy he fought last night have no amateur background whatsoever and he obviously didnt even know how to hold his gaurds up. His feet was every wich way but loose. He was just a tough old country boy from north caralina. again that not saying Odom will not rise to the top but stone cold killer is going alittle over the deep end. jousha davis had a great night considering he has not fought in well over a year. i am in the gym with this kid every day and he is constantly progressing. he is taking it slow but he will be a major force in the lightweight division one day in the near future. mike reed did what was expected but the impressive thing he did was bring a large crowd with him. he had the biggest roar of the evening. you can expect him to be on every local card held within 100 miles from 495. kevin rivers landed the perfect straight right hand and the fight was over. kevin trains hard and it shows during fight night. kevin's fans has dropped off tremoundsly and they missed a good one. the right hand should be on a high-light film. it was a good night for boxing and all the locals did well. next fight is back at rosecroft march 30th. and i suggest that you get your tickets early. fans are growing and growing.

Actually, the next Keystone show is April 20 at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, MD. Maybe someone else is running a show at Rosecroft. There is a card in DC on March 30.

Fox is a National Champion as well. Rosecroft and Keystone could up the opposition. Last fight Fox fought a 7-2 guy, but other than that records are usually lop sided. Most pros start this way. It is usually entertaining, and for $55 ringside seats it should be expected. Keep supporting and help the locals grow.

Last nights fights consisted of some winning record fighters

Most of the out-of-town boxers really came to fight. Jerry Odom's opponent came out swinging. Jerry picked him apart, no question, but you have to give the other guy credit for his effort. Same goes for Kevin Rivers' bout. His opponent was game and actually had some boxing skills, but Kevin showed exceptional speed in his punches. It was an enjoyable show.

It was a showcase card for some of the best young talent in the DMV and by extension the country. None of the fights were evenly matched and that was not the point. By the judges scorecards, there was just one judge who gave a round to one of the opponents, (Thomas Baldwin vs Hurd, and the other judges had it as a shutout). To get a quality opponent for a top prospect you have to pay significant money and no small club show promoter can pay it. Even if it is an espn card, unless you are putting huge crowds in the seats like the Headbangers show last week, you can't afford it. And no one who is developping these fighters is going to be willing to put them in tough fights. The trick is to find guys on a budget who come to fight and style-wise and heart-wise have the make up to give the top kids some trouble so that they learn. It is extremely hard to do and truthfully you are lucky when it works out right. But this was a fun show and a solid showcase for almost all of the DMV fighters.

Dmv fighters have to step it up after 10 fights

fox did good but did fox need boxing 360. im sure he could get on these cards in dc without 360's help. good fighter, good fight.

It's not where you fight, but how much you fight for. Keystone doesn't pay Fox. Based on what 360 usually pays its fighters, Fox should be ok.

well then boxing 360 is dumb. why would they pay money for that fight? fox just spent six rounds hitting a pinata who covered up and did not hit back. did fox learn anything? did he improve his game? did he evn work up a sweat?
it was a waste and the worst fight of a good night.

It cost to love and it cost to hate! How much was your ticket?

you can't get to 20-0-1 without getting to 10-0-1. you go one fight at a time. this is a low-risk "stay busy" fight and eventually the wins add up to something meaningful. the fact of the matter is fox is very difficult to match, he is a 6'5" jr. middleweight! ask dillon what response he gets when he's trying to match him, he literally gets laughed at. so either fox could take this fight and add a win to his ledger, or not fight at all and get paid zero. What would you rather do?

and boxing 360 takes the fight because its another win and another step towards getting him ranked.

The whole show was nice everyone from DMV looked good,my complaint is with the comparison on who had the loudest roar of the crowd, you need to cut it out when Jerry Odom came out honestly I never heard a crowd react like that for someone. His opponents try he just to much for them.

Keystone is having nice quality shows and all who complain must not go to many pro shows,I've been impressed with them.Gary and Marshall keep up the good work.

based on what boxing 360 pays its fighters? joey dawejko, an amateur champion we know, went to canada to fight by himself with no trainers and no boxing 360 reps. lost a winnable fight. 360 never have their own shows and what money they paying? every big fight their fighters go on the opponents side of the bracket. 360 pay what? pay their fighters no mind thats what.
