Arlington, VA lightweight "The Mongolian Mongoose" Bayan Jargal was stopped in the third round tonight by Chris "Hurricane" Howard of Crossville, TN at the Mohegan Sun at Uncasville, CT in front of a nationally televised ESPN2 audience.
Jargal seemed to be in control of the bout through the first two rounds and was picking up the pace in the third round when, suddenly, Howard landed a vicious straight right hand right on the button, dropping Jargal in a heap. Jargal did beat the referee's count but was ruled unfit to continue. The bout was stopped at 1:46 of the round.
Jargal falls to 17-4-3, 11 KO's and is stopped for the first time in his pro career. Howard's record rises to 15-2-1, seven KO's.

Gary, I thought the bout was stopped to early. Jargal took a good shot but was able to gather himself and beat the count. The referee should have let him continue.
Jargal did get up a little wobbly but I thought he had cleared his head enough during the count to get another chance. It was a great shot, however. I've never seen Jargal get hit that hard.

Here you go!
Jargal got hit a LOT harder against Howard than in that clip. Jargal stumbled back off the shot -- he seemed to be more off balance in the clip.
What you don't say, Tim, is that Jargal came back to stop Nash in the third round of the bout. That, of course, didn't happen last night.
only a average club fighter takes his left hand a pushes it all the way across his body to block a jab.who trains this guy. he made it easy for howard. how could u miss.
He made a mistake and paid for it. I wouldn't call him average.

Dummy whats your name and record, bet you dont even fight. stupid ....
very unfortunate that Jargal got stopped .The comentators, and even gary stated that Jargal was in control the first couple rounds.
Nothing could be further from the truth.Howard was landing all the clean blows and it was him dictating the action. In talking to his camp before the fight this was the exact fight plan they intended to use.In talking to them afterwords they really couldn't believe how easy it was to execute the fight plan and put the stoppers on the Mongoose.
Howards face the next day didn't show signs that it was an easy fight. Yes Jargal made a tactical mistake.
