New Documentary on 'The Man They Call Cujo!'

This must be the year for local boxing documentaries.  Michigan State University has one out on Seth Mitchell and now a Virginia-based company called Clout Motion Pictures has a documentary on Bedford, VA super middleweight Scott "Cujo" Sigmon.  Timely since Sigmon heads into his first nationally-televised contest on Friday, June 8 in Las Vegas, NV against former world champion Kelly Pavlik.

Here's the documentary on "The Man They Call Cujo."

With all due respect to Mr. Sigmon, I do not think that he has any idea of what he is about to do. Having fought a who's who of hobos, he has not fought one world class professional boxer. In a couple of weeks he will climb through the ropes with a former champion who can really punch on a world class level. Mr. Sigmon has never been hit by a fighter like that. The first punch that he receives on June 8th will be a wake up call. If it is the right punch it will probably wake him up and put him to sleep at the same time. But he will realize at that moment what he is in the ring with and how none of his previous fights ever prepared him for that night. Hopefully he will be able to withstand the onslaught from Pavlik, and put up a few decent rounds before he is knocked out. In that way after all his trash talking, he will be able to save a little face. If not, it will be an embarassment. Really the fight is akin to Virginia Tech, after a solid season of college football (maybe 8 wins and 3 losses) deciding that they are good enough to challenge the Ravens. They are then destroyed even when the Ravens switch their position players around and let Flacco play safety and Ray Lewis play running back. The only difference between VT and Sigmon is that VT has played a tougher schedule.

I look at it more like Sigmon was a decent college player who is now getting drafted into the NFL.The only difference that I see is that I believe he will win the fight comparitively becoming the NFL's version of rookie of the yeart.

"sweet dreams are made of this..."

Sigmon has no prayer. Absolutely no prayer. The question will be can he take a punch, a real punch, and remain standing. If he can do that then he will last four maybe five rounds and the fight will be stopped and he will say afterwards that he has never been hit like that and will for the first time show Pavlik some respect. And if he cannot take the power than he will roll over on the canvas holding his side like he was hit with a kidney punch (instead of a regular hook to the body) and the fight will end with him twitching on the canvas. As an aside, what I do not understand is why Sigmon and his team have constantly been trash talking about Kelly in a way that is almost sad and pathetic. It should not make any difference to anyone, especially when considering a former champion like Pavlik to keep calling him a chicken or worse. The fact of the matter is that virtually no one, even his promoter and especially not HBO and the majority of the press believed in him. From when he approached the top, he was put forward as an opponent time and time again. Please look at his record-Zuniga, Zertuche, Edison Miranda, Jermain Taylor were all fights he was supposed to lose. Even Taylor II was meant by HBO to be a comeback fight for Taylor. Instead Pavlik, kept upsetting the oddsmakers and kept winning. Unfortunately alcohol beat him for a while, but he has moved away from home and is making a legitimate comeback. Is this guy someone who deserves ridicule from Scott Sigmon? Really... Scott Sigmon?
So my recommendation to Scott Sigmon is that he ought to back off the cheap trash talk and show a modicum of respect. Kelly Pavlik certainly deserves respect for his career. He has earned it. Scott Sigmon has not earned respect from anyone. Scott is young though and hopefully he will be able to rebuild his career and make a comeback like Pavlik has done, after Pavlik beats the p... out of him.

Gotta give the kid his due for landing the fight in the first place. I would never have heard of him so congrats on that mr sigmon. But all his trash talking makes me have zero respect for him, does this kid know anything about boxing and or life?! besides disrespecting Pavlik he has disrespected the whole sport, who is he 2 run his mouth what has he accomplished in the sport? The last man who went at pavlik the way young scott has, was knocked out (when pavlik was the underdog) an hasnt even looked like an amauter anymore,an I think it would be safe 2 say miranda would be a 30-1 fav against sigmon. congrats for landing the fight but I for 1 feel sorry for you as a person an a fighter come june 8th

how do you respect somebody for taking a fight.
With the record he has (and I don't care how he got it)it's not hard to get a fight with pavlik or any other fighter at the top.The guys at the top lick their chops at a fighter like sigmon. There are many underlying factors with this fight for sigmon. He knows that he's
not going to win this fight but there are a couple of sponsors that are nieve and think that just because he gets a fight like this that he is one of the top guys in the sport. This is how the man they call CUJO makes his living.H's been
smarter than the rest of the fighters in his area.I for one wish him the best in the fight and hope he doesn't get hurt.
Don't know what he'll do after this fight, maybe marbles or ping pong or maybe even badmitton.

Saw ESPN spotlight on Pavlik the other day. Cujo doesn't know what he's getting into. Not going to be good for him.
