View From the Other Side! The British Coverage of Khan-Peterson!

The open workout at Kennedy Recreation Center gave me an opportunity to not only see and meet the fighters, but also to meet with the media brethren from England. They are here en masse for this one and the ones I met have been very nice and it is great to have them here.

Here are some examples of how the British Press is looking at this bout.

This is from the Daily Mail tabloid. The article written by Jeff Powell delves into Amir Khan's private life.

The BBC talked to Khan outside the White House earlier this week.

The BBC also talked to Lamont Peterson during the initial press conference.

Amir Khan was supposed to have a closed training session at at Old School Boxing (Buddy Harrison's gym). The father/coach of one of the fighters on the undercard, Dusty Harrison, allowed the closed session turn into an open session. He knowingly let people from Lamont Peterson's camp in the gym to observe the training session.

Fortunately, Amir Khan chose not to train due to the issues that transpired that day. Buddy/Dusty/Old School Boxing had no regard for the privacy of Amir Khan and his closed training session. Buddy Harrison's goal was to showcase his son and show loyalties to Lamont Peterson Team with no care at all for the privacy of Amir Khan.

Not only was this disrespectful but also wasted valuable time for Amir, a fighter that actually is skilled. To try to showcase Dusty, who will never be a contender, this was ridiculous. Dusty has not had any accomplishments as an amateur much less as a professional. Buddy has to stop trying to live vicariously through his son and understand that they don't have what it takes to make it in the sport. Coupled with the fact that he KNOWINGLY allowed people from the Peterson camp in is like a double spit in the face.

Amir, some of us in DC respect the sport and respect ANY fighter that is willing to put the work in to make it to your level. From all of us disgusted by the behavior displayed by Old School, Buddy, and Dusty we apologize and hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in DC.

I'm sure goldenboy isn't too happy about it either then. Aren't they both signed with him? Not a very smart move

Lets not hold Dusty accoutable for his fathers actions. Dusty had nothing to do with it.

Unbelievable! Are you kidding me??
What were they thinking at Old School?

They should have been honored that Khan's camp chose to workout at their gym. Show some damn respect. This is a world class fighter getting ready for a million dollar payday and you’re trying to let him see Dusty spar? Lol..SMH... That's ridiculous! Dusty's father needs to wake up from his damn dream. Show some respect and class.

I hope this is not true.

The original comment is why, I think, Gary allows annonymous comments. Assuming it's true, this is the kind of inside perspective that likely wouldn't get out if it weren't for the annonymous feature.

Thus far, nobody from Dusty's camp has refuted it. When somebody makes an annonymous accusation on this blog, it generally either has the ring of truth or it doesn't. In this case, sadly, it seems to.

Interesting more details please.

No Class from either the father or the son.
I promise

Why is the son taking heat for this from this forum? I can assure you he has nothing to do with it. Dusty is a good kid and doesn't have any say of what goes on and who is allowed in the gym, I know that, and this IS from an inside "anonymous" source.

Ask Henry Jones, the crybaby. I am sure it has to do with Khan being black......
