Two Title Bouts Firmed for February 11th Patriot Center Card; Wilson Also Has Opponent!

Two of the three scheduled title bouts have been signed for the Saturday, February 11th card at the George Mason University Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA.

WBC Women's Middleweight champion Tori "Sho Nuff" Nelson of Ashburn, VA will compete for her second world title -- the vacant WIBA (Women's International Boxing Association) Middleweight title -- when she faces Vashon "Lady V" Living of Houston, TX in a 10-round contest.

Nelson (5-0-1) will make her second straight appearance at the Patriot Center. On September 10, Nelson won a four-round unanimous decision over Michelle Garland. Nelson captured the WBC title on July 29 winning a 10-round unanimous decision over Lorissa Rivas in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

Living (5-2, one KO) will be appearing in her second consecutive title bout. On February 11, Living lost a 10-round unanimous decision to undefeated Christina Hammer for the WBO and WBF Middleweight titles in Brandenburg, Germany.

The second title fight features former world title contender Michael "No Joke" Stewart of New Castle, DE as he will face equally tough veteran Joe Wyatt of Newark, NJ for the vacant WBU (World Boxing Union) Welterweight title.

Stewart (47-7-3, 25 KO's) will also appear at the Patriot Center for the second straight time. Stewart scored a second-round TKO over Jimmy LeBlanc on the September 10th card. Stewart has faced a number of world champions in his career including Sharmba Mitchell , Terron Millett and Ricky Hatton. Stewart also in the second season cast of "The Contender."

Wyatt (23-2, 15 KO's) also makes a return to the Patriot Center in just his second bout after a four-year absence from boxing. On November 6, 2010, Wyatt gave Jimmy Lange all he could handle before being knocked out in the 10th and final round in a bout for the NABA Junior Middleweight title. The knockout was the Beltway Boxing Knockout of the Year for 2010.

The third title bout on the card will have Lange defending his WBU Junior Middleweight title against an opponent to be determined.

Also firmed for this card will be another appearance by undefeated Fairfax, VA junior welterweight Todd "White Lightning" Wilson who will face Fernando "El Latigo (The Whip)" Basora of the Bronx, NY in a six rounder. Wilson (11-0, three KO's) is coming off a six-round unanimous decision win over former IBF Featherweight champ Eric "Mighty Mouse" Aiken on the September 10 Patriot Center card. Basora (8-7-1, seven KO's) has lost his last four but has fought quality competition at this level including Ryan Belasco and Ramesis Gil, who fought to a draw on the Peterson-Khan undercard in DC.

My first question on the Wilson fight is...at what weight? I know Ferenando Basora and this kid doesnt' way 140 soaking wet! However I will say that he is a decent opponent and if Wilson can get past him, I will offer him a little more respsect as a fighter.

I'm still disappointed that Shah vs. Jeter was dropped. Jeter's surrogates made a reasonable case on this blog why it wasn't a good fight for him. But my question is what prompted Jeter to take the fight in the first place, only to withdraw a few weeks later?

The promoters knew Jeter may not fight on the Lange card against Shah, he was waiting on the commissioner to approve a date for his own show. What makes more sense, to fight for pennies or make real money on your own show... think about it!

Because of the knockout last week, Jeter's appearance on his own show may be in question now!

Gary, regardless if his suspension keeps him off his own card, as a promoter he will potentially make a good payday. As opposed to paying his way on to Lange's card or having to hustle tickets

I agree. I was just making that statement.

I feel like Shah deserves credit for fighting real fighters...but is he legit?

Too soon to tell on Shah. He took some time off earlier in his career and is just getting back full time.

On a related note, I'm hearing word that Shah's win over Julius Kennedy has been changed to a no-contest by the Virginia commission. Hope to confirm that today.

A good test would be Shah and cujo or Shah and snyder.

If it is a nc does that mean a rematch? I can not see kennedy wanting one.

Rivera could be a good test for him too.

Isn't it something how the fights at the Patriot center use to get all the comments on this blog and now nobody could give a shit less. That pony has been run into the ground.

to the first post on this page.
You don't know Basora then you know the man on the moon. You are somebody from the promotional team for the Patriot Center show and you are trying to give some credit to this bout with Wilson.

There is no credit that can be given to wilsons bout. He will win, that's how it's supposed to be. Let's face it....if wilson is supposed to be on the same level as other cats around dmv in his weight class it will show. You can hide ability! Plane and simple. We all know what wilson is and is not capable of doing so let him keep fighting washed up drunks and bums off the street. As for his trainer. Me oh my. This guy leo is honestly one of the biggest jokes in boxing. If you ever make it over to his gym you will see what I mean.....just check out the shadow boxing routines his guys do. I feel bad for the guys that go to his gym, leo is in it for the monthly dues the guys have to pay and the poor kids who go there to learn how to fight are being used for there money with nothing in return. Oh yeah don't get too close to leo during a conversation. Dude has the worst breathe ever....smells like he eats shit for a midnight snack!

I agree with all this comments and Leo and his bad training poor people that go to his gym he needs to leave the little boxing he did in the 60s alone that stuff ain't working anymore Leo. Edgar needs to take his talent somewhere else if he wants to do something that's he is the only fighter he has in his gym I don't know how he dose it.Everybody there just doesn't know anything better BAD GYM

Giving jimmy all he could handle before he was knocked out in the final round.
Why don't you tell it like it really is gary.Wyatt could have stopped Lange whenever he wanted, you know it and I know it.
Isn't it amazing that Lange stops people in the end of the fight after being outclassed the whole fight.Real fight people know how a few dollars put in the right pocket will get Lange a come from behind knockout on these shows.
