Russell Jr. Scores First-Round Knockout in Cincinnati!

Capitol Heights, MD featherweight "Mr." Gary Russell Jr. scored a devastating first-round knockout over Heriberto Ruiz tonight at the US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, OH. According to Fightnews.com, early in the round, Russell caught Ruiz against the ropes and stunned him with a right hook and as Ruiz attempted to work up from the body to Russell’s head, Russell fired a whistling right hook to Ruiz’ jaw, turning out the lights. The bout was stopped at 2:12 of the first.

Russell remains undefeated at 19-0, 11 KO's and is ranked number 10 by the WBA. Ruiz is now 48-12-2, 30 KO's.

He looks good, but yet to be tested, he has 4 younger brothers and all 4 would have knocked out that guy. Should be exciting when he fights a real contender. Nice show though, Adrian Broner is the real deal. Give credit to Hans Morton for Adrian's boxing skills, it was him who cared for this young man from the beginning. Ohio has been out classing other states for years and Hans Morton is a big reason for that.

LiL G is doing his thing. He might not be ready for the top dogs yet, but he will be soon. He is very young and his punching power should increase as he gets more mature. Let's not forget that plenty of fighters won titles with skills instead of punching power.

Russel beats Broner all day matter of fact that will be his first title win against Broner. What did broner do as an amateur, nothing. So that mean Broner is still learning getting lucky with fights. Styles makes fights

This is about Lil Gary not Broner. Both are good young fighters. Lil G is representing our area so show some love for the young man.
