It seems that boxers from Wilson, North Carolina don't do very well in the ring, have you noticed? Maybe it is just a coincidence. Not!!

Wilson, North Carolina must have a big Thanksgiving Day parade because they are certainly home to a lot of turkeys.

There are 21 active fighters from Wilson, NC and outlying areas and upwards to 50 or more that have at least 1 pro fight in the past 3 years.

There is a fellow named Jamar Freeman from Wilson who is 9-0-2 with wins over Larry Brothers (KO3), Omar Sims 2 decision wins and 1 draw (he fought him 3 times), and Dontre King.

Other notable Wilson, NC fighters who beat Beltway area boxers:

Rodney Green - who has a win over George Rivera.

Maurice Winslow - knocked out Boone Pultz.

Octavius Davis - beat Robert McConnell

Cornelius Ellis (10 wins, 15 losses) was a dangerous southpaw heavyweight from Wilson who lost a hotly disputed split decision to Horace Ray Grant and lost a close decision to Jed Phipps. He also went the distance with Oliver McCall, had a draw with Dale Crowe, and lost a majority decision to Eddie Chambers. This guy wasn't bad at all. No promoter, fighting killers and sometimes winning.

There was also Mike Eatmon who finished with a record of 9 and 6 and was never stopped. He had a draw with Victor Paz, went the distance with Andre Dirrell and Chuckie Cavallo, and knocked out Tony Pope.

So not all the guys from Wilson are terrible it's just the ones who have no experience, get in the ring with tennis shoes, and it's obvious they've never been in a ring or a gym for longer than two hours in their life.
