Kelly, Crews Represent US at Pan Am Games; Three Beltway Females Heading to Olympic Trials!

The Beltway has two amateurs who will be competing early next week at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

DC Super Heavyweight Danny Kelly will face Isaias Mena of Colombia in his first round contest on Monday, October 24.

Baltimore middleweight and multi-time national champion Franchon Crews will take on Canada's Mary Spencer in her first bout in the quarterfinals on Sunday, October 23.

Crews is one of three Beltway ladies that will be participating in the first-ever Women's Olympic Trials in February. Crews will be joined by flyweight Tyrieshia Douglas of Baltimore and DC lightweight Asia Stevenson. No word yet on when or where the trials will be held.

The three winners from each division then head to Qinhuangdao, China for the only international Olympic qualifier -- The Women's World Championships -- from May 21 to June 3. Twelve boxers in each of the three Olympic weight classes will compete in the Olympic Games with the top eight finishers at the Women’s World Championships and four boxers per weight class selected by a tripartite commission earning berths in London.
