Updates on Russell, Mitchell and Thompson!

Three of our Beltway Boxers have scheduled high-profile bouts in the coming weeks.

Undefeated Capitol Heights, MD featherweight "Mr." Gary Russell, Jr. will be back in action this Saturday, September 3 when he takes on Leonilo "Veneno" Miranda of Mexico in an eight-round contest at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, MS. The bout is slated to appear on HBO.

Russell (17-0, 10 KO's) is coming off an eight-round unanimous decision win over Eric Estrada on July 23 in Las Vegas. Miranda (32-3, 30 KO's) lost a 10-round unanimous decision to Luis Franco on February 4 in Santa Ynez, CA.

It won't be HBO, but it looks like the next bout for undefeated Brandywine, MD heavyweight Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell will be carried by two TV networks.

ESPN.com Boxing Writer Dan Rafael is reporting that Mitchell (22-0-1, 16 KO's) has had his August 27 bout rescheduled for Friday, September 16 at Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas. The opponent will not be Mike Mollo in this one because the bout is cheaper since it will not be on HBO. Promoters are still looking for a new opponent.

The bout will be carried by both Fox Sports Net as well as Telefutura -- two unrelated TV networks.

Meanwhile, the IBF heavyweight title eliminator between Tony "The Tiger" Thompson and Eddie Chambers has been set for Friday, October 28 at Bally's Casino in Atlantic City, NJ and it has been added to a ShoBox telecast on the Showtime Network. The bout will open a tripleheader broadcast.

Li G best slow his roll because Gamboa is one the top fighters in the game today. He had 250 amateur bouts and won Olympic Gold in the 2004 Olympics. He defected from the Cuban national team in 2006, via Venezuela, Colombia, and Germany, and now makes his home in Miami.

Gamboa is 3rd. in Sports pound-for-pound rankings and has blazingly fast hands. He fights veteran Daniel Ponce de Leon on Sept. 10 in Atlantic City. Lil G better becareful what he ask for.
