Franchon Crews Profiled in Ring Magazine; Boxes on Amateur Card in Glen Burnie Sept. 15!

Multi-time national amateur champion and Baltimore resident Franchon Crews is the subject of a very revealing article in the amateur section of the current issue of Ring Magazine. Crews talks openly about her background and how she got into the sport.

By the way, Crews tells BATB that she will be boxing on the Baltimore Boxing amateur show which will be held on Thursday, September 15 at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD.

Also featured in a sidebar article is a story on the UMAR Gym in Baltimore, headed by Marvin McDowell. Recently, a number of boxers and dignitaries from Latin American countries have visited the gym to learn more about UMAR's "No Hooks Before Books" program. This included a recent visit by a group from Mexico. Crews, who trains at UMAR, spoke to the visitors in fluent Spanish and autographed a number of items for them.
