Aiken-Cherry Ends in No Contest!

BATB hears word that the bout between former IBF Featherweight champion Eric "Mighty Mouse" Aiken and Edner "Cherry Bomb" Cherry has ended in a no-contest after the first round. The bout took place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL.

According to an eyewitness at the bout, Cherry landed a shot after the bell and that caused the no contest.

No one in the arena felt the stomach-churn of these twists and turns more than lightweight Edner “Cherry Bomb” Cherry (28-6-2-1) as he faced Eric Aiken (16-8-1-1) in the evening’s 10-round main event. Finishing out a dominant first-round, Cherry fired a left hook at about the third ding of the bell. The punch landed squarely on Aiken’s jaw, causing him to land squarely on his back as referee Frank Gentile rightfully ruled the punch a penalty. In what appeared to be a disqualification at first glance, the verdict came back as a no-decision
