Peterson Gains IBF Mandatory With 12th Round KO!

DC junior welterweight Lamont Peterson scored a 12th round knockout over Victor Cayo tonight at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas tonight, earning a mandatory title shot against champion Amir Khan.

It took almost the entire bout but Peterson eventually wore down the game Cayo with late-bout pressure resulting in the knockdown in the latter stages of the 12th round. Cayo could not beat referee Kenny Bayless's count and the bout was stopped at 2:46 of the round.

Peterson raises his record to 29-1-1, 15 KO's. Cayo suffers just the second loss of his career and he is now 26-2, 18 KO's.

I'm glad Lamont stopped Cayo in this punishing fashion because his style was annoying the hell out of me, but more importantly it's great to know that Lamont is going to challenge for the IBF title more seasoned and ready to take it.

Congratulations to Lamont, he fought a very entertaining bout. I'm glad to see him step on the gas and finish the fight strong. That's how u become a champion
