Samuel Loses 10-Round Decision in Norfolk!

Baltimore's Tyrell "Da Show Shock'A Samuel lost a 10-round unanimous decision to Dorin Spivey last night at the Scope in Norfolk, VA. As most of you have surmised, Spivey was stripped of his NABA Lightweight title hours prior to the bout.

According to sources in and around the bout, the bout almost did not happen. Apparently, Spivey had numerous opportunities to get to the 135 pound lightweight limit. Instead, when Spivey walked into the ring, he was closer to the 147 pound welterweight light.

Reports said Samuel gave a good account of himself and the judges scores (100-90 [twice] and 98-92) did not reflect that.

Samuel's record falls to 14-4, six KO's. Spivey is now 37-6, 29 KO's.

Let me be the first to congradulate Dorin and to add that although Spivey may have weighed close to 147 at fight time that Samuel probobly weighed that himself.Thats the way the cookie crumbles. The bottom line is.
Mr Spivey got some ass.
Congradulation's

Y WOULD U THINK tYRELL WAS CLOSE 2 147 AT FIGHT TIME.HE'S USUALLY FIGHTS AT 126.I DOUGHT HE WAS THAT BIG.HE SHOULDN'T HAVE FOUGHT AND JUST GOT PAID.

Tell you the truth, I wouldn't have had my boxer fight in that situation.

Apparently, Samuel was paid triple the amount he was scheduled to receive.

However, that is still a dangerous gamble.

By the way, Samuel came in closer to the junior lightweight limit than the lightweight limit. Samuel weighed in at 130 1/2.

I think that would have been the smart think to do, get paid and leave, Samuels already fighting out of his weight-class. Then to take on weight is crazy. $ isn't always the answer.

Didn't meen to get you guys going
but you really are easy.tyrell Samuel is one of my favorite fighters and indeed was fighting out of his weight class against a very underestimated Dorn Spivey.
Had the weights been close to the same who knows. But really if it is some of Tyrells handlers making these defensive comments
shame on you.
If you are going to take the money
and fight out of your weight class
then you don't have the right to get on this blog and make excusses. You can't have it both ways. You took the money ,now hush or it's off to bed without supper.

whats spivey gonna do without that
little regional trinket that he brings with him everywhere he goes?
too funny, everytime i see this guy hes carrying that phoney little belt, im suprised he hasnt had special pants made so he can wear it around his waist everyday.
in fine virginia fashion he fights a much smaller man, then he doesnt even make weight. what a joke virginia boxing is!

i just can't believe that
kenny, would go into the ring
on the down side of things.
normally that not kenny,
unless tyrell, is no longer
with upton boxing.
because the upton team,
is pretty smart.

Tyrell is a tough kid, serious fighter doing the most he has with his ability. Unlike many in this area he takes tough fights. Tyrell, I want to congratulate you and let you know as a fan, I appreciate your efforts. Good luck, you are well respected.

Say what you want about Spivey but the one thing you can't change is that he beat that ass
over the weekend. If you don't want that ass beat then don't mess with dangerous Dorin Spivey.

It is sad to hear so much smack talk. First Spivey didn't magically gain 10 pounds in less than 24 hours. He fought at 136. if anyone here had actually seen the fight they would have seen that it was a good fight and it would have been even better if Samuel had more stamina. Spivey squarely won all ten rounds. Personally I would love to see a rematch.
