Armenta Loses in First Round in Oklahoma!

A beautiful left hook to the body by undefeated Edwin Rodriguez knocked out Silver Spring, MD's George "El Gallo" Armenta after just 47 seconds at the Choctaw Gaming Resort in Durant, OK in front of a nationally-televised ESPN2 audience.

This was the first time Armenta has been knocked out in his career and his record now stands at 13-6, 11 KO's. Rodriguez is now 14-0, 10 KO's.

Hey listen, that happens. Anybody who don't know what it's like to get caught with a perfect shot to the body don't understand. The shot don't look like much but it hurts worse than anything. Tough luck Armenta.

with all due respect Gary, this is a very unprofessionally run site.It is a hot bed for cowardly idiots to play games and talk rubbish without posting their name.Grade school games, like crank calls and such.Win or lose, fighters deserve respect and you are allowing for less than that.anonymous posts should not be an option.George....you just got caught.Good luck and get back on the horse.--Derrick Jones-- djones989@gmail.com

George keep your head up high, your a good boxer. It was a Lucky shot from Rodriguez. I have respect for this opponent unlike your last one who stole a win. This was not your 1st time on TV and it won't be your last.

Thank you for your comment, Derrick. About two years ago, I tried to ban all anonymous comments. Traffic on the site dropped dramatically.

Many people who comment anonymously are people that work in the business and I understand that. I also put a poll up whether or not people wanted the anon comments. They did.

My hands are tied and I do not have time to erase every juvenile comment on here.
Honestly,I' m fortunate to have comments on here at all. Most blogs like this don't.

Gary runs this site with integrity, knowledge and enthusiasm. I understand the disdain for anonymous haters. However, I think Gary makes the right choice in allowing anonymous bloggers for the reasons he explained. Plus, free speech (even free speech made by clueless haters) is a vital part of the foundation this country. Gary deserves our praise and appreciation for the tremendous work he puts into this site.
