Lange Subject of Unique Interview!

Thanks to Brian Bishop of Brotman-Winter-Fried Public Relations for directing me to a very interesting interview involving WBC USNBC Junior Middleweight champion Jimmy Lange of Great Falls, VA.

Lange was the guest on a local cable TV series called "The District Dish" co-hosted by Kate Michael, Ebong Eka and Sonya Gavanker. The interview was conducted at Kellari Taverna on 17th and K in Northwest DC. Do not expect hardcore boxing talk here, but this does show how Lange has done a good job of expanding his name recognition.

Here is the episode:

Jimmy's last 4 opponents may have good looking records. But take a look at their last 10 fights, its like 6 wins n 34 losts. wow. good match making job. and great getting them approved by commissioner.

That's funny... look at Scott Sigmons opponents record. Now that's a JOKE.

Now that was an interview with a different vibe. You gotta love the product placement with the entire foreground being taken up with the host restaurant's food....while everybody's plates were empty. You got the impression that as soon as shooting wrapped, the food was whisked away and served to paying customers.

Kudos to Jimmy for his grace toward the one interviewer who clearly hadn't done his homework, "So, have you fought here in this area before?," and to the other two boxing neophites.

My favorite questions were, "Do you have a signature move like Ali, a shuffle or a thing?" And, "Do boxers really wear boxers, or do they wear briefs?"

Despite what a previous poster commented, I thought Jimmy handled himself well. His communication skills are light years ahead of most fighters, which doesn't say a whole lot, but explains part of his popularity and commercial success.

Finally, I had never heard about his tradition of wearing a new robe every fight with a different inspirational message chosen by his father, that Jimmy sees for the first time on fight night.
