Update on Friday Night in Westminister!

As we just mentioned, undefeated Eldersburg, MD light heavyweight Mark "TNT" Tucker headlines the TNT Promotions/Maryland Boxing Club card on Friday, June 5 at the Shipley Arena in Westminster, MD.

Tucker (9-0, seven KO's) will face veteran Andre "Da Heat" Hemphill of Philadelphia, PA by way of Woodbridge, VA (7-10-2, four KO's) in an eight-round contest. Tucker is coming off an eight-round split decision win over Ross Thompson on the last Westminster show on April 24. Hemphill lost a six-round unanimous decision to Will Rosinsky on May 8 in Franklin Square, NY.

NOTE: BATB sends its best wishes to Ross Thompson, who was recently attacked and reportedly shot by a large group of men last week in Buffalo, NY. Thompson was slated to have surgery earlier this week.

The two co-feature bouts will be six-round junior middleweight rematches of bouts that took place on earlier TNT Promotions cards. Baltimore's Omar Sims will take on Wilson, NC's Jamar Freeman. The two fought to an exciting four-round draw on April 24. Neither Sims (1-0-2, one KO) nor Freeman (2-0-1) have fought since that bout.

The other rematch will be between undefeated Lenwood "Mr. Composure" Dozier of Glen Burnie and Charlotte, NC's Ken Dunham. Dozier won the first bout by four-round majority decision on the February 20 Westminster card. Dozier (5-0-1, two KO's) has not fought since the February 20 show while Dunham was stopped in the second round by James Stevenson on March 19 in Woodlawn, MD.

Edgewood, MD junior welterweight Emmanuel "Transformer" Taylor is slated to take on Schenectady, NY's Bryan Abraham in a four-round contest. Taylor (1-0, one KO) has not fought since making his pro debut on March 19 in Woodlawn and scoring a first-round knockout over Damien Butler. Abraham (1-1-1, one KO) is coming off a four-round unanimous decision loss to 2008 US Olympian Sadam Ali on April 25 at the Foxwoods in Mashantucket, CT.

There will be an all-New York six-round welterweight contest as undefeated prospect Vincent Arroyo of Amherst (8-0, five KO's) will battle veteran Amaury Torres of Washington Heights (4-8-2, one KO). Arroyo last fought on May 15 in Yonkers, NY where he stopped Roberto Acevedo in the sixth round. Torres is coming off a four-round unanimous decision over Jesse Francisco on March 13 in Kissimmee, FL.

DC rookie super middleweight Robert "Rated X" Reed is slated to return to action on this show against an opponent to be determined. Reed (1-0, one KO) made an explosive pro debut on the April 24 Westminster card, stopping Zaid Malik in the first round. Also slated to be on this card will be undefeated York, PA welterweight prospect Stevie Weimer (3-0, two KO's).

By the way, the promotion is offering a Mother's Day/Father's Day special -- Youths 16-and-under accompanied by their parent get in for half price.
