Opening Round Action from USA Boxing National Championships!

Beltway Boxers got off to a good start on the first session of action at the 2009 USA Boxing National Championships at the Denver Coliseum in Denver, CO.

In the Senior Male division, Thomas Williams of Fort Washington, MD won his opening bout in the 178-pound class with a 19-13 decision over Manny Thompson of Wichita, KS. However, Marcus Gaddis of Landover, MD lost in the first round of the 119-pound bracket via a 19-8 decision to Rob Colasante of Munhall, PA.

In the Junior Male division, Patrick Harris of Hyattsville, MD advanced in the 101-pound class with a third-round RSC over Cody Stone of Indianapolis, IN. In the 132-pound division, Oxon Hill, MD's Parris Chisholm III decisioned Michael Montgomery of Macon, GA, 11-7. Also, Antoine Douglas of DC advanced in the 145-pound class with a 4-2 decision over Bridgeport, CT's Joseph Goss.

Only one Beltway Boxer participated in the evening session. Michael Reed of Waldorf, MD won his bout in the 138-pound junior division, defeating Brian Alvarez of Woodland, CA by the score of 7-6.
