Lockett Stops Marks; Peterson Weighs in; Kennedy Battles Pryor in Ohio!

Takoma Park light heavyweight Willis "The Prophet" Lockett scored the biggest victory of his career, stopping former world title contender Larry "The Laser" Marks in the fourth round last night at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino in Dover, DE.

According to reports, Lockett dropped Marks in the first round and went on to victory when Marks could not come off his stool to begin the fifth round. With the victory, Lockett raises his record to 11-7-5, five KO's while Marks falls to 29-11-1, 16 KO's.

In Bayamon, Puerto Rico, DC's Lamont Peterson weighed in at the junior welterweight limit of 140 pounds for tonight's interim WBO Junior Welterweight title bout against Willy Blain, who weighed in at 138. The bout will be the opening contest on HBO's Boxing After Dark tonight at 10 PM ET.

And in Cincinnati, OH, Windsor Mill, MD middleweight Julius Kennedy takes on Aaron Pryor, Jr. in a scheduled six-round contest. Kennedy (4-1, two KO's) is coming off a fourth-round TKO victory over James Denson on April 2 in Glen Burnie, MD. Pryor (12-1, nine KO's) will try to avoid his second straight loss to a Beltway Boxer. Pryor lost an eight-round split decision to Joshua Snyder on December 27 in his hometown of Cincinnati.

Today, Kennedy weighed in at the middleweight limit of 160 while Pryor came in at 161.

By the way, this card is being promoted by DC's own "Fight Lady" Wanda Bruce and is a benefit card to raise money and awareness to fight diabetes.

Last few fights had been very discouraging to Willis. Couple of the his wins turned over to no decisions, few of fights where Willis clearly won but got the draws or the loses. But this win over Larry Mark was great for Locket's confidence. This was far the best performance of his career. But i think the best is yet to come. Congratulation Willis !! Han Kim

I saw the Lockett fight and he was amazing. People were shocked at how badly he was embarrassing Marks. I look forward to his next fight.

4-1-2ko's julious kennedy won against
11-1-9ko's aaron pryor jr last night.
it's a shame baltimore's commission
won't let a fight like that take
place here for the baltimore fans
they excuse would have been that
pryor had to much experience for
kennedy that goes to show how much
they know.
