Afternoon Session Complete at 'Rumble at Ritchie!"

The afternoon session is in the books at the University of Maryland Boxing Invitational also known as the "Rumble at Ritchie" taking place at Ritchie Coliseum.

A number of Beltway-area college boxers perfomed well. Three boxers from the United States Naval Academy won bouts today. In the 165-pound class, Jake Tenorio defeated Justin Postal of Penn State University. Evan Nordstrom won a 195-pound bout by RSC-1 over Brian White of West Virginia University. Also, Chris Bertucci defeated Ian Shaw of West Virginia University in a 156-pound bout.

In other bouts, Tom Quinn boxers won two bouts on today's card. Daniel Bunker defeated West Virginia University's Matt Gooding in a 175-pound contest and Aleksander Olesker defeated Gettysburg's Norbie Pendergast in a 142-pound bout. However, Rob Merrill of Georgetown lost to Salisbury State University's Bobby Hammond. Among the trainers working Hammond's corner were Fernando Guerrero and his brother Carmelo.

Also on the card, 190-pounder Pierce Cole of Penn State University RSC-1 over Gettysburg's Chris Jay. In a 200-pound contest, Mohammad Balde of Indiana University of Pennsylvania defeated Ron Dixon of West Virginia University. In a women's bout, Amanda Montemore of Penn State University won a 125-pound matchup over Mary Giles of West Virginia University.

The evening session is slated to start at 7 PM. The Maryland Boxing Team will be featured during the session and Discombobulating Jones will serve as ring announcer.
