Thompson Appeal Denied by DC Commission; Arvin Victory Upheld!

The District of Columbia Boxing and Wrestling Commission has denied the appeal of Anthony "The Messenger" Thompson of Philadelphia in his August 15 nationally-televised bout against Baltimore's Ishmail "The Arsenal" Arvin that took place at Ibiza Nightclub in DC.

Citing the evidence shown through the ESPN2 Friday Night Fights cameras, Thompson's cut over his left eye was the result of an accidental headbutt and not a punch, the Thompson camp claimed the bout should have gone to the scorecards, which would have meant a victory for their fighter.

The DC Commission saw it differently and upheld Arvin's victory, deferring to the International Boxing Organization (IBO) because that sanctioning body oversaw the USBO Junior Middleweight title bout.

The IBO recently acknowledged Arvin's victory, but would not give him the title that goes with it.

What is sad is that there is only one comment on this subject and the whole nation seen an injustice
done in a sport that really doesn't need that kind of publicity.Arvin should not be celebrating his victory that he didn't earn. The incompatent commission gave him a gift .
How some people sleep at night is beyond me.

Life is complex and not very fair. The show must go on...

People forget, that's just the way it is. What was really pitiful was the way Arvin and his corner were celebrating like they had just scored a come from behind knockdown for the world title. They got their butts kicked, Arvin was outclassed, and Thompson was the one who was screwed. Arvin can't fight a lick!

GARY WILLIAMS YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO JUSTIFY THE LOSS OF THE LOCAL BUM ARVIN!

I don't see how I'm justifying Arvin. I'm just reporting what happened.

In all honesty, the commission deferred to the IBO, so in reality it was the IBO's decision to give Arvin the victory.

For the president of the IBO -- Ed Levine -- to basically undercut his IBO supervisor by not recognizing the victory and giving Arvin the belt seems two-faced to me.

Despite y'alls derrogatory comments about Arvin, he'll move on successfully. He'll continue going hard. Y'alls act as though 'all of a sudden' politics and technical shit aint a part of boxing, and can't apply to 'niggas from round Pennsylvania Ave. I guess it can only apply to those yall 'smooth-stroke'.

Furthermore, 'da nigga Ish just got robbed in his previous fight.

When 'nem hammers started driving the nails', old boy and his corner wanted out.

P.S.- Hi haters.

Eager & Broadway!
