Camacho Stops Ballard in the Seventh Round!

In what was described as an ugly bout, Perry Ballard was stopped in the seventh round by former world champion Hector "Macho" Camacho, Sr. last night at the Reliant Center in Houston, TX.

Listen to a very interesting audio report from Houston delivered by reporter Chris Nicholson and the ring announcer for the card, Henry "Discombobulating" Jones. My thanks to both of them for filing this report.

Gabcast! Boxing Along the Beltway #119 - Report from Houston, TX!

Reporter Chris Nicholson and Ring Announcer Henry "Discombobulating" Jones report on a wild night in Houston, TX which included a loss for Perry Ballard against former world champ Hector "Macho" Camacho, Sr.

what a joke. Ballard was such a huge joke when he fought Lang, sticking his tongue out and all that girlie crap. And Hector, wow, I thought that he was in jail for breaking into that office, stealing some computers and defecating on their furniture. He exemplifies why people wish that the sport could be cleaned up. If we can get rid of him, Ballard and Rahman, we would be so much better off.

the people in Houston probobly didn't know anything about Perry Ballard and the clown that was in his corner so they figured they could slide into texas and pull one over on them.
What is really sad is that it took
seven rounds for Camocho to get him out of there.

Apparently, Ballard ended up in the hospital with a broken jaw and a concussion.

Give him credit, Ballard fought five rounds with the broken jaw. That's tough for anybody against anybody!

That's some funny stuff about Basilio taking a tune up fight with Ballard! LMFAO! I think the old Onion Farmer still has what it takes to plant that hayseed.

Also, it didn't matter who the heck was in the corner with Ballard. Even Willie Shoemaker couldn't have ridden Mr. Ed to the winner's circle of the Kentucky Derby.

And as far as Ballard goes, one last thing. He's not a fighter, he just likes to pretend to be. He built his record for far too long against guys who were so bad they should have never been in the sport at all. The commissions in the states he fought the majority of these "fights" are what gives Teddy Atlas the ammo to fuel his argument about "soft southern commissions" every time a southern fighter gets a shot on TV. I'm tired of Teddy Atlas saying that and I'm tired of people like Ballard pretending to be fighters. But what do you expect from Teddy Atlas when the region produces a guy like Ballard with a record of 20 and 1 and he can't even be competitive with a guy like Camacho!

Here's his BoxRec record and it is a fitting tribute indeed for Perry Ballard, 20-2 with 15KO's, the WBE Champion of The World!

That Carmen Basilio fight got me to thinking. Didn't Saoul Mamby fight recently? And he's 60 years old, right? He's close to Ballard's weight class, right? I bet you that Saoul Mamby would beat Perry Ballard right now. Somebody make the fight.

If you listen to the gabcast about this fight you hear how Camacho was fighting dirty. Ballard came towards Camacho the entire fight. What made this fight bad was Camacho holding, head butting, and other fouls. The injuries that Ballard sustained were from these. To sum it up, Ballard went 7 rounds against Camacho. He didn't quit, his corner stopped the bout due to the cut above his eye. If Camacho hadn't fought dirty there would have been a different outcome!

We need to have something along the lines of the French boxing Federation where they have classifications for A, B, C, D fighters... and every year, they have a box-off tournament for each class in each weight division culminating in a National Champ for that year in the "A" class and an 8 rd champ in the "B" class, a 6 rd champ for the "C" class and a Novice Champ in the "D" class.

That'll positively eliminate someone like Ballard building up a glossy record and getting away with it.

And it forces guys like Snow to partake in tougher matches where they get better real quick. It also happens that the average French fighter with a mediocre record is a lot tougher opponent when they fight out of their country.

And it turns out the French National title is very prestigious in France due to this format and any aspiring French fighter is obliged to go for the National belt before advancing to bigger game.

let's see you go 7 rounds with Camacho

I agree Digital... fighting with a broken jaw is difficult. Ballard did not give up either, his corner threw in the towel. Regardless of what is said about Ballard's record, he fought seven rounds against a legend and the injuries he sustained that ended the bout were from fouls. Camacho may be older but he is still in shape and has speed.

Here, here BoxBible! Let's look in to doing something like the French System!

As long as their training system is not copied... they got some of the lousiest trainers in the world!

Even worse than DC trainers... he he he

I was told you were nothing but a big loser and a low life. Simply defined as a jerk who bashes people and has nothing to back it up. Just remember, you are just another bum from Virginia so go get in line and get your free gov't cheese.

That's funny Chris...thinking people from VA stand in line for cheese. Hell, they make it! They are resourceful and don't need to stand in a line.

If something hit home you need to come up with something better than that lame crap. Maybe you can find a good comeback line in Sour Grapesville.

Sour Grapes.

Perry owns an interest in winery.

Now that is funny as hell. You fell right into that one.

Go drink one on both Perry and I.

BoxBible,

Just admit you are jealous.

He has bank and boxed a legend. You just sit at home in your apartment and bash people because you have nothing else to do.

Get a life and actually read the bible if you can.
