Two Beltway Boxers won bouts by knockout last night. At the Campbell Fitness Center in Salem, NJ, Baltimore light heavyweight Willie "For Real" Williams stopped Alfred Kinsey of Atlantic City in the sixth round.
According to Fightnews.com's Rick Scharmberg, Williams got the win with a brutal body attack that eventually wore down Kinsey and stopped him with a minute to go in the sixth round.
This was a co-feature bout and Williams's first scheduled eight-round contest. This was also Williams's fifth straight victory.
With the win, Williams raises his record to 11-2, three KO's. Kinsey's record is now 6-3-1, three KO's. Our very own Henry "Discombobulating" Jones served as ring announcer for the card.
At the FedEx Forum in Memphis, TN, undefeated Beltway rookie Fernando Guerrero kept his streak rolling. The Salisbury, MD resident scored his eighth knockout in eight bouts as he knocked out Omid Bahreini of Conway, AK at 2:10 of the first round. This bout was on the non-televised undercard of the Berto-Rodriguez/Arreola-Witherspoon HBO doubleheader.
Guerrero is 8-0, eight KO's while Bahreini is 2-3, two KO's.

Willie "for real" Williams is feeling very good about himself after a successful boxing bout in Salem, New Jersey. This was a fight that he knew would be competitive. His opponent, Alfred Kinsey, was a national golden gloves champ with extensive amateur experience. He was no stranger to William's team. I personally worked in the opposing corner or trained the beltway fighter who would go on to defeat Kinsey on 3 outings. As usual, Kinsey came to fight and fight he did. Early on it would be hard to see who would come out with the win. Around the third round Williams began imposing his will and breaking his man down. Williams’s pressure began showing on the face of his opponent and well as in his ring demeanor. Then came those body shots. Kinsey kept his poker face up as long as he could but would be forced to submit to the powerful body shots and was dropped in the six. Showing great courage, he would rise try to fight on. Again Williams would press forward with those painful body shots till Kinsey could take no more. He would then be dropped a second time. He got up and made it back to the corner but with a possible broken rib, his corner was forced to stop the fight and he did come out for the seventh round.
There was a lot of drama in and leading up to the fight. Some advised Williams not to take the fight. The show was in danger of falling completely apart because of fighters falling out of bouts and there being to little rounds for the card to go forward. Williams was forced to up his fight from a 6 round fight to and 8. Williams was confident that this was a man he could and would beat.
A paraphrase from the book Jonathan Livingston Seagull is "the bird that flies higher sees further". I guess Williams sees boxing from an elevated perch.

Without having seen this bout, this sounds like this may be Willie's best win to date. He has really fought well in his last few fights and taken great strides!

I just want to thank you both for your kind words. I just want to say that I worked in the corner of 2 other fighters that same night. I have to say that I watched closely the trainers from New York, Jersey and some other locations. I will say that both the fighters and trainers from the beltway areas are as good as anywhere. We are smart and we produce winners. Coach Hal is one of the best and so is his partner Barry. I am looking forward to some great things happening for us in the not too distant future.
