Brutal Results From Pikesville!

Here are the results from what was a competitive and somewhat brutal night of Baltimore Pro Boxing from the Pikesville National Guard Armory in Pikesville, MD:

Undefeated Baltimore junior middleweight Jessie "The Beast" Nicklow continued his winning ways with a crushing fourth-round TKO over Chad "Tazz" Greenleaf of Parkesburg, WV. Nicklow registered four knockdowns en route to the win as he used his left hook with alarming accuracy. The bout was stopped at 2:25 of the round. Nicklow is now 17-0-1, seven KO's.

Another undefeated Beltway Boxer did not remain so after this card as Dundalk, MD heavyweight "The American Dream" Mike Dietrich was decimated by Wes "The Tiger" Taylor, now fighting out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana in the third round. Dietrich actually scored a knockdown in the first, but Taylor came roaring back and had Dietrich in deep trouble in the second before Taylor put Dietrich away with a devastating right hand early in the third that had Dietrich down and tangled in the ropes. The bout was stopped at 23 seconds of the third. Taylor raised his record to 7-12-1, seven KO's. Dietrich is now 10-1, five KO's.

Beltway rookie light heavyweight Mark "TNT" Tucker of Eldersburg, MD maintained his perfect record with a first-round TKO over Gary Lavender of Wilson, NC. Tucker landed punches that, although they looked awkward, did serious damage to Lavender. Tucker put on enough pressure to force referee Malik Waleed to stop the bout at 1:25 of the first. Tucker is now 3-0, three KO's. Lavender is now 5-13, five KO's. This bout was Tucker's first scheduled six-round contest.

Baltimore middleweight Tony "Mo Better" Jeter made a successful return to boxing after an almost three-year absence with a solid first-round TKO over Pete Guthy of Myrtle Beach, SC. Midway through the first, Jeter landed a beautiful right hand that made Guthy stumble into the ropes, causing a knockdown. Guthy stayed on his feet but his legs were wobbly, forcing referee Gary Camponeschi to stop the contest at 1:15 of the round. Jeter's record rises to 5-2, five KO's while Guthy is now 2-4-2.

Baltimore light heavyweight Willie "For Real" Williams continued his winning ways with a six-round unanimous decision over Andre "Da Heat" Hemphill, now fighting out of Philadelphia, PA. Williams tried some variety in his boxing, going southpaw successfully at times to help win the decision. Judges Joe Ware and Malik Waleed saw the bout 59-55 while judge David Greer scored the bout 58-56. Williams has now won four in a row (not six as I say in the BATB Post-Fight Wrap-Up) and nine of his last 10. Williams's record is now 10-2, two KO's. Hemphill falls under .500 at 6-7-2, three KO's.

In the opening contest, Bowie, MD heavyweight Horace "The Reason" Grant won a six-round majority decision over Mike Miller of Akron, OH. Grant used better activity and a crushing right uppercut to help seal the close victory. Judge Ware saw the draw at 57-57, but judges Greer and Camponeschi saw the bout 59-55 for Grant, who has now won 11 straight bouts and has a record of 12-1, seven KO's. Miller now falls to 3-10-1, two KO's.

Here is a rather lengthy BATB Post-Fight Wrap-Up which includes an interview with Tony Jeter as well as a recap of the card with myself, "The Fight Doctor" Jerome Spears and former Beltway Boxing fan favorite Del "The Hatchet" Matchett.

Gabcast! Boxing Along the Beltway #106 - Full Report From Pikesville!

"The Fight Doctor" Jerome Spears, Del "The Hatchet" Matchett and I describe a very competitive and somewhat brutal night of boxing from the Pikesville National Guard Armory. Included is an interview with the returning Tony "Mo Better" Jeter!

If Jeter doesnt accept that fight against that guy who called him out I question him big time. EVERY1 that was at the fights saw and heard that guy go after Jeter, challenge him, and call him every word in the book. Man that was exciting, it was almost WWF type excitment. I was waiting for some1 to grab the microphone and say "Let me tell you something brother!", haha. Jeter better not punk out, i heard some1 ringside say Jeter said he wont fight that guy. Man he called you out in front of ALL those people, and looked ready to go right there. Jake make that happen for your next show, and have a press conference like WWF, that was exciting! Excellent job from the security staff, they had alot of work tonight. Good card Jake!

Gary Digital Williams said...

The guy who called out Jeter was a boxer named John Terry from Portsmouth, VA. Terry is a tough guy and would be a good bout for Jeter at this stage.

Terry does tend to peter out late in rounds and I think he would be tailor made for Jeter.

Congrats Tony, Jesse, Mark, & Ray. Sounds like this was a hell of a show. Good job Jake & Josh.

Thanks Digital, Then to Tony Jeter you need to annie up and except that challenge. Homeboy called you out in front of every1 & all your people. Step up and lets see this fight. And Jake please hold a press conference or get these to guys on the radio station and pump up this fight. That Terry guy is exciting with the drama he put on, Let's Get It Onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

Tony Jeter was successful in knocking out a BUM!!! and if he needs hard work to do that then he needs to go back into retirement ASAP!!!!!

I THINK TERRY FIGHTS AT A HIGHER WEIGHT THAN JETER SO I DONT THINK THIS CAN HAPPEN

JAWLAW.biz said...

We are not getting all "worked up" over the fact that John Terry called us out. We have big plans for Tony that we are going to execute and we are not going to get sidetracked by every toughguy "John Terry" type that calls out Tony. This is not the WWF (which by the way is actually called the WWE)...

forget terry if i was jeters opponent i would be screaming for a rematch he couldn't even get going before they stopped the bout granted he was hurt but give the man a chance

Anonymous said...

yeah it did get stopped way early. It was a perfect shot that he got caught with, he got back up and looked ok, I think when he wobbled he actually tripped, thats how it looked from my table. He tripped even before he got in the ring, clumsy guy.

Anonymous said...

Hey Es-queer, stop trying to cover up the fact that your boy is scared. Word in on the street is Terry said he would drop down to under 160lbs, when Tony said he wont fight cause he is dropping down in weight.
You say you got big plans, please, your boy have fought once in 2 and a half years. I guarentee hsi next fight is against a harmless opponent. Terry would whoop Jeter. Jeter is the better boxer but that looked personal and Terry is a Very tough guy. Dont be scared and dont make excuses. you just dont want your boy to loose to a guy like Terry.
Word is Jeter wants to fight Matt Hill next, thats real big plans, yall are scared.

JAWLAW.biz said...

Es-queer? That is a good one. I can't wait to tell that one to all of Tony's investors & sponsors. They will all get a good laugh out of that one. "Es-queer" you really got me with that one, good job!!!

Guthy and his people thought it was an early stopage and if you were at the match you heard them announce the rematch for June at DuBurns Arena. The fight between Jeter and Guthy has been made...John Terry can get in line!

Anonymous said...

Guthy definitely doesn't lack sac thats for sure with all that went on after the fight I definitely won't miss the next one nothing but bad blood here as for Terry who has he beat to call anybody out my money is on Jeter no doubt but it will be a much better fight this go around thats for damn sure

Anonymous said...

Tony Jeter may or may not knockout this so called "tough guy" John Terry but he will put the beat down on him. As far as a rematch with Guthy, go ahead put him in there again and get him seriously hurt. Thats all boxing needs. The boy could barely stand.
Whoever questions Tony Jeters heart obviously doesn't know him.

By the way the anonymous who wrote about having to train hard to knockout a bum. Tony is training hard to fight whoever. The guy didn't look like a bum when he took that dude the golden greek to a draw. Tony made him look like a bum

To anonymous who likes to make up the vulgar names. You've been out in the streets to long, boxing is a business. Opponents are chosen according to a boxers progress in the fight game, not because some 2and 11 load mouth thinks he can talk himself into a fight and a pay day. No one want's to fight him. His career is over anyway. Oh and and by the way what street are you geting your info from? The yellow brick road.

Time to put in my two cents. I saw Tony as an amateur (against Luther Smith I believe) years ago. I don't even remember who won but he definately has skills. I've seen John Terry as well (against George Rivera). About a decade spreads the two fights. That said, I think Tony would easily outbox John Terry based on the fact that he is better skilled & hits harder. His chin has been questioned but Terry isn't fast enough to reach his chin. Terry is certainly a "toughguy" but Tony has the class & skill & would beat him up if not stop him. Of course... I've been wrong before. I don't see why this fight shouldn't be made.

Just to clarify a thing or 2 cause I have heard people bring up The Golden Greek a couple times in regards to Guthy going the distance with him. Every1 at Baltimore Boxing & the people that know him good, like me, knows that Bull tore the muscle in his left shoulder after the fight at the Ravens event. He still fought 3 weeks later against Guthy because he had already sold lots of tickets.
Take nothing away from Tony Jeter and his performance. He looked good and very composed especially after the long lay off. Both Tony and Bull are 2 big ticket sellers in the Baltimore/Glen Burnie area, which is great for boxing filling up crowds.
Bull is supposed to be getting surgury to repair that torn muscle soon (I think he was being a wus about going under the knife, LOL).
I know there is no bad blood between Tony and Bull and I am just trying to keep it that way.

My Wish List is for the Beltway Boxers to unite as 1-team instead of bicker back and forth. Let's do a Beltway-Vrs-(Any other state), like Beltway-Vrs-Philly, or Beltway-vrs-NY or FL or whatever. Lets all come together!

Glad to hear Mo Better is back in action and winning. Don't understand what he would gain from fighting a 2-10 bum, though he does look like he is tailor made for Tony and might be good padding for his record. Slow, no power and a big mouth. What is the source of the bad blood? Hopefully Tony stays active adn gets his confidence back. From what I know of Tony it has never been an issue of skill, he can box and he can hit, it has been an issue of heart. Tony doesn't like to get hit and gets bad case of stage fright. That can get cleared up with monthly fights. Good luck Mo Better!

Anonymous said...

I don't believe people are comparing jeter to the golden greek as much as there are saying its a testament to the quality of opponent guthy was to go the distance with a guy like the golden greek. So Jeter didn't fight a chump it was a good quality opponent.

Boxingman said...

First of all the comments regarding Tony's heart are foolish.I used to box in the same gym as Tony a long time a go(Laurel) and I can tell you he doesn't lack heart.I think the problem that Tony had was that he fell in love with his power and always went looking for the knockout instead of using his skills to set it up.And he can box much better then alot of people realize. As far as being "called out" by John Terry I find that very funny.First off Terry hasn't won a bout since 2005.Second off Tony is coming down in weight why would he fight someone who basically is a lightheavy??I think John Terry is looking at Tony's bout with Shedrick and thinking he'll do the same thing to Tony that Shedrick did.Which is a big mistake because the Shedrick bout was a bout in which Tony was not even close to his best.Either way if Terry was to come down in weight(and thats a big if) Tony has far too much skill for him.Just because Terry shot his mouth off to Tony doesn't mean Tony should fight Terry. Why don't you WIN a bout first Terry before you challenge people?

Anonymous said...

Didn't mean to question heart, bad choice of words. However, his lack of activity over the past years and my knowlege of him indicates he is tentative when it comes to making a bout. I like Tony and believe he has good skills, issue is whether he has the desire to capitalize on his talent and make the sacrifices needed to become an active, professional fighter. He got caught in the Shedrick fight, I saw it and he got drilled. However, his two year layoff after indicates a hesitancy to get off the canvas and get back into the game. I really do wish him well and am hopeful he will stay active throughtout this year. For his age he is very inexperienced and he will need to move quickly if he hopes to make any money in this game.

Tony Jeter can fight!John Terry nor BULL could beat MO-BETTER.

Anonymous said...

I hope Mike Dietrich is ok after that brutal knock out.The word on the street is that jake made him fight even though he was injured. Then he gave him a oxy before he boxed.

Anonymous said...

na homeboy Jake aint do that. I was there.

Anonymous said...

Hold up john tery fought me to a draw and I can punch. If I couldn't knock him out how is Jeter. To say that jeter can beat and knock him out is saying he can knock me out. If so lets see it at 160. But that is stupid he is not on my level. A storm is on the rise. And he could never beat Bull i would make sure of that.

Tony knows Im too dangerous of an opponent too fight, I know this is him or his people talking smack, no need 2 talk on here, call Jake and he will put you threw 2 me and we can make this happen if you want.

John Terry fought who to a draw? Bouloubassis or Henry Mayes? Terry has a tendency to get ko'd when he fights in the jr middleweight, middleweight divisions, Davis and Christy fights. Jeter will not be campaiging above middleweight. Let him get a couple fights under his belt and if the big guys who can't win at light heavy or middie want a taste, they can come and get it. Meanwhile Terry and Mayes would be wise to do what Jeter is doing, shut their mouths, train hard and get some wins. . . especially Terry as he is a 26 yearold trial horse, which means lots of beatings to come! Work hard, stay busy Mo Better, you got lots of support out here.

Anonymous said...

Tony got 1 win, not some wins, in the last 3 years, and to be fair Tony got knocked out cold to an old Shedrick, Who John Terry beat.
Tony runs and runs his mouth, just because its not on here doesnt mean he is not running his it.

Anonymous said...

Tony's not running his mouth about anyone. Everybody else is talkin trash about him. He's not worried about what the other local fighters are doing, he is only concerned about his own boxing career.

I would think that if Mr. Bouloubassis wanted a fight with Tony he wouldn't ask for it via an "anonymous post". If I am wrong, however, I would hope the "Golden Greek" would contact us.

Now, I would propose allowing Tony and Mr. Bouloubassis to each get another five fights or so under their belts and meet in the late winter or early spring of 2009 for a regional belt. In addition, I would propose the winner of that fight meeting Jesse Nicklow who will likely have a belt of his own by that time. This match-up could take place in the summer of 2009.

This plan makes more sense to me than having Mo Better and The Golden Greek meeting at this stage of their careers for peanuts when this match could be built up to a pretty big attraction at the local level, especially if a match-up with Mr. Nicklow would be on the horizon. In fact, a show featuring Jeter v. Bouloubassis and Nicklow v. the NABF title holder could have the potential for an ESPN 2 show...

Mr. Wilkins,

Your correct I dont handle things threw annonomous posts. Thats why if you scroll threw all these posts the only time that I have even left a post is when my name has been bought up, and if you read the 2 post that I left they are asking Tony to contact Jake (my manager) if this is what he wants.

Some people like to start things on these blog sites, but I am not that type thats why I would rather handle these situations in person.

I like your above proposal. My only change is that Jessie is one of my good friends & the only way that I would fight Jessie would be for a belt / LOTS of money / and make it a TV event.

But First things first a fight with me & Tony will be good to go. I know between us we will sell the place out.

My email address is BmoresGoldenGreek@Yahoo.com

Feel free to contact me.

Hey mr. bull just relax and look for other fights for you own GOOD! unless your going to make good money don't chance yourself with Mr. JETER. We saw what he did to your hardest fight in your career. He made it look easy, so just imagine.
People also have questioned your heart and you just confirmed that you don't have heart. A fighter doesn't have friends in the ring. Now you're trying to duck Jesse? come on, Just keep fighting those SC, and NC fighters so you can keep looking good.

Anonymous said...

Man please! Dont come on here blasting me & remaining anonymous. I aint hard to find, I am at every 1 of Jakes shows so if you wanna talk this stuff you can man up and bring it to me.

Let me clear a couple things for you. Aint nobody ever question my heart, I have signed every contract to fight whoever was presented to me, and never ducked any1.

This is how much heart I have is that I fought Pete Guthy with torn muscle in my left shoulder (which I am getting surgically fixed, thats why I haven't been fighting since). I tore it 1 month prior to that fight when I fought at the Ravens Foundation card. I had already sold mad tickets to the Dec 7th card so I sucked it up and fought. I could have easily backed out of the fight with the injury but I am a Warrior and I was not gonna let my people (who already bout tickets) loose their money.

I have already been in contact with Tony's manager and we are probally going to do something later down the road (just like his manager wrote above). Me and Tony never had no problem, its you guys that are starting trouble with us. I thought that the comments where coming from his camp so I was like "lets do this", but his manager confirmed that you aint from his camp so stay out of it.

Now let me clear the stupid comment you made about Jessie. First off Jessie is 17-0 & I am only 3-0, so that fight would not happen for years anyway, but since I am good friends with Jessie, yes I would only fight him for a belt & lots of money. I never said I wouldnt fight him but it would be for that. Plus it wont happen cause of all the fights he has anyway.

Now I have a question for you, whats you record/name/do you even fight?

Im at all the fights man, so if you got an issue with me, Im a nice guy just shoot it to me man

Just a word from Tony Jeter's camp. As I discussed with Boul both on this forum and in private. We are very interested in fighting Boul when it makes more sense financially for both fighters. This is a business, not the schoolyard. Just as we didn't get all caught up in John Terry calling us out and we are not going to have anonymous bloggers force us into a fight with Boul, just because people are interested in stirring up trouble. Our respective camps do not have issues with each other. Please understand, both sides are excited about doing this fight, but it will be at a time when it will be beneficial for everyone involved.

Tony loves the support and all of the interest being generated. But, if you really want to support Tony, buy tickets to his June fight. And tell your friends to buy tickets to his June fight. But please stop calling out Boul or anybody else for that matter and let us get Tony's opponents lined up. The fight with Boul is going to happen when everyone is ready for it to happen, not when the school bell rings...
