How does the Va. Commission not come under scrutiny with the nonsense they allow. This region should be above the fights allowed by Va. It is absolutely insulting that they call this a commission, and that it's actually recognized. Gary, how about calling for a LIVE commission in Va. The fights they allow would make even DC cringe, which is a stretch. . . and the Md Commish would have a heart attack. . . and rightfully so. The Va. commish should be abolished and then replaced. EXPOSE THESE FRAUDS. Look at the facts. Va. is commissionless!!!!!

As a fool you state that they shouldn't allow fights like these but you never state what your problem is. Why don't you expose the fraud since you have so much information. We will be all waiting for your response.

OK - here's the problem.Va. commission has limited medicals, they allow fights that most states wouldn't, complete mismatches. The state is a promoters dream, because you don't have to go through real rules. And it's a fighters dream because you can pick up a win against a stiff. "Virginia's For Lovers" and "Virginia's For Building My Record". Just look at the fights that happen there. Look at last night. Complete BS fights. That is not a slap at the promotion. But it is towards the commission. A commission has a responsibility to the fans. OK safety is first, but the public needs to be protected as far as they are paying for a reasonable product. But knowingly approving trash fights for the benefit of fighters and managers, but to the detriment of the paying public is sick. Look on boxrec.com and check out last nights card. The VA commish approved those fights. And as a fan just be thankful that the EMT didn't show up. We will be all waiting your response.

This is not just a Virginia problem. I think Commissions should be more accountable and laud you for bringing this up. I am sure savvy paying public steers clear of these circus shows. That leaves a cadre fan base of friends/family of the boxers/promoters and uneducated fans who since they are not educated will enjoy the fights as is, pretty much like WWF fans do. Ultimately who loses? Promoters and boxes lose respect and because the intelligent fans, scouts and media and magazines will never get close enough to give them a second glance. If there is little ethical leadership from the commissions, it has to be the responsibility of each boxer, manager and promoter to step up to the plate and be the best and give their best.

They were staying away in droves last night. There weren't 100 people there. Perhaps that is an indication of the public's interest in last night's card.

And I also meant to add in the previous post - a good indicator that the public knew the card wasn't very good, it was full of mismatches as the previous post said.

It is not just a VA. problem. But in this region, there commish is flat out the most un-accountable.Not even a close second. DC isn't great, DE is run by PA, MD is probably the best but afraid to act like it. MD is strong but don't know how to flex.

Interesting how the weights from Dulles took this turn. Since it sounds like the collective commissions in this area illicit bad marks on this blog. In fairness what (If any) USA or other commissions are highly regarded and considered to do a better job and how are they regulated?

Well Linda...how bout MD, PA, NV, FL, NJ, NY, MA, GA, TX...the list would be shorter if you want to list the trash commissions. And if you did that, VA would be on the list, and near the top.

Ok anonymous..What makes them better. What do they do that we should do? I want the winning formula not the mudslinging. If it's not right, what's the bar to measure it by and what needs to be done to improve, That was really my question. Can you answer that?

Linda - it's what they don't do. There's your answer.

What do people expect Virginia Boxing Commission to do? Give a list. Probably all this is moot, but it will reflect opinion on if the commission is doing a good job and if not ultimately, a springboard for change.

I am sorry but it is not the job of any commission to be a matchmaker. The promoter is in charge of making the matches. Remeber it's the safety of the boxers the boxers period. You can have a fighter with a losing record that teaches a young fighter. There was a boxer that fought many time in VA who had a losing record. He taught a young fighters a lesson. He knew every trick in the book and made fights look bad. Look at the record of Danny Wofford and how many people with winning records he fought. Also look at how many stares gave the okay for the fights. Promoters, managers and trainers determine who their boxers should fight and why. Now the April 12th show in RIchmond is a step up in the quality of fights for VA but do you think that would happen if the fight base had not been built by increasing the number of events?

nowfor the person who said VA has limited please explain what other states do and what VA doesn't do. I will be waiting.

The April 12th "event" proposed for Richmond VA is a farce and everybody knows it! That show will not take place and it's another black eye for VA!

Again, is it just me, or do all of the anonymous comments seem to be posted by the same person?

And why was Ding 210 pounds?

The more you talk the more it shows how bitter you really are. Now I hope you will be man enough to come back on here and say that the fight did take place. Also if the fight does not take place how is it a black eye on VA? I also noticed you did not give any details on why VA is bad you just say it is. What's the matter you can't communicate you feelings? LOL
